Also fyi. A lot of people complain about the Michael's drawers because they Don't pull out all the way. I had an easy fix to this. I just drilled an extra whole in each side of the drawers so the little plastic stopper would go there and the drawers opened more. Same concept of adding another whole to a belt

Micheals caught on to this & raised the price of the drawers significantly. It’s $66 each on sale. Normal price is now $110.

The reason is I bought my daughter a vanity. It was expensive & looked really nice, but then I looked at yours & I was really really sad. Your vanity has everything a vanity need specially space for everything that your make up needs to be put at or in the vanity & also places to put curling iron & blow dryers . My god your great at what you do. The vanity I bought my daughter has 1( one) drawer, that is it!! It has the big mirror the the smaller mirror on the side , you know to see the sides of your hair & or make-up. But I figured if I make her the vanity ( like the one you) . This is honestly so perfect. Looks a lot easier to put together than the Alex desk I have right now. I’m in the process of moving and this desk is soooo heavy. I wish I had your version, it’d be a lot easier to move around.

I just finished my vanity and I am loving it I bought an old desk and and huge mirror off a lady that didn't want it anymore both were different colors I went with black and silver and put lights on my vanity as well I did everything for about 89 dollars!! Best money I have ever spent lol

Great job! If you don’t want to permanently attach the top just use industrial Velcro on top of drawers and bottom of top. Holds entire unit together very well, will roll to move and come apart if needed to move to another location.

Some people put a piece of plexiglass over the desk top to protect it? Have you thought about that? If you do decide to do this, no one shows how they measure it or how they adhere it to the desk. If you do can show that whole process?

Hey I would like to correct something you mentioned! Not meaning to be mean or negative, but I work at michaels and some items will be Everyday Items which mean no coupons will apply to them and they won't ever be on sale or have any promos (such as buy one get one). If you go in the store, you can see if they're everyday items by checking the shelf price (the price tag on the shelf) it will be in fine print that it's an everyday item. Now online, I'm not too sure how to check it out but that's my input on this! Otherwise, I'm most likely going to make this DIY!

Hi Bethany, I have those drawers and I love them, the only down fall for that is the bottom of the drawers come out of its track, I had to divide my palettes, I told my husband to glue the screws so they won't fall out its track.

Oh also, how's the height for you? Uncomfortable? Heard it's lower to the ground.

@bargainbethany I like how you laid out the project and talked about it without repetition since other youtubers show all the steps. I have a few questions for you while I'm considering doing what you did here or buying the Ikea desk. 1. Is the board you used on top easier to clean compared to regular wood? I use loose powders and end up splashing makeup all over the surface. 2. Do you find the drawers, are they sturdy enough & easy to clean (let's say I want to store a bunch of setting spray or toner bottles together)? Also if I can afford the Ikea original, do you recommend it over the Michael's DIY for quality? I do like that this has wheels as I also have wood floors.
