+armyoldsweat Ripping up old sores is not this piece's intention. It just wants to immortalize the heroism of all those who fought and/or gave their lives for what they believed was a just cause.
Beautiful just Beautiful My Dad loved this where we played it at his wake with pictures of his life shown on the laptop screen R.I.P. DAD Your missed duty done stand easy dismissed😢❤🎉
Absolutely beautiful version, as a kid I saw a lady named Kathy at Skipsea market and was engrossed with the music as was my mam and dad so they bought the tape
This piece of music reminds me how fortunate I was to have my son coming safely after 3 tours of duty from overseas. He is safely back home in Canada 🇨🇦
@@bobbeck5866 I fully agree with you. I can always remember the first time I ever heard it. I was only 20 at the time and it was played on a juke box in a club I belonged to. It has always remained a memory ever since. Just curious, were the 46 commandos stationed at Bickleigh near Plymouth. Best wishes to you. Edith.
@@ediedavey2110 Hi Ed, My father would most certainly be giving me a good dressing down were he here to do so. He was in 45 Commando not 46. My Father was at Lympstone near Exmouth where he underwent his basic training
@@bobbeck5866 I know Lympstone village quite well. Actually my first husband was a Colour Sergeant at the Marine Barracks there. I actually live about 18 miles north of Exeter. I also got the 46 commandos wrong. They were actually stationed near Dorchester in Dorset
I was in GERMANY back in 1967 when I heard this song. It has stuck in my brain from that time. Taps played in this was is great for the time we are in now. We have lost over 100 thousand people during this bad time. May all R.I.P. and God be with them.
I was in Germany in 1967 too when I first heard this song. Once we moved back to Canada in 1970, my father used to play it every July 1st long weekend as the last song. We usually had between 25 and 40 people to our place, all ex-service and their families, eventually all the kids' significant others and eventually their kids too. Such good memories.
This makes me think of a fallen hero, my brother. He fought in Vietnam and survived. It was last year he was killed in a car accident. He is still a fallen hero. I was given his flag.
War is a nightmare. Let us remember those, men and women, young and old, who were butchered upon it's altar, and try to make our society today a more just and peaceful one.
eric3844 , each working day in Britain 800 babies are killed by abortion in hospitals and clinics up and down the country. 10,000,000 killed since 1967 That’s in Britain alone. Industrial scale massacre of unborn babies throughout the world. Good people stay silent - tight lipped. Why ? Maranatha, come Lord Jesus.
I remember that moment I bought a 45 rpm Vinyl " Il Silenzio ". You make my eyes are tearful. Where are the good old years ? Thanking you for sharing. Blessings.
et merci aussi a nos amis et artistes italiens qui ont l art d inventer de magnifiques musiques!!je pense aussi a sergio morricone!!et bien sur silenzio!!
Het raakt mij , tranen vloeien over mijn wangen. Van al het leed en verdriet. In oorlog en onvrede. Laten wij lief zijn voor elkaar . Dat we in vrede mogen leven. ❤️🦋
New Eddie personally as he and my mother and father was friends, he had both his Gold Discs on the gates of his house in PRESTON LANCASHIRE IN THE UK, prior to moving to Africa. For the Drinkers out there his Local was the Hesketh Arms followed by Acregate on New hall lane.
The best trumpet solo ever. On holiday in Spain I stayed at the hotel Kaktus in Albir. Often the eveing entertainment was Crystal. 2 brothers. Jose , one of the brothers would play this. The whole audience were absolutely silent every time he played this. Marvellous.
