Many Thx to You Chris, i loved and love this sim, again ....from so many years ago (sorry my sad english)...maybe we fought togheter... is so much time i don't fly 4 many reason maybe i'm too old, anyway... best regards to you and who you love ;)
roberto loprencipe It was the TB-3 I was looking for. Fascinating plane; worthless, of course, but fascinating. I couldn't find it because for some reason, I thought it was American, but it's actually Russian. Makes me think of a flying ship with wings, LoL. Flew around in it on my game at home for fun. Engines prone to overheating, wooden props, underpowered, the pilots operated the craft with a ship's wheel, LoL. The fact it is so "ship like" is what fascinates me. I like Sturmovik, though it's been a long time since I've played. When online, my call sign was "Cajun". I sucked, generally just got shot down all the time with a one kill in a thousand attempts out of sheer luck, heh heh. It's definitely a hard core simulator. I also like B-17 Flying Fortress; an old game. What I like about that game is the accurate depiction of how the Norden Bombsite actually works. In Sturmovik, you are required to fly the plane manually while you set up for your bomb run. The true Norden Bombsite was a mechanical computer that actually flew the plane; so when the bomb run started and the Bombardier turned on his bombsite, the Bombardier was flying the plane. B-7 Flying Fortress is the only game I have ever found that accurately depicts the Norden Bombsite. I ald so liked how, in B-17, the joystick operated the guns, giving a much more realistic feel and (for me) superior control over the guns than the Sturmovik's method of the mouse. Sturmovik is far, far superior for fighter plane simulation; B-17, you can fly them, but they just don't ... feel right, if that makes any sense. If Sturmovik would integrate the accurate depiction of bombsite autopilot and make the guns operable by joystick instead of mouse, then Sturmovik would be perfect, imo.
Christopher Pike There is an utility out there (free, of course) that lists all Il-2 aircrafts, up to 4.09 if I recall correctly, and it lets you compare them, with a lot of detail: www.mission4today.com/uploads/DL2010/images/06/1735_hardball_409.jpg You can download it here: www.mission4today.com/index.php?file=details&id=3948&name=Downloads
