That's just what happens if you wait in the spawn platform until it desappears. Link did't drop, the platform forced him to get back into battle, and it's been like that at least since melee.

@@ivanaviNiebla no i saw that but as he fell he had invincibility once he landed it was gone, usually lingers for a second no?

@@miroljesnjanin7567 Nope, the longer you stay on the spawn platform, the less invincibility time you have once you leave it. It seems that it was just a coincidence that he lost the invincibility at the same time he landed. Personally, I feel that the invincibility lasted longer than in previous games, taking into account that he stayed on the platform the full time it gives, but i'm not sure.

With how long you can charge smash attacks in Ultimate, it would be quite unpredictable for newer players to time the swing of the up smash. I'd be scared to parry too if he can charged up smash for 15 seconds or just randomly let go within that time.

@@iamhighlydisappointed9942 It sucks too, as this is a big nerf to counter specials. It is easier to bait counters with the longer charges.
