Tone should still be capable of launching two floatplanes since her catapults were left intact when the lower deck floatplanes were removed, but Gaijin just hasn't bothered. Aoba was also added only a few months before usable floatplanes released and even has a detailed catapult but it's completely non-functional.

How to correctly play the IJN Mikuma: Step 1 - Set your Type 93 Long Lance torpedoes (20km range at 91km/h) to 4m dept mode (1 torp/1 kill even Battleships) Step 2 - Flood the enemy spawn with all your torpedoes in 4 waves (1 reload per side). Step 3 - Go play back as normal and after 5 minutes start getting "Target Destroyed" popping up on the screen at 1 minute intervals Step 4 - Enjoy your dopamine release
Finally, now you go an and kick that snail in the but/nutz so we can get the Japanese Navy up to real standard. And yes the did miss aa guns on their ships in the start of the war. If we get japanese battleship Yamato, if we get it, i hope we get the special ammo for the big guns too, to take out planes ! With the Suzuya (another Mogami class) I have the most success if I launch all of the torpedoes at a chockepoint/ the general direction of the enemy, so that I get a nice torpedo wall of death, Shure that means I can at most get 4 kills out of my torpedoes, but it is very reliable (and nothing survives getting hit by 3 Type 91 torpedoes, let alone 6, well apart from a BMP maybe...)
I’ve been able to kill some bbs with the Helena, mainly the Arizona witch is kinda sad cause I was getting focused by one and he still lost and I killed him
This thing in open ocean maps in specifically arcade battles is actually one of the most powerful ships in the game. It can spam out like over 200 torps in a game all of which deal insane damage and have like a 3 minute travel time to the other side. Grinded out majority of japan until the kongo doing that and the floatplanes make it super viable in case you get an island map.
i grinded the whole japanese tree with this thing. i was one of those people, i just bought the mikuma and that’s all i had in my lineup (i at least used backups), and this ship (and the yugure) is how i learned how to play naval. the funniest strat in this ship is to spam all your torps down a choke and then 5 minutes later you suddenly get a kill
Ah yeah. Got ammo racked by a single 76mm HE from an SKR-1 yesterday. Also heh damn yeah.. fond memories of the broken servers... They do love just... Ignoring that huh. As long as the shop works that's all they care about
Also it only gets that ugly Green (tropical island) camo, witch for other players is an invite: Its a gold noob, with a weak ship, probably has no any good backup; lets shoot it 1st! I don't get the BR logic around rank 4-5 cruisers like: - Why the HMS Kent is 6.0 when the much better HMS London and the Norfolk is 5.7 that shitty float-plane really worth a higher BR? HMS Liverpool + York (less turret) why both at 5.7 now? - IJN Yubari even against 4.7 DDs its weak and the tops are not even type 93s so why its still 4.7? + cruiser spawn! I'd even question the Aoba and Furutaka on 5.7, but their torps are good so... - Kerch (the CL) its still at 5.3 while its Italian sister(s) went up to 5.7, it even has better AA! Must be that float-plane thing again...
I'm fine with Yubari-chan at 4.7, pairs nicely with Yuudachi and Kyohimono (tongue twister name, sorry if i added a syllable) with solid AA and SAP if you dont mind getting close, but otherwise agree P.S. slightly irritated the A6M5 and A6M6 were both moved to 5.0, kind of ruined the air support section of my beautiful 4.7 lineup
@@ronaldthompson4989 The fighter for my DD lineup is the Ki-100 or if it has to be rank 3 the Ki-61-II, but if u want a turn-fighter the Ki-43-III can also carry 2x250kg bombs. As for ships the IJN has a good 4.3 lineup as well; and yes i have the Yuudachi and Kyohimono in my preset too, but i usually pick the Akizuki over the Yubari (as its sucks even against 5.0 cruisers), tough both crewed in the same preset, since the PT-15 lost its Mk.16 torps. aka since Japan lost its only worthy PT-boat.
@@TomPrickVixen i adore Yubari-chan. Yeah, she's shit in the long range trades that seem to be meta these days, but charge in to 4km or less, her magazines are safe from practically any gun and her rate of fire+SAP yield evicerates everything under 10k tons. Anything bigger doesnt have a chance of dodging her torpedoes. Was even more fun when her great wall of 25mm would hose down enemy gun crews, but gaijin restricted them
@@TomPrickVixen Ki-100-II is good but army plane (ew lol). My favorite ijn pt was the type 51. The type 2 torpedoes have excellent kick, acceptable speed and a perfect spread that all but garanteed a hit at any range you could launch (pray to the emperor your cloaking device is working) Since the T-15 got its new fish, its now my favorite. Slightly weaker (400-450) with much worse launch angles that prevent effect volley launching, but at 120 kilometers per hour they outrun some planes XD
@@ronaldthompson4989 My problem with the Type 51s is the same as with the British PT boats: WAY TOO SLOW! Even most cruisers are faster, and that's a "red flag" ! And I like taking at worthy PT boat even against BBs, but if there isn't one that has what it takes... not to mention "what if" i ran into another boat...

Pretty much until you reach BBs, everything in the entire japanese tree is trash. Coastal the only good ships are Synonan if your good with 25mms and the coastal 4.0 autocannon boat..
