My great grandfather worked at a Messerschmitt factory in Austria during the war. The factory was frequently bombed and my great uncle who lived there used to go up into the mountains to find pieces of shot down aircraft
Amazing trigger discipline! I would have fired much earlier in some of those passes and wasted ammo on trying to get a deflection shot. You timed your bursts perfectly. I'm impressed 👏 Great video! 👍
Thanks mate!! I notice the same thing and think it might be a bug... It seems that the frontal gunners shoot in the wrong direction. If I'm at his 10 o'clock, he shoots at 2 o'clock. I need to confirm. o7
The RAF Wellington Bomber's had machine gunner's too.....it wasn't strictly an American idea.....and if this video was set up correctly.....those MG operator's use to shoot back, making it a lot more difficult to shoot them down, than this is shown...... it's true it really is..... you might NOT see it in a ridiculous Hollywood blockbuster movie, but you can read about it ! Them bugger's would actually shoot back you... If one isn't illiterate find an out dated antique object called Book's and switch off your computer contraption and God forbid discover the trueth !.
@@JorgeHFJ I come for the scenery, the blue skies and waters, the historical accuracy, the gyrating action. This particular video demonstrates why it was not particularly desirable to be crewing a Wellington bomber with sparse fighter cover. Respect for those that did.
Why Welington guners "slept"? I also have this Blitz game in my computer. Attack on single Welington is many time suicide mission, attack the group is certain "death". Soo maybe i have dificulty on highest level. Also it is easier when with britain plane especialy Beaufighter attack german bombers.

I am most eager to enjoy this when it is released... and have been following it as closely as anyone else. But.... I have to say that a bomber kill on every pass (with cannon) is not realistic. Just my opinion.
Thank you for the feedback. I can't disagree with you. The real-world situation would be completely different... Just knowing that your life would be in danger would change things a lot!
Am new to this game, no idea how you do it so smoothly - my aircraft nose always seems to drift about when attacking so can never get crosshairs properly on target. Practice practice I guess :D
Hey, mate! You guessed right, practice is key! Try to plan your moves and do them very slowly and smoothly... also, you can set different sensitivities on each joystick axis to help you achieve that. The drifting you mention can be compensated applying just a bit of rudder
@@JorgeHFJ : No. Wellingtons only did daylight bombing raids in 1939, on the north German ports, and neither the Hurricane nor the Spitfire had the range to escort them, so they went on their own. Losses were extremely heavy, and the Wellington was switched to night raids only.
In the summer of 1941, when Hitler invaded the USSR, the RAF launched a series of bomber raids with escorting Spitfires and Hurricanes over Northern France, known as Circus and Ramrod, with the intention of forcing the Luftwaffe to move some units from the Eastern Front back to France. They failed miserably, because the JG 2 and 26 were more than enough to inflict serious losses to the incursions, and no Luftwaffe unit assigned to Barbarrossa returned to France, at least in 1941 and 1942 (only for rest and reacreation). I don't remember the types of British two-engines bombers involved, but I consider plausable that Wellingtons were used.
Elrusoargentino : They were Blenheims, Beauforts, Hampdens, and Hudsons. Light bombers. Faster than the Wellington (which was a heavy bomber) and more agile, although with a lighter bombload of course.

Wow, just like real footage but I've often wondered if the realism would be hugely advanced if there was a real world penalty to pay if you're shot down. What I mean is kinda how keen would we be to fly alone into the concentrated fire of 6-9 rear turrets if for instance there was a small real time fine for being shot down?

I would say that they are complementary. Despite being older, released around 2011, Cliffs of Dover was updated recently with new sounds, a new plane (Beaufighter) and some visual effects. In some ways, I find its graphics more photorealistic then BoS. But the number and variety of flyable planes on BoS is bigger. Also, BoS have a bigger player base. In the near future, we'll have another expansion of Cliffs which will add more 45 plane variants to the game and a new map of North Africa.
It is the blitz version. It incorporates Team Fusion's 4.5 mod and some other improvements. They still making changes and improvements. Soon we'll have a new map and new planes! =D A 2020 gaming PC can run it quite easily.
1:03 Compared with the ww2 gun camera, it can not damage with such ambiguous aim. In combat, you need to get closer to get an effective hit. Power of the machine gun is too high in IL2.
@@JorgeHFJ I mean all of them, I have no idea how guns sounded to pilots back at the time but I figure large machine guns let alone cannons inches apart from you wouldn't sound like that.
Yeah, it is difficult to know for sure... I think heard some time ago (don't remember where) that a WWII pilot said that he couldn't hear the guns at all. The engine sound was all he heard... he could only feel the vibration of the guns firing. But it might depend on which type of gun also... =/
