As a black woman, I really do appreciate your platform and support for democracy and calling out the hypocrisy. I never thought I would see a show done today by two white women who I judged right off the bat and thought differently. We need more people to speak up. Democracy is on the line. Thank you again
Nikki Haley is an Indian woman with immigrant Indian parents. Her heritage is Indian. Indians were used by the English colonizers as indentured servants which basically like slaves and treated very badly in her home country of India by England. She is trying to hide her Indian heritage and fit in with white people. She doesn't even use her real Indian name of Nimarata. I would bet a lot of the republican base don't even know she is Indian. In India they also have a cast system and also treat dark skinned Indians very badly as opposed to how they treat light skinned Indians. She should know better about slavery and stop with the hiding her heritage and be a better person.
Nikki Haley withdrew the United States from the UN Commission on Human Rights. She is not qualified to lead the world's most influential democracy, founded exclusively on principles of human rights. Shame on her for her endless shilling to get where she feels she deserves to go. Her personal ambition eclipses any and every principle she has, every time.
Am a thousand and thousands percent with you! And was it also a literal life or death for me at my birth!! Meaning my mother died having me when there was no Roe which gave her own choice to make on top of because she knew anymore pregnancy could cost her life!! And ((the choice ) )) was pro life and pro choice which can exist in the same universe!!
I am a liberal dem who wrote a letter to Nicky Haley when she FINALLY removed the Confederate Flag from the capital in Columbia. Now she has undone anything good that became of that. Her ambivalent crappy answer on abortion sickened me. Government stay out of my UTERUS!!!!!!

I am a Black woman and I truly appreciate your discussion about what the Republican Party is trying to do to this country. You just gained a new subscriber. ❤️
I always love how racists will either avoid the term/word "slavery" all together or will say something along the lines of: "It was about states rights" - Yeah, idiots, it was about states rights to OWN OTHER PEOPLE! DUH! That's what SLAVERY was! My ex's Uncle would use that argument all the time when, living in Illinois (which was mostly in the "North" - mostly, but not entirely as Illinois is one of the few "cross-over" states that had soldiers on both sides of the Civil War) - and would participate in Civil War Reenactment groups and events. He was so good at this argument that he convinced my ex-partner to participate as well - On the Confederate side! It totally blew me away and angered me so much. My ex, a full blown lesbian, totally turned a deaf ear to reasonable, rational debate and straight up facts. I've always been an activist, my entire life. My first political rally was when I was only two years old! My father was the original director of Soul Train, when it was a local dance show in Chicago, before it was syndicated. My father was always my biggest supporter when it came to my involvement in activism. He supported me, encouraged me, and was my "cheerleader." The irony here is that my father was NOT a US Citizen! He was a greencard carrying, Canadian citizen who was NEVER allowed to vote here in the US. He supported me when I chose to enlist in the US Navy and supported me still when I dove headfirst into LGBT rights activism after I had separated from the military. My Canadian dad was my biggest supporter of all my efforts. He understood that human beings, ALL human beings, deserved Equality and dignity. He understood why I felt the need to enlist in the military, he understood and encouraged me when I got even more involved in voluntary activism later on. The fact that my partner was so easily duped, so easily convinced by her right-wing Uncle to participate in Confederate Civil War reenactments baffled my entire family, me as well.

I've had it with performative Republican politics. These candidates pander to the lowest dregs of American society. It's gross and, quite frankly, dangerous.
The low draggers are there voters I say she’s has lower herself but that would be the earliest oxymoron already in 24 because she’s has already shown before the slavery graff that she was all but able to do a limbo under a snake because was already that low 🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳👈👈👈👈
Nikki Haley doing us South Carolinians the opposite of proud. Really loving your podcast, thank you RU-vid algorithm for showing me something I like lol I’ve had it with pretty much everything!
Nikki Haley should've been able to answer a question a fifth grader could answer, but as compared to Trump she's a genius as compared to a fifth grader not so much.
What is it about South Carolina politicians? Are they all flip floppers? They already have that flip flopping Filly, Miss Lindsay Graham and now Haley!
I'm a Russian speaking American here in Florida. When I asked my American father in law what was the most tragic part of the American history he said Civil War, brothers killing each other. Which I agree with. But I kinda expected to hear "the slavery". Thanks for bringing this story up, it's good to see some sanity in this country. And just for your reference, in my russian-speaking school in Soviet times we were briefed on black slavery in America and we as kids felt very bad for American inequality. Reading American classical literature was a must and I cried after finishing the Uncle Tom's Cabin book. Thank you 💙 and Democracy first!
Jordan Klepper, I have had it and SouthPark are my favorite sources of information about the US. Thanks a lot. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Amsterdam.
The slavery gaffe or not a gaffe? Who knows for sure. But I loooooove her response even though government is going in the opposite direction at lightning speed. Her words absolutely need to be TROTTED OUT for all to hear! We need to vote for our human rights!!!!
I LOVE this series! Also PUMPS! You look INCREDIBLE, the black turtle? Serving Elizabeth Holmes gay for the stay realness, minus the corruption and double the sagging dragons!
Jen, I just love love love the term "Governor Kitten Heels." And it couldn't happen to a more deserving person. Thank you for that. I will be stealing your joke.
I'm Australian and I would have said that the American civil war was about slavery! American politicians are out here rewriting history and gaslighting their voters. 😂 P.s. I think the colour balance on Pump's camera is off.
I learned about the Emancipation Proclamation in 6th grade, in 1964, in a school in the Philippines. It was part of our academic lesson in US History. I also learned to recite the Gettysburg Address by heart, which I demonstrated to my naturalization officer during my application process. It's a shame that most US politicians are under-educated when it comes to the nation's history. Or maybe they're just in denial.
No it's part of her heritage. Indians hate us for being Black more than any other group. This is not a bug, this is a feature. I wish people would understand this fact and stop being so stunned when she says things like this
We really need your voices. You are both special. Get ready for a hell of a ride and know how much we are cheering you on. ❤❤and that you inspire me not to be afraid to speak truth to MAGA even or maybe especially with those i love. Your calmness but no nonsense honesty is a great model for me.
haley was saying that govt. interference in prohibiting slavery caused the civil war. when she says freedom, she means freedom for white people to do what they want.
Nikki's comment/reply was absolutely tailored to cater to the worst faction of the political "right"! You can hear her nearly hyperventilating immediately after the question was asked!
Great show! I would add one more thing to your list of MAGAs so called small gov. They want to tell everyone how to pray. They've been working for decades to make the US a Christian nation.
Nikki isn't running for president. She's running for a spot at the Trump table. VP most likely. 😂 She is just another maga with maga mentality. And she really isn't smart at all. 😂 Love you both!
It's one thing to take the time and learn and grow from things but the flip flopping ugh... 😑..I remember they called Obama a flip flopper due to his original stance on gay marriage. But what did he do? He took the time to listen and really hear others, learned some shit and changed his stance. Now my gay ass will be married 8 years to my gay ass husband on 1/11. Thank you lovely ladies for doing what you do. I'm loving these small news segments ❤️
I think Nikki forgot that she was in a northern state. Her answer would have been acceptable in the south. I think the one asking the question wanted to see if she had the backs of the people in the northern states.
Great take on Nikki Haley. I heard it before, but you girls put Haley under a microscope. You girls swing for the fences, and I am into your great content.
As someone who was raised by a confederate apologist this sounds super familiar. It is very possible that Nikki actually believes the civil war wasn’t about slavery or slavery was just a blip in the list of causes. The south is weird y’all. Not knocking southerners, but in my childhood revisionist history was just as popular as actual history.
