Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur (IIM Sbp) belongs to the prestigious IIM family of business schools. It is a new generation IIM, set up by the Government of India in September 2015. One of the key objectives of IIMs is to provide quality management education in the country to cater to the needs of corporate and non-corporate sectors and public systems. The permanent campus of Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur is to be developed in an area of land measuring approximately about 200 Acres at Basantapur village near Gosala near Sambalpur City. The site is situated in close proximity to National Highway (No.53) & State Highway. Most of the land is non-agriculture terrain. In Phase- I, only 60,280 sqm approx. the built-up area under various buildings of the Project shall be constructed.
Ours is a 4 Star GRIHA Rated Sustainable Campus following Energy Efficient and Ecologically Sensitive Principles of Development that will be fully integrated with the Master Plan Development.
The Proposed Master Plan responds to the ecological, topographical, and hydrological systems existing on the site. It ensures a rational layout that is easy to use in functional terms, based on the relationships between the buildings.
Public spaces created for interaction between students and teaching staff, including both areas inside buildings and the external environment, will play an important role in fostering an academic environment and building an attractive education and research environment.
In order to promote the rational usage of the site, specific zones have been set up, such as those for education and research, residential, welfare, sport, and green spaces. Academic and Administrative zone comprises of Admin Block, Classroom Block, Faculty Block, MDP Block, and Library. All these blocks are interconnected with a covered corridor for all-weather connectivity.
The residential zone is divided into two parts. The first zone is for student’s hostel and other for Faculty and staff housing including Director Residence. In between the residential zone are the common facilities like sports, hospitals, shopping, and canteen.
Adequate parking facility for the staff and visitors will be provided as per bye-laws. Vehicular and pedestrian movement is separated to encourage people to walk within the site.
The Campus’s most striking feature is the incorporation of regional art that creates a symbiotic relationship with the architecture. The area’s traditional IKAT-a patterned textile-dyeing technique-is mapped onto the brick facade with remarkable elegance, in colors similar to the soils of Odisha.
Use of LED lighting and ECBC Complied Energy Efficient Electric Appliances like DG Sets, Transformer, Lifts, Pumps, Motors, etc. will help in considerably reducing Electricity Consumption.
Domestic Water Consumption is also reduced by using Dual flushing Cisterns, Less water-consuming urinals, showers, faucets, etc. Treated Water from STP will be reused for Irrigation and Flushing
