now i know from comment,I was wrong in measuring the body length. The head is not included in the body length, so the actual body length is 15.3inch(39 cm). This means that the required toilet size was 23inch(58.5 cm). Thank you for your comments! コメントでご指摘いただいた通り、体長の計り方を間違っていました。 頭は体長に含めないそうで、実際の体長は39cm。 つまり必要なトイレの大きさは58.5cmでした。 コメントいただいた方、ありがとうございます!!
It’s about time someone finally decided to market a proper size litter box!!!!!! Why no one has done this prior to this escapes me. I’ve been using an under the bed storage box forever!! Nice long box but sides aren’t as high as this one so I’m buying 2 of them!!! THANK YOU IKEA!!!!!!
I bought my cat a large litter box and she still manages to miss sometimes. She usually does everything near the edge of the box, facing inwards, and then it's apt to go over the edge. I have to keep the litter box on a large plastic bag. I had one big one from a pet shop and another one from Trago Mills.
im using one of those infant plastic bathtubs that are big and deep since forever cause my cat used to be one of those diggers now that he is 18 he doesnt dig that deep 😂
We found that our Bengals often pee standing up, so I got high sided storage boxes from my local hardware store to use for litter boxes. I also put the litter to 10cm deep so that the pee doesn't reach the bottom. This makes it much easier to scoop. I'm very grateful that my cats don't play in the litter tray like yours did!
hahahaha! thats so fun! wow bengal must be beautiful. I see. The shape of the toilet changes depending on the cat. Is it true that Bengal cats are not afraid of water and love to play in it?
One of my cats did that when he was a kitten…. He also never learned how to properly bury it when he’s done so he just throws the litter. Like literally throws it, sometimes multiple feet outside of the litter box, then turns around and is confused why it’s not covered 😭
My mum got tired of the kitty litter being flicked around so much so decided to buy a large storage container. Has been fine for our larger cat but our smaller cat started to pee in the bathroom. I put out a normal size tray and saw her peeing one day. She had her front paws on the edge of the tray. Turns out that's how she likes to do her business and the large container was too tall for her. She hasn't peed in the bathroom since. It also took me a stupid amount of time to realise I wasn't putting enough litter in the tray. Clumping litter needs to be deep.
I just want to tell you that me and my boyfriend discovered your channel 3 months ago and since then we've been watching every new video you post! We love it! This video specifically changed our lives because we have 3 cats and one of them always peed on the floor since he was a kitten (he's now 4). We tried changing the litter, we tried having 5 litter boxes at the same time and nothing worked, he sometimes would stay one week without peeing on the floor but then again he would do it 🤣 we watched your video and thanks to you we bought a HUGE box and he loved it! It's been almost 12 days he's doing everything on the new litter box
I was really surprised. HAMA was pooping right next to her. Maybe she was having fun playing cat litter out and was tired. I was also tired from cleaning cat litter.
@@zhexter1234 I wish but last time I used something that wasn't clay my cat took revenge out on the sofa. It took 15 days of kitty anxiety meds and an immediate switch back to clay to convince him I wouldn't do it again.
thank you for watching! This book was the first time I heard of him, so I was surprised when I saw him in person on youtube. LOL! And the name of the channel on Animal Planet, in Japan, is "Cat Helper / I'll teach you how to train your cat.” I like the original title better because it's more interesting. My cat from hell!!
Kohaku's face seeing his 3 new litter boxes and going "OH MY GOD! I HAVE SO MUCH SPACE!" then he plays like it is a kid's sand box instead of toilet wwww lmao
I ran into this same issue with a huge, 25lb+ cat I had years ago. Very few mass produced things are built for cat that size, including litterboxes. I ended up finding a pair of rubbermaid totes and trimming them at the top to use as litterboxes. They worked great, and eventually became inserts for the custom cabinet we built for them.
Thank you for watching. Your cat is very lucky to have an owner who can provide her with something that fits her size. I used to think that the normal way to buy a cat toilet was to buy one that was made as a cat toilet. But this time, I learned a lot from the comments section, where many people were trying different methods. I heard that cement-mixing trays and IKEA's baby baths are also good. They are big, cheap, and have rounded corners so it's easy to scoop out the cat litter.
i started watching your videos to get ideas for my home and halfway through, i noticed my cats were entranced! when kohaku started jumping around, they would follow along and see if he jumped out of the tv, it was so cute! i now play your videos for them if i ever want them to calm down from their zoomies 😂
I switched to large storage bonds with lids almost 2 years ago.. we cut a hole for them to get in and out and we love the larger boxes (so do the cats 🐈). My male cat was so large he couldn't fit his entire body in a store bought litter box.
thank you for watching! wow its so big!! that is good idea too. I used to think that the most common way to buy a cat toilet was to buy one made as a cat toilet, so I am glad to get various ideas from the comments section here. Some people are using trays to mix cement or baby baths.
Been using clear Rubbermaid under the bed sized totes as litter boxes for years. SO thankful for them! Unscented low dust litter with a bit of Feline Pine mixed throughout....huge difference! ☺
I bought a large plastic storage bin and cut a door out of the front so there's lots of room AND it's walled. That way my little idiot can kick and dig without such an explosive mess
yep. we bought some good sized storage bins from Target (between 8 and 20 bucks, depending on the size of your cat), cut a hole in one end and a perfect litter box: high sided to keep the litter in, easy to clean and cheap to replace.
@@diogeneskoolaid8437 although this is just me worrying for nothing. I hope the sides/holes you cut are taped or sanded! Plastic can be very sharp, and I wouldn't want you or your cat (though in reality, you are more at risk of injury) to get a cut. Especially since it's essentially a place where your cat goes to the toilet
I have mine walled in, roofed, and wrapped in a giant garbage bag except for the entry. I have one of those mats that is supposed to catch the litter, but it needs to be quadruple the size. Nothing stops my darling 19 1/2 year old kittiot from kicking, spreading, and tracking the litter. Sigh.
I use stainless steel food servers.... didn't want plastic because it holds onto the smell. The high sides and rounded corners are perfect. Cleaning them is a breeze.
We have a BIG cat - he can't squat in a regular litter box and keep the poop in the box. So we use plastic storage boxes, inside a BIG storage tub to hold any litter he shoves out. The side of the tub was cut away for access. And if you place the exit over a BIG washable doormat it tends to trap most of the litter from the paws. Now if we could keep him from doing a parcour run in and out of the box that would be great.
@@topcat4421 I use 2 of the medium size ones for my Ragdoll boys from Home Depot which are 28" x 20" x 6" and $7.27 each. The large is a whopping 33" x 21" x 7-7/8", but it also costs more than twice as much, so the medium size is a much better deal.
@@dh2392 Thanks for the suggestion. I'll go back to Home Depot and see if I can find them. I can put the larger one I bought on the porch. We sit on the porch on the evenings and weekends when the weather is nice.
Kudos to you sir for creating a fantastic and playful environment for your kitties, they look so happy! Everybody on this planet should be like you 🙌😺😻😽❤️
I just love watching your kitty playing! He has so much energy🤪! I also prefer using big storage tubs instead of litter boxes👍. What a fun video😄! Love all your kitties💝. Thank you🌻!
thank you for watching! If I can catch the youtube dream, I would like to build a cat house. I've seen houses on youtube where humans and cats can live together, but I've never seen a house just for cats. I would like to think of various ideas and put them into practice for when that time comes.
thank you for watching! hahaha sorry for that. but i think same thing to you now. In the comments section of this video, I was told that IKEA baby baths or cement mixing trays are better. They're just as cheap, and they have rounded corners that make it easier to scoop out the cat litter. It's true that if the cat pees in the corner, it would be hard to scoop it out with a square. I wish I had known that first!
A week! So you can still return it! I hope you get your money back, but while you're add it get a suitable and cheaper alternative :). Everyone likes saving money, but if it suits you and you're okay with it, well, you know what to buy next time when it breaks!
@@PoptartParasol I didn’t return it as the cats have used it already. But yeah definitely know now there’re good and cheaper alternatives to buy next time!
I went to my local ACE Hardware store and picked up a mortar tray for about $12.50. It is used for mixing mortar when you want to lay bricks or cinder blocks. It is 18 in wide, 24 inches long and about 6 inches deep. It is well made and better than any "Cat Litter Box".
thank you for watching! i thought IKEA's one is perfect.but many people said mortar tray is perfect. and i agree that. The bottom is curved to make it easy to scoop. i need to make new video about more perfect litter box! thank you to advise!
Wow! That young one is full of energy! I used to have Norwegian Forest Cats. Since they are large cats, I used 60 liter round heavy duty mixing tubs as litter boxes. Think the type of tubs used for mixing concrete in. They were the only containers large enough to fit the cats and worked like charm.
Good video. I’ve had many cats, and do something similar, but I use deep storage bins. I cut a U-shaped entrance on one side, with a litter mat outside the entrance. It’s, big enough to be comfortable, high enough that litter doesn’t get everywhere when they scratch the litter to cover their deposit. I still vacuum in the area every day, but it’s a million times cleaner than before. The commercial kitty boxes are way too small and shallow. Completely agree with this content creator
I don't have a IKEA store near me, but I will take those measurements to my local hardware store and home improvement store to see what I can find. Thank you for this video! :)
thank you for watching! now i know from comment,I was wrong in measuring the body length. The head is not included in the body length, so the actual body length is 15.3inch(39 cm). This means that the required toilet size was 23inch(58.5 cm). If you are going to measure the length of your cat, plz dont measure worng way like me. hope you can find good litter box!
It's crazy what companies will charge for what amounts to a plastic storage bin. I had one from HD with a broken lid and got the same idea as this guy, though my motivation was that the deeper sides would keep my cat from kicking litter all over the laundry room. Cost, free. She has no problem getting in and out because she's a cat.
We use the large (30-50 gallon size) storage tubs with high sides, and cut an easy-entry, cat-sized opening on one side. Over the years we’ve had a few “diggers,” “slingers,” and “stand-up pee-ers” and decided the high sides were essential. Otherwise, very similar in dimensions to what these kitties chose.
thank you for watching! SLingers are scary. LOL They also sold a type with high sides, so I was not sure which one to choose. If the one I chose this time was not good, I would buy that one. So far I've had no problems except for the first day, so I'm going to use it as is.
I already used IKEA boxes for my cat's litter box (SAMLA box I think). Im using it for the following reasons: It's big, I can see if there's any dirt on it, I can close it using the lid (good for traveling and weekends), my cat can pee or drop his dung even if I'm driving 50 km/hr.(but of course, we need to stop and throw the dung as it smells inside for few seconds.) and lastly it fits in my Hyundai Tucson. So, I bought 2 boxes, one for litter box and one for my cat's accessories (food, water fountain, accessories, medicines, etc. ) , it's easy to bring in and out of the house & load to my car. The bad side of it, the plastic is not scratch proof so it leaves some claw marks on the base. But overall, love the IKEA SAMLA
OMG'sh!! I laughed so hard at Kohaku playing with the litter that my little trouble-maker came running to see what was up. I'm glad she only used it for a playground that first day. I've seen my cats sleep in some pretty strange places - bathtub, suitcase, sink, roof-top (before the trouble-maker moved in with me), but never a litter pan. Thank you for sharing your genius ideas!
Thank you for watching. Your cat can sleep in so many places.lol For the first time, I left the camera in place for a day. Then I saw a cat sleeping in the bathroom. i never know what they are doing when people are not looking. I'll leave the camera on again.
👏😊 Cool idea and awesome video! The big box makes your cats really happy. 😺 Perhaps you can put the same box upside down on top and cut out an entrance...?
thank you for watching everytime! thats nice idea! but im planning to build a bathroom shed so that i don't have to step on cat litter anymore. if you make it,its better to make 2 entrance. coz cat need escape way otherwise they can not feel safe. i was taught it just now from comments.
ha ha ha - great video. love your editing. the footage of your 9-month old playing in the litter box is the reason i would get a high-sided litter box or a higher-sided storage bin for him - it will prevent all of that litter scatter. or maybe even put the one that has 3 high sides into the lower-sided one and let that collect the litter scatter?
thank you for watching! im sorry i have mistake about measuring. now i know from comment,I was wrong in measuring the body length. The head is not included in the body length, so the actual body length is 15.3inch(39 cm). This means that the required toilet size was 23inch(58.5 cm). plz choose correct size cat toilet.
I like your "helper" for measuring! 😍 I used a big, square, plastic tray for under real Christmas trees as a kl pan for my last cat. She was big, old, and arthritic, and had trouble peeing inside a normal kl pan. 💖💕A vet tech advised low sides to help her. 💕💖 Piling "The Worlds Best Kitty Litter" in the middle solved the problem for both of us.
We didn’t get it from IKEA but I had a similarly shaped shoe storage box. Since I got ride of a lotta shoes, I converted the old box into a litter box. It’s perfect for the all the stray cats, big and small! 😃
This has been so helpful. My senior cat has been having issues with his large covered toilet. Uirine ebds up outside on the floor. He's a large cat. I took the cover off and it stopped for a bit. Now it's happening again. I moved it away from the wall to give him headroom and it seems to help but I may just get this larger option.
Arm & Hammer sifting litter boxes with Feline Pine litter is the best thing I've tried and I've tried everything. No dust from clay, way less stink and the cats drag very little out of the box.
I use pine pellets too! Literally THE best litter. You can try to find them at feed store or Tractor Supply for cheaper, look for wood pellets/pellet bedding, not advertising for cat litter but exact same stuff. A 40lbs bag usually cost me $8
@@Mary_Beth_Reimers@@Mary_Beth_Reimerthat's why it's better to use a sifting litter box @@Mary_Beth_Reimerit @@Mary_Beth_Reimer. You will scoop out poo that looks like poo.
I bought the 3 pack of gray tubs from Costco that are used in restaurants to clear away dishes. I think they were around $20 but not sure if they carry them any more
I found that those large transparent 3 by 4 foot chair mats for carpet are the best thing to put under your litter box. They cannot damage them and easy to sweep up. Or clean as needed. If you use thin material they will tear it up and those litter catchers also catch pee if your cat makes a mistake and then must be washed outdoors or replaced.
That was so funny! Great editing! Your reactions made me laugh. I love the kitten. I wonder if Jackson Galaxy subscribes to your channel? Time to ask him….. 🏃♀️✊💭🤔😁 #teamcatmojo
In Korea, there are several cat toilet products that are large enough. They were recently released. According to a veterinarian specializing in cat behavior, it is better to use a square than a rectangle because cats turn backwards in the toilet after using it.
Would love to know more about what type of litter you use and how you clean it. I don't know if they sell that kind in the US. Closest I've seen is the Breeze litter system, but it requires a sifting sort of box with a peed pad underneath. I've also heard of pine pellets being a great option.
thank you for watching! it made by recycle paper. i think its most popular in japan. coz its cheap, and easy to dispose. and stores sell it on the biggest shelves. It can be disposed of as burnable waste. It can also be flushed down the toilet. The color changes and hardens when water is splashed on it, so it is easy to identify and easy to dispose of. i will show you in next video about that. coz a lot of people ask it.
I spun my litter box around so the low entryway was against the wall. They still flicked out the litter and I once caught one of them with their bum over the edge peeing outside the box.
I actually use a Tactix heavy duty multi purpose stackable storage bin as a storage box! It's about $20 AUD and has really tall sides but the front is easily accessible by the cat as it is lower than the other sides. It's also really sturdy and has handles :D
It's good to see that Kohaku's principal elements are earth and specifically clay! He now can effectively gather Healing energies and mana for spells in his new boxes.
Covering the litter tray so that there is no escape route can make the cat nervous about being ambushed by another cat while toileting. In that case, the cat won't use it, and will find somewhere else to toilet.
thank you for watching! thats nice. im planning to build a bathroom shed so that i don't have to step on cat litter anymore!! >Ben Stanley thank you so much to tell me about escape. when i make bathroom for cat, i will make 2 entrance!
I invested in a huge lidded clear plastic tote that I cut a doorway into the end. My big Rubbermaid plastic bin just fits inside it and keeps litter from spreading and smells controlled. It works amazingly well!
@@benstanley9788 I can see that. We adopted our two cats as adults, and their litter box came inside a large wooden bench with an entrance on the short side. I guess they were used to it and don't feel threatened.
Both of my cats back up to the low corners of their boxes and often pee over the edge. I have doggy training pads under the boxes. Even though the back sides of the boxes are high, they always pee over the lower front sides. Sigh. Cats. 😺
thank you for watching! we need to choose one depends on cat calactor. I was told in the comments section that some people are using IKEA baby baths. It's taller and has rounded corners so it's easier to scoop than a square tray.

I've always had big cats and don't use 'litter boxes'. I've always used storage trugs, the half tall size. I've had the same one for 15 yrs. I also use very deep litter so the pee doesn't reach the bottom and doesn't stick. I scoop everyday. I top off frequently. I only have 1 cat and she's very clean. She's 17 now and still hunts. She's on a raw meat diet for the last 5 yrs. When she was tiny, I made her steps into her huge box. I showed her ONCE. She got it. 😁
thank you for watching! i think so too. it will be for another cat who is 13 years old. she dont live this room any more because she attack Kohaku a lot.
We have six cat so we need 7 litter boxes. To save our floor/ rug we use a large dog welding tray for all the litter boxes to sit in. A welding tray if for a new mommy dog who needs to nurse her babies and get time for herself. The mommy can get out but not the babies. We got one for a mastiff.
cut and put in your existing cat litter a double plastic crate (used for rabbit litters) with flat plastic crate (so cat's feet do not get harmed), they can be cut to fit. You can put some wood pallets under, or nothing and simply dispose to toilet pee that by the way goes to the bottom of the crate so does not diry cat feet and poop on top so you can toss it out to toilet. You can put some dishwasher detergent and rinse. And then put for example some baking soda if you choose
