Illegal migration to Germany has risen sharply in 2023, with a 33% increase in unauthorized entries compared to the previous year. The Federal Police is carrying out stationary controls at the borders, especially at the Polish, Czech and Swiss borders. These measures are having an effect, as the number of smuggling operations fell by 7% in the first half of 2024.
