I didn't know such a thing as a 'draw' existed until I saw this video. I agree fully with the other commentors who talked about this being the real deal - improvising and aligning with the music and each other spontaenously with a 'new' partner rather than the more typcial canned coreography honed/practiced for months with their regular partner. How they are able to do this is beyond my comprehension. They are all so talented and creative, and perhaps the thing I find most remarkable is how well they do stay so well connected with each other and the changing feel of the music. And the ability of the women followers to somehow react so quickly to whatever the guy is coming up with is beyond remarkable, especially given all the variety of moves and feels that we see here. Wow - exteremly well done!
All right, I hereby dub this the year of the badass follows (and responsive leads!). Seriously, I think this year more than any the follows really kicked up their game a notch, coming up with some awesome ideas and not being afraid to throw them down. Rhythm, personality, and creative game on point across the board!
40 minutes well spent, loved it and how responsive to each other the Draw format must require, really cool. There is a dance club near me that focused on Lindy Hop and I started going as a rank amateur before covid, but dropped it but my new GF is now in a class learning it. Definitely yet another activity we have in common.
Glad you enjoyed the dancing! This is an unedited live stream from the event in 2019. You can use the time codes in video description to skip ahead to the dancing. Thanks!
