I was canvassing for Obama, and they sent me to a house where the man was FORSURE republican and either the woman did not vote or voted for the good guys, and the dude basically chased me with a claw hammer and hunted me through the neighborhood (I felt sorry for her)
We have mail in voting in Oregon which is fine if your husband is a good person and respects your right to privacy but there are many right wingers here as well especially in the East and I would not be surprised if far right husbands would not honor their wive's privacy and force them to vote as he wishes. The bottom line of the goal of MAGA is they blame the moral decline of America principally on social progress and cultural diversity....and believe we were better off as a society prior to the civil rights movement and before women had a voice, when white men held all of the power in our business, financial, and educational institutions.
Although I am a man, the lack of abortion rights and its consequences affects me and my choices as well. Protecting health services and reproductive care for women and infants should be sacred in a healthy society. This is an outrage, how can one state make it legal while another state imprisons you, where is the freedom?
I'm always surprised that we aren't talking more about the impact on men and why men should be voting for reproductive rights. . One example: do most men really want to be financially responsible for any and all children they might father in their lifetimes, especially if a child is a result of a more "casual" encounter? We've had paternity tests for years now so I would think that men would be worried about this if women are forced to have unwanted children.

Actually, the GOP became anti-woman back in 1980 when they adopted an anti ERA plank in their party platform and also became anti choice under Reagan. Millions of women were ok with this, as Reagan won huge landslide victories in 1980 and 1984, carrying a majority of women both times. Women are often their own worst enemy. They could end our patriarchy easily if they would unite, but too often as in 2016, they fight among themselves and our patriarchy continues on.

I don't buy that. Americans who value democracy will vote democratic regardless in my opinion. It seems people are making it too much about one specific person and not enough about what being Democrat actually stands for. Joe Biden doesn't have absolute power, it's democratic Congressmen and women and the Senate etc who authorize Joe Biden to do things. That form of Democracy won't change if it's a different democrat candidate other than Joe Biden running. For Democracy to prevail, Americans need to vote for whomever the Democratic candidate is. I understand the worry some people might have if the Democratic candidate is someone who isn't well recognized, but regardless, what the vote should be based on is if the person values Democracy. Myself for example, I wouldn't vote for another party just because I may not know every little detail about the candidate from the party I support.

As a middle aged man I'm of the opinion that govt should be as near as possible a representation of the population. Meaning about half should be women. I use to think this would help with violence and aggression. Then i experienced the British Tory party and their women members. Imo many of the ppl in govt are the "best" of the worst, including the women. Does anyone think a MTG potus would be less harmful? I don't know how but we desperately need to change the types of characters that succeed in politics and government.
