I think one of the most impressive things is how fast he progressed with his English. The dude is tri-lingual. And in completely unique languages. One language(Georgian) is a semitic language. The other(Spanish) is a Latin language. And the third(English) is a mixture of Latin and Germanic. And he's a world class MMA Fighter. Just incredible.

Only a few of us knew he would win easily. It seems to me that the MMA community only really likes shittalkers when they are anglo (american, british, irish, australian...) but they tend to underestimate foreign speaking fighters. Which makes no sense because you could see that Ilia is not the typical fighter, he's here to make history.

The fact that this guy has taken a head kick to the head , but recovered and was able to get ko in a later round is crazy, he has that dawg in him.

I was Volk, all the way, all fight week, even day of. First round, I saw just how relaxed Topuria was. About 30 seconds into the 2nd round, I looked at my buddy I was watching with, and I said, "Bro, I hate to say this... but I just had a vision of Volk getting KO'd. I think Ilia is gonna put him out." 2 minutes late, Volk was asleep. Absolutely heartbreaking. But props to the new champ. "The King is dead. Long Live the King." 💔

Won me over at the face off when he told Volk “ I respect you as a fighter and I just trying to make my dreams come true “ he played the game of trash talk pumped it up and won. Congrats as a Spanish/Mexican American myself I feel he represents well.

Been a fan of Topuria for a long long time since he first started in the UFC. Huge fan of Volk as well and I was rooting for him in this fight. I thought after the first rd Volk would be able to survive the power, but Ilia stalked him till he found the kill shot 😮 This fight will go down in the history books for sure!!

He is better than Conor, better than Khabib. He's gonna flatline Makhachev just like Volk. There is no-one beating him anytime soon - he is just 27 - he is just now stepping into his Prime.

How can you not love a guy who is as confident as you can possibly be in oneself. He tells you exactly whats going to happen because of the sheer confidence in the abilities he has. Thats the exact same reason Conor McGregor became the biggest star in MMA history by a mile. Conor is a wild man whos laser focus he once had in MMA, went elsewhere, to the character he became when on the journey. Now Conor is always playing a character even on his yacht when the cameras show up. If Topuria can stay with the laser focus he could be the best ever. Hes a master in the standup imo. Probably the best on the feet right now in the UFC. The most dangerous guy and the most confident guy at the same time. Hes going to be so hard to beat.

After i watched his fight vs Josh, i knew he will be future champion. Just as he said he will put Volk the lights out, yes he did and he took V's head off. It was sooooo easy, if there were 3 Volk, he could beat them 3 in the roll. Totally different level !!!

Topuria is so fast and crisp, it's mind bending..That split second frame that set up the KO was picture perfect..I thought Volk would try and grapple to take some of the speed and power out of the equation. But that is easier to say than to do..I've rewatched Topuria fights over the last few years more than any other fighter in the UFC..The guy is technical and vicious..
