How holistically you have addressed such diverse dimensions; ideal friends, some exercise, proper sleep in 90 minutes cycle, extracurricular activities and less time in social media. Thank you sir for making us remember all these points again. It was really refreshing to listen to your valuable words. I hope you are doing well, professor!
@Prof_JC Yes sir, absolutely. Since it's coming from your personal experience, it was so honest and genuine, as always. These words are so important not just for freshers but for anyone in general. (Final semester exams are on and this video just made me a little calm).
प्रणाम sir जी। Only one doubt what should I Choose University of Hyderabad (MATERIAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING) IIIT MANIPUR (CSE/ECE) NIT Srinagar Civil/Metallurgical engineering. Please Sir suggest me the right preference order !@@Prof_JC
1. Choose your friends wisely and stick to these friends throughout college. 2. Take care of your health and do not take it for granted. Sleep, food and exercise should be a priority. 3. Have a fixed sleep schedule and do not mess with it at any cost. 4. Extra-curricular activities are great to explore but academics should be a top priority. But always keep atleast one such activity. 5. Social Media is addictive and keep it under check
I noticed something in the background that he keeps the reciever of the telephone away from the actual place so that it would not ring when he is recording a video. this is a very small thing but it still makes a difference by eliminating any sort of problems that could happen while recording.
Sleep occurs in five stages: wake, N1, N2, N3, and REM. Stages N1 to N3 are considered non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, with each stage leading to progressively deeper sleep. Approximately 75% of sleep is spent in the NREM stages, with the majority spent in the N2 stage.A typical night's sleep consists of 4 to 5 sleep cycles, with the progression of sleep stages in the following order: N1, N2, N3, N2, REM.A complete sleep cycle takes roughly 90 to 110 minutes. The first REM period is short, and as the night progresses, longer periods of REM and decreased time in deep sleep (NREM) occur.

This video is better than mostly all videos made on this topic. Thank you sir for this informative and motivating video right on the time when we needed this the most. Love from kolkata ❤
Glad that I've cared for my health so far and later learnt that sleep needs to be prioritized more than just saying it. Sir please make videos on all such things that you have in mind. Even though I've completed my first year, it will still help me. Thank you so much, you are someone who has helped more than anyone else.🙏🏻

Good evening Sir, I will be joining Data Science and Artificial Intelligence course in IIT Guwahati. I am looking forward to giving my best in these 4 years and work hard to achieve my goals. TIll now I only set Academic Goals in my life for myself. But from now on I will be setting spiritual, mental, physical, communication goals too.
13:36 I've just completed 12th grade, now applying for colleges, I completely agree with this. Since the past year or so, I have become averse to all such distractions. I can sit for however long I want to with absolute focus, with my phone and laptop being right beside me all the while. I don't even need to switch them off to disable me from using them (I have notifs turned off by the way). Also, when I use something like RU-vid to learn something, I don't get shifted off track or distracted by RU-vid's alluring collection of videos. I simply take in the information I need, and exit the app. (lol I know I'm bragging about this but what I claim is true)

Thank you so much professor fir your valuable advices.I m also going to join college in next months.I hope you will also create a dedicated academic video as well .I m grateful for your advice ❤
Thank you, sir! Your valuable advice will stay with me as I navigate hostel life. I'm starting Computer Science and Engineering this year, and I look forward to more informative videos that will continue to assist me. 🙏
My intake form profs' advice are: 1.Indulge in Organic Friendship rather than business/professional relationsor just for connections, 2.Good Sleep, 3.Regular Physical workout (like cycling around campus will suffice though), Regulate Good Health, 4.Mindful activity (post academic fulfillment/req), 5.Proper Meal (hostel schedule is fine too), 6.utilize social media/internet for learning/exploring rather than mindless scrolling & avoid time sinking!! Also sir we need your mindful insights on certain issues like: -how to handle competitions among peers positively without getting jealous/sour -handling multiple academic load like learning something new with current assignment deadlines & so on.. -how to avoid placement related anxiety while just focus on getting good grades/cgpa & want to take my choices of courses like ML, AI, CV etc where grading is really tough..it might affect cgpa, but wanted to learn! -how to approach & have conversations with professors (specifically IITD profs, tbh i found them unfriendly/unhappy/rude unnecessarily;)
You are in which branch in IITD?Profs in Material Science are cool here. If you are from circuital branch like EE,ECE ,let me tell you that profs in Electrical background are grumpy in every iit/nit :)
. Have a good network of frnds, not necessarily tge quantity but the quality. Frnds from whom u can also learn & upgrade skills . Have atleast 1-2 such frnds whom u can call at middle of even night on emergency . HEALTH: imp of health will be realised when it is lost, so before it gets lost, be conscious about ur health. Food of mess is not much nutritious, so at least be regular at ur meals, this regularity will also help ur body & try to eat healthy food Also focus on exercise ( at least do cycling) . SLEEP Allnighter - someone who works all the night & still conscious the nxt day & not who sleeps the nxt whole day It is a good skill while u r hustling but better avoid it .extracurricular activities are in "EXTRA" , the primary focus should be our curriculum, after that u can go for extra. And atleast have one engaging extra curricular activity to get a whole college life experience . Don't just keep scrolling social media ( solution - have some target in life)

i am going to start my college journey and i hope i will be able to implement these things in my life and bring right changes. I also thank sir for sharing his experience with us.❤❤❤
i am joining IIEST shibpur IT from 14th august. much appreciated for the effort you make doing these videos. hoping i shall have professors like you in college.
Sir please make a video sharing details about the murder case of Faizan from IIT KGP, since he was a student of Mechanical engineering department. And you perhaps being his professor would better tell us more about his being in this institute.
Thank you sir for sharing this.Teachers like you are the backbone of students. Unluckily as a dropper could not made to iit(got 24k rank). But still whichever college I go I seek your blessings and such informative videos to guide us. Pressntly I'm very confused as if I'll get some iiit or newer nit as cutoffs for round 2 and 3 are almost identical.. But still hoping for the best 🤞🤞🤞
Nice one, sir! This is one of the first video of yours that I am watching. I am joining college too to pursue science. I really liked that the advice was practical :)
Good morning sir Need of the hour video Being a parent, it will definitely minimise our advices. Our son is joining Electrical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad. Thank you very much sir.
What a valuable, insightful & important suggestions on the most crucial part of any student life. I will suggest to follow these suggestions by heart if you are new to this student life. Because there is a lot of pain and suffering to realising this on your own. And thank you so much ❤ to respected Professor JC for making this video. This is a great set of guide to every student :)
Thank you for the pointers sir. I'll keep these in mind. I would also like to see you make a video about managing finances and financial literacy for college students. If you do end up reading this comment, I hope u have a great day ahead.
@@AbhishekYadav-rv7dn I am also a online dropper and qualified the exam Most important tip is don't waste your time in social media, Use mobile at a fixed time evey day in my case I use mobile apps in 6- 9 slot ...
A very beautiful video which describes the importance of being balanced. Interestingly, this will also apply even after college life and if students can develop these habits it will eventually lead to a happier life. On that note, I would like to recall a statement from Swami Vivekananda on health. He said that playing football gets you closer to GOD. Meaning when you play football, you have a healthy body and healthy body leads to healthy mind which eventually will help you meditate better. It applies for studies too. Ofcourse, one should not tire themselves. :)
Sir it's a request to you to also make video on GATE preparation in different perspectives such as difficulty, resource availability, guidance requirement etc. Whether the guidance is required to the extent as it is required in JEE?
@Prof_JC Professor I am interested in JEE Mathematics I am getting Btech Mathematics & Computing in a good college as well as BSMS in IISER I don't know what is research...I am simply interested more or less in JEE Mathematics only...I am a double dropper...after Btech atleast I will get a job but after BSMS there is no guarantee of proffesorship...pls tell me what should I go with
depends on what you want. its not like there is no money in research but they is a lot more scope if you take btech. now it depends on u and your family condition. if you love a subject and can afford to earn less than your btech peers then you can go for research
Congratulations! It is a great opportunity. Prof. Amit Gupta from Mech at IIT Delhi sometimes comments on my videos. Prof. Debabrata Dasgupta there is an old friend of mine; plus there is Prof. Kaushik Mukherjee. Both Prof. Dasgupta and Mukherjee did their PhD here at IIT Kharagpur.
thank you for the valuable advice sir... respected sir there ought to be 3 attempts in three consecutive years given for jee advanced or at least there's a necessity for 2 consecutive attempts in jee advanced in 3 consecutive years from class 12th. It will really help students like me who had limited resources throughout our education and started after 12th get a fair competing field unlike many who got 2 full years and 2 attempt in jee advanced....please try to do something on this too, u can only help us sir...
I have personally experienced, if your health is good and hormones balanced you will automatically feel motivated to study. Regarding friendship- I made only one true friend during my BTech and guess it is going to be forever!!!
I was a victim of social media in my first year, but I shifted it to my RU-vid feed using a dumbphone in my second year, which enabled me to at least learn something useful [Industrial Design and Digital Design] out of it. RU-vid can be such a blessing, depending on your feed. Now I'm clear that my career is going to be in ID and I'm currently working to get any ID roles off-campus.
Actually, it is the Mechanical Engineering Department. There are two branches within the Department: Mechanical and Manufacturing. You will be in the Manufacturing branch, but your parent Department will be Mechanical. So, welcome to the Department and the Institute.
Sir please bring electronics and telecommunication department ( I mean ece branch video) by the respective prof of that department. Please try to give insights about the curriculum and future scope.
Sir If I am doing my BTech in " Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering " from State government college , will I be able to give GATE exam in Computer Science and Engineering and take admission in IITs ???
The thing about 90 minutes sleep cycle, even though I too am not very sanguine about it, but it really seems to work for me, during my jee days and as well as college life. I try to stick to 4.5 to 6 hrs of sleep duration.
Hello sir , i will be joining nit warangal mech dept in like 1.5months . I have great intrest in video editing / coding / animations and stuff. So would it be wise to spend 80-90k on a laptop right now? Or should i wait and buy after 1st sem . ( Current laptop is outdated and used for lectures and stuff)
Sir if i get normal university degree suppose ug from the university burdwan, then doing i-phd from iiser kolkata. Are the eligible for becoming assistant professor in iit. ?????
Hello sir, I am Harsh from IIT Guwahati Mechanical , Can you tell me how can i know whether should I go for core jobs or for Coding Jobs ? Like I am going in 2nd year now The first year was common for all , So till now , I don't have any idea about Mechanical
Sir become trying to this topic things video how to run it company i am 1st year students possible to in 4 years computer science course i runig best company
You MUST! Practical classes are an important component of 10+2 studies. Without the lab experience students face difficulties during labs in engineering classes.
Not only you should ,you must .1st reason sir already stated and second reason some of the questions of main and advanced also come from topics which you will get to know through your practicals especially in chemistry ,even if you dont attend practicals atleast learn all the things which are in it like ncert lab manual has many reactions which can come in advance
hello sir, i'm in college life for past five years and now I'm thinking of pursuing PhD but i feel like I've never studied anything deeply. i used to stay with problems in my early years of the programme for days. But, in the era of easily accessiblity of chat gpt and other things i have created a big void of doubt and now whatever i ve studied and cleared all feels like just a random luck or coincidence, that i didn't put anything into it. Now if i want to move into academic field professionally I'm scared cause i feel i have to start everything from zero again, cause i don't know anything, It's going to take a lot of time. What should i do? please guide and help .
I'm also not sure, if its placebo but I have also tried to schedule my sleep in multiple of 1.5 hours and it seems to be working better than other hours.
Sir I wanted to be a scientist in DRDO due to some reasons I couldn't do btech after 12 th now I am in BSc (PCM) final year, now I have 2 ways - 1. Lateral entry in btech + Gate 2. Msc Physics from IIT + Gate Sir which one is better , Please Guide me
