I did too. But back then you really had to glaringly win against the sitting champ to dethrone them. It was close but not enough. That is why everyone got upset with the Strickland/DDP fight. It was close and with history on Sean's side they went against him. And not giving him an immediate rematch only proves something shoddy is going on.

Then one day he went to the gym with a Ubs and told his coaches "I want to box like this Canelo Álvarez". What is interesting, Khabib dominated with wrestling and then ground and pound, his boxing was ok, still went undefeated. Ilia is more scary, because people are afraid of his boxing and power punch KO, buy you will see when fights get difficult, he will use his wrestling, and by the way, he wins in what his opponents does best (Volk by KO, Bryce Mitchel by submission).

I doubt Topuria is the hardest puncher max has ever fought. I doubt he hits harder than Geathje. Everybody at LW says Dustin hits the hardest they e ever faced. Gaethje landed clean shots and wobbled Max but he recovered quick. I think Max is the better more technical boxer and if Topuria can’t KO Holloway then Max is going to win. Volk was winning every second until he got caught. If Volk had Holloway chin he probably would have won that fight. Folks bran wasn’t recovered from the head kick so he was extra susceptible to KO.

Ilia Topuria needs to utilize his leg kicks more than Gaethje did and use his wrestling if he fights Max but for Max Holloway he needs to throw more jabs because Volk was able to pop Ilia’s head back with those jabs also Max needs to throw more of those oblique kicks, side kicks, fronts kicks he likes doing utilize that reach advantage he has on Topuria

The jab is what got volk ko if you watch Ilias fights he tries to time his opponents jabs to slip and counter or throw a combination. So he can use the jab but he needs to throw more feints with the jabs.

This is what happens when you fight Max. You abandon your foundation and you end up throwing hands and start boxing with him. Ortega,Justin are examples. The ones who stay to thier game plan wins ,like Volk. I can see Ilia letting his ego take over and try to box Max. Ilia has ko power but he is not a boxer. If he does this he'll lose because he won't out point Max. If he wrestles, attempt take downs and attack that lead leg he will get his shots in because Max will have to catch up and take risks.
