Le Epic! Ryan, I am so stoked for you on this release! Working with you was such a great experience and I'm so glad I could create visuals to such awesome music. Im excited to see where the art might end up in the future!
Had a great time working on this project, and I too like the negative of my work. It’s sad that your drummer did all of that incredible transporting work only to have the footage lost. Humanity may not recover.
The bread rolls going moldy in an instant is comedy gold. Loved seeing the other options for album art. I look forward to seeing what those get used for down the line.
05:56 these are 100% real and raw ? Like no triggers/samples on kicks, toms, etc ? If so : Geez... They sound programmed, not as in "they sound like shitty programmed drums" (which would be bad), but as in "your drummer is a machine" in a Alex Rüdinger kind of way" (which is good)
He IS a machine. This is the real performance with some sample reinforcement on the kick and snare, recording by Paris at the location you see in the video. So the sound is 100% this kit. There will be a Tone Engineer episode showing his recording and sub-mixing process.
My biggest course correct in the future is to get off the grid for future collabs. I have more confidence in pushing and pulling the tempo now that I've been working with Ryan for so long. By the time you use drumatom (gating) and auto align (phase correction), it already sounds like a vst performance. Combine this with the timing of the tracks I got being tits on (Ryan's got a cyborg picking hand) and us not being live, AND my use of samples, I don't blame anyone for thinking it's phony.
Quick Question, did you sell your AX8 for a Kemper? asking since that was basically what most people (and I) found you through, If so, I can kinda relate to that, lots of gear I owned served their purposes and had to sell them due to me wanting to clear out space im my studio.
