Another very informative video. One thing I've been told about variable pitch spits and hurricanes is that for optimal speed the engine should be at 2600 RPM (65%) if it's too high I've been told that it actually slows you down. I've been flying under this assumption for a few months now and it seems to be true although I could be wrong.
I really don't understand how to configure these .30 Brownings. I tried a lot of diferent horizontal and vertical ranges and ammos. The result is always they being terribly bad. In comparison to the MG 17, this one seems to have a much faster bullet with bigger precision, I have no problems with it in this game.
The MG17 is indeed better in several regards such as rate of fire (unsynchronized), muzzle velocity and average projectile weight. The saving grace for the .303 is the Dixon round (incendiary) which is much more effective than regular incediary rounds fired by both Browning and MG17. I use a 300m convergence, half my guns fire AP, the other half fire Dixon rounds with a tracer in every 10-12 rounds.
It's the Mk.VIz "DeWilde". A Belgian by that name invented this type of round, however it proved to be unsuited for mass production. A guy by the name of Dixon however invented a new round, which was partly based on the original DeWilde design, that made it into service in 1939.
