IKEA Milsbo - How to convert it into a terrarium

The first time I looked at that cabinet at my local IKEA, I knew someone would eventually transform it into a terrarium.

Yes, if you have the time and money it's doable. But I would not be surprised the cost on the finalized terratium is twice the price of the MILSBO between the foam, silicon, decor, humidifier, lights, etc.

It's a fun project, but try to be outside for the silicone, it's smell like hell!

It's gorgeous. I would love to see an update in a few months. I know two people who used Milsbo for Terrariums too but they both had the water problem you mentioned. One somehow rusted at the bottom and leaked and the other had a leakage at the back right eh metal pillar so keep an eye out for water damage. Where I live it is technically much cheaper to buy glass or plexiglass and build it yourself but most dont realize that. I consider making one sometime but I know it is quite a project

I'll tell here to check the bottom and will do an update in a few month. By the way, I knew a guy that build it's own triangle terrarium to put in the corner of his living room... that was gorgeous! He did the math and all by himself... I'm not that good in math taking into consideration the the thickness of the glass etc. haha

The expanding foam may detach from the glass over time. Best practice is to put a layer of silicone before the foam, which will stick to the glass better than the foam by itself.
