Working 12 hours and in weekends wow. Lack of labor law in India allows ppl to make such remarks. I’ve been working in Europe and this never happens here.
Its about how you draw boundary and focus on life other than work as well. Its also about what work culture company has and sadly consulting in india is the most ghada majuri work you will ever do. Mentally exhausting, Spouse will always be complaining about how little time i give them. Also there is no solid job decription of consulting....you are constantly placed over the world and do job from sales to implementation to process excellence and everything. It gets irritating after some point.
I understand this channel is for IIM aspirants. However, for an average student like me would be wondering if we are out of the game already by seeing all these super achievers' success stories. But as opposed to the saying life is actually fair and if you are confident on your motive and have passion for success, IIM and ISB of the world doesn't matter... You can start baby steps and achieve what you want. Yes, may be a little late but that's okay.
This channel is not for average folks . So don't waste your time here . Those who will get IIMs are studying , rest are wasting time here , listening to these talks.
I am 66. Started as an entrepreneur at 33 after resigning from a nationalised bank (12 years service). some parts of the advice is correct; but some maybe useful for entrepreneurs from IIMs etc. i may be wrong. but this is my personal view. overall the podcast is worth going through by everyone who aspires to be an entrepreneur / pursue independent professional life. regards
I can’t sit in a chair for 12 hours a day so I’ll get another degree to convince me to sit on a chair 14 hours a day. Sala kuch bhi logic do tum. Seedhe so baat hai - it’s all herd mentality. India as a country runs on that. Be it engineering, be it MBA or be it startups. Everything is built around “what’s everyone else doing”, what’s “safe” and what’s respected in the society. There is no individualistic thinking.
Hi team, I have the below profile: 10th: 89% (State board) 12: 68% (State board) UG (Bachelor's in Social Sciences): 7.4 CGPA. Extra curricular: 2 years of voluntary work with NGOs. Certifications in Data Analytics & Public Policy. 3 years of full time work experience in Public Policy. I plan to build a career in Social Development management. What %ile should I target for good IIMs?
I think countries like China, Japan, Germany did more globally despite not giving as much importance to English as India did. They own more of the global market. Far more than India.
Agree, In Consulting it’s all work, am myself a constant for last 18 years worked in 4 countries through big 4 it’s not just high salary but also a lot of work till midnight, not for faint hearted folks.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Stay tuned for more such interesting content. You may also be interested in checking out our playlist on Consulting - ru-vid.com/group/PLMYr1HHzGSR1JIhDKWebzqTKNOa03NbqA&feature=shared
I had opportunities to work with IIM A / IIM C / working for global major consultants in 6 deferent Indian MNC . I was contact person from company side with these consultants .. I must say they did not value anything to their 6 weeks project / 4 months project etc.. I can give gurantee. In one interaction with IIM A senior guy worked with that global consultning company , one of our great engineer asked fundamental questions about statistcis .. IIM A guy went to board and tried to explain but could not -- Then my friend went to the boaard and explanied where that IIM a guy is going wrong -- Hence Conultants are selfish to the core.
great, great conversation. the interviewer is so intelligent and calm. one observation ... Sandeep said he comes from middle class, but went to Bishop Cottons in Bangalore. a lot of achievers these days have a very 'broad' definition of middle class :)
Thanks for watching this. Do you reckon it's high time we hit the refresh button on what 'middle class' really means? Should we have an official 'Middle-Class Dictionary' to end all the heated debates?
@InsideIIMKonversations what do I think? I think, not a dictionary but a discussion would be great. I have seen many young guys from privileged background call themselves middle class, like Kotak Jr on Nikhil Kamats podcast or Kautuk Srivastava on TISS podcast (his father was a ceo at jk Raymond's). Do they really belong to middle class? If they're middle class, what about us vernaculars from tier 2 cities with only one parent working in a small time job, and who went to local schools? We aren't poor, never struggled for food or missed school due to shortage of money. But compared to the examples cited above, we are in league way below theirs. Must mention here that all names mentioned above including Sandeep are legends in their field, heaps to learn from them.
My wife works at Deloitte USI, they take 400% of work for the pay they give and its scary😢 I told her so many times to leave Deloitte and loom for some other product based companies.
@@User-x2f3ef4s4fs6g Deloitte has worst human resource policy. Either they don't hire 8 to 10 years of work experienced people or they want to get the job done by recruiting freshers and the team leads get tired of training 4-5 freshers along with their individual hectic work.
@@User-x2f3ef4s4fs6g there is new technologies to learn definitely, but the amount of work Deloitte has they should be hiring more experienced people instead of getting 4 people work from a single resource.
In todays world tech pays much more than consulting. If you are decnt enough in coding then people from even tier 2 & tier3 colleges are getting good packages .
It is good informational podcast however i want to understand what about someone who doesn’t have any IiT or iim degree. How can they get into even after 4 years of bpo/kpo experience
Consultants are selfish to the core -- They stay in 5 star hotel with Rs 10000/ per day hotel and use sadan for their travel to factory -- they get client paid travel cost to their home town once in 15 days - They are given red carpet and whenever they call for a meeting we have to drop eveything and attend that -- Final presentation is done only in front of MD and not with anyone -- MD will force we lesser mortal to take their sugegstion for implementation which can not be implemneted .. FED UP OF this self styled don .. I think today more and more people come to know the worth these GOMBA - Grosly over paid MB A consultants .. They are liability to the society
