In the late 1960s my mom refinished a suite of garage sale furniture in a similar color for my baby sister. That green is still her favorite color. We lost mom in June - watching you paint that dresser brought back a wonderful memory. Thank you.
WOW! What a change from the original piece. Seeing the two side by side at the end was amazing. No one would guess they are the same. I had some doubts about the dark stain for the top at first, but seeing how it looked in the end, well, I really liked it! I think it looked more office like with the castors. I would have regular legs for a bedroom table or other room in the house. Maybe keep the castors for a kitchen? Anyway, I really liked how it came out and congrats for going through all that work to make it look so good. Setting up the spray tent in itself was a feat! You have such good instincts and I admire your work so much. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Good to see you Andy ! I hope you have a wonderful season with lots of suprises . Love the color you choose for your first project. looking forward for the rest.
I must confess that I almost enjoy your fable intros more than the actual transformations. Is it really bad of me ? Let's split it fifty-fifty. But I love every single one of your videos !
Andy your story telling always makes my day. Then your furnitrue knowledge gets me in trouble in the garage. I say i'm doing a Andy trick just watch an see. You are a wonderful teacher thank you hugs
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy have a great week with your fables. Shhhh i think i'm your sister . I'm always telling the grandkids something silly about my furnitrue finds....
Nice work! You did really well with those straight cuts. If you want to add a little chamfer detail, a piece of sandpaper wrapped around the corner of a woodblock works well. Just run the corner down the center of the cut. Gives a little illusion of depth. In case it is ever useful: If you want to get dead straight cuts with a circular saw, you can clamp a straight piece of wood to the work to guide your circular saw. Just measure the offset from the side of the shoe to the edge of the teeth on the blade and clamp your guide with that offset. So if the shoe is 1" from the right side of your blade to the right side of the shoe/base of your saw, then just clamp your guide 1" to the right of the line you want to cut. This works for through cuts as well if you ever need a longer rip cut and don't have a tablesaw handy.
Ohh I can't wait to see how you doll up the rest of these beauties! With this little freshman you've got the fantasies started. I just wish I had the tools and the work area. See ya on the next video 😊.
I loved the intro and this hack! The scary lady was her usual self but she didn't scare me this time! Ha! Naked furniture... They just leave so much scope for the imagination! Hope you had a pleasant break. You were missed but glad you took the time for yourself and family. Looking forward to the other drawers. Let's hope they're not droopy!
Hi, Andy, and welcome back! Good to see you and the Freshman both; those casters make it a really versatile little piece. Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for the rest of those little Swedish chaps! Cheers from NE Florida.
Yay! Your back!!! Yay Yay Yay Yay I know it’s too hot to paint in Calif, I’m in the Central Valley 110 degrees tomorrow and 109 the rest of the week. 🔥
Ohhhhh maaaannnnn...so sorry!! Yes, going to be pretty hot here too, possible low 100s....fingers crossed it passes by next week! Stay cool, and thanks so much! 🤓🙏📚
What a great versatile piece of furniture that would just about fit into any room in the house. I especially love your decision to add the casters. The older I get the more I’m looking at pieces that allow me to easily move them around and be able to change their purpose instead of getting rid of it. ❤️
Oooh! I love the 'Freshman' and can't wait to see all of the classmates!!! That turned out so well - the casters were definitely the right fashion accessory! Practical too!
Welcome Back my friend.....I Am So Happy you're Back with a Wonderful fable and a beautiful transformation...I can't believe We are already In September. .🥰❣️👍
So stoked for Season 4!! I love that you mention all of the possible stopgaps to starting furniture flipping. I hadn't thought of emotional or historical attachment as being reasons people would avoid going for it, that's incredibly interesting!
You seriously bring a smile to my face when I see that a new Fables has been released. Ok, so maybe I let out a very audible shout of excitement that had my kids asking what was going on. They wouldn’t get it and they don’t need to - Fables is my guilty pleasure, and mine alone 😁! Gorgeous piece - so happy to see you back!
Thanks for cheering up this sad Brit. We feel so worried this side of the pond! Inflation/Truss/deepening political gloom. Thanks for being so cheerful, informative and amusing!
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. And if I was able to lift your spirits even a smidge, I am so glad to hear it! Thank you so much for sharing - I hope the fables continue to be a tiny bit of levity and cheer in these tough times! ♥️♥️♥️
Hi Andy, wonderful to see you back I've missed your fables, I love this piece talk about a transformation definitely a fantastic ")schoolastic"piece😅, but I do love this colour it reminds me of a Dixie bell paint colour ive recently tried, mint julep, but I do prefer to use fusion paint , im looking forward to seeing what you do with the other 4 pieces, your never disappoint my friend and I so enjoy your videos, take care all the best always Mary in Australia 🌻😊
Welcome back, Andy! Great start to Season Four!🎉 This first little dresser is a fabulous flip. I can’t wait to see what you do with the others. So very many possibilities! Also, special appreciation to your excellent music choices this week.🌸
Staging! Oh my. Each design idea was ingenious. It’s easy to see your considerable artistic talent. The Freshman’s new color is beautiful. Can’t wait to see the rest of the magic.
Thank you so much, Kelli!! That's so sweet - this really does feel like home. ♥️ And yes - I am LOVING the all in one stain - it transformed that humble pine top. 🤓📚🌿
Hello Andy. Welcome back to season 4 - your piece turned out really nice! I love the color you used, as well as the split between the drawers. What a transformation.👍🥰🥰🥰❤️
So happy your are back, but that summer went way too fast!! Love Upper Canada but I think they have discontinued it. They do however have some new shades that just released so more fun in the making! Wonderful episode as always! Welcome back, great to see you!
Thanks Jana!! They are just simple reading glasses that I need when I work or film. (or I can't see the camera 😂) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09NFBCPST/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I cant decide wich is stronger--form or function. She's a gorgeous color and your staging.is clever, but I always enjoy your fables most of all. LOL!! Love you 😍
Great to see you back Andy. Missed your adventures. What a fabulous job you did with this one. It's absolutely beautiful. Love the green and I didn't think the top would come out as dark as it did. I was expecting an orangey tone. Beautiful. Might have to pop some of that pine stain oil into my next order of fusion. I've tried their cappucino sfo and I really like the colour of that.
Many thanks, Emer!! Yes, I was really impressed with this stain, it has made this humble pine into something really pretty. Looking forward to trying cappuccino myself! 🤓📚🌿
This is so cute, Andy! The color reminds me of a vintage file cabinet. Just right for a college dorm room. Next time you might want to use a router for the drawer fronts to create that line. I love the idea that it's not something you are emotionally attached to like an antique or grandmas credenza. While I love the painted look and I know it is the trend now. I think we need to give a good thought to painting natural woods. When the trend swings back to stained woods we need to consider what the process will be for stripping these kinds of pieces so they are "in style" again. I just stripped a natural wood dresser that had four coats of wall paint and believe me it gave me pause when it comes to simply painting solid wood furniture.
Thanks so much, Karen! And yes, I agree with you...trends will shift for sure. (Although, it is true that some amount of painted furniture has been around and desirable for hundreds of years, so not sure if it will ever fully disappear). But that said...I've never stripped chalk or mineral style paint off a piece, only stripped latex. I have certainly sanded a good amount of it off. My thinking is that any finish done with quality products and with quality techniques is a great to place to start.
