Jim died owing me allot of money for lyrics, he apologized to me at a song writer award ceremony where, I was being honored. still thought he was a great person.
I assume you are saying Jim Croce died owing you a lot of money? I searched all of his songs and any song that was not a cover only had credit given to Jim himself. Am I misunderstanding something?
I was a minor writing for the Raspberries, Jim was suppost to come to Cleveland, he didn't make it so he came to Pinellas Park Florida, where I lived, I was flown back and forth all summer to Cleveland. Eric Carmen convised me, that there was no way I could get all the songs published without giving them away. When Jim came to Florida after, I had returned to Florida to go back to school. Jim showed up looking for lyrics, I had 22 songs no music. I was hoping to get Jim to sign a agreement. My father injected him self in to our conversation. Told him just to take what he wanted. Jim grabbed the box the song were in and knocked me down. Couldn't get a lawyer my father didn't support me. Jim apologized at an award ceremony they gave to me. Jim published them as his own.
Only a few gave me credit, allot of dishonest performers. None put my name on any albums,. If they were interview my name would come up. In the 90 my name shows up at the award ceremony only. The Raspberries, doctor hook, Ricky Nelson, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, a few more mentioned my name in the 70s.
My total number of songs written from the 1965 to 76 was 14001 songs. 13383 we're given to the song writer association, not what I wanted. My father blamed me and my song writing for the reason mom divorce him, he came home and started burning boxes of songs, I called the song writer association, they a truck by the house and loaded 13383 songs no music just lyrics.
