The odometer sticker reminds me of the days before I had a garage and needed a permit to park on the street. I received dozens of tickets totalling thousands of dollars for failure to display a valid permit. When I went to court, the by-law officer testified at some length that he did indeed see the permit, and confirmed that it was valid, but that it was not displayed in the lower portion of the windshield on the driver's side, as clearly stipulated in the by-law and on the permit itself. When the judge asked why I did not display the permit as required, I explained that the motorcycle in question had neither a driver's side nor a windshield. After a deep sigh, he proceeded to lecture the officer on how he needed to use some common sense and consider that the letter of the law is not always aligned with the spirit of the law.
You're supposed to attach weights to the end, for, uh... keeping it from flapping in the wind of course. Only normie doofuses have it flapping around like crazy and getting in the way.
I think the quality of these videos is improving over time, for sure. But what really shines through, even more than the witty writing and natural delivery, is that you all are obviously enjoying what you're doing. And I enjoy consuming them.
The “quality” of the video is going up but the quality of the “story” has gone down drastically since covid, for most videos. Also they’ve all but abandoned the yearly gear videos I always relied on to make smart purchases
@@seskal8595 from Ryan? Bs!!! He always told us what gear was better and cheaper from the same brands new model, what gear had amazing quality for an amazing price because it had been made for so many years etc. I could not have possibly gotten the gear I needed without his insights. And he made those videos at least once a year usually “top weather jackets for 2021” and top high-end leather jackets for 2021 etc. etc. including best helmets of the year and all of that all of those videos had invaluable information that I continue to use and reference when buying gear that’s not even available on those videos anymore
6:28 My girlfriend and I are parking our bikes (hers a collector plated 91 Yamaha Radian 600, mine a FJ-09) on a BC Ferry and beside us is a tough looking biker dude on a big black Harley with black leather tassels on the grips. She looks at the tassels and says loudly "I love those! I had the same thing on my Strawberry Shortcake bike when I was 7!" I could barely keep a straight face.😁
@@rose6965 I don't think leather melts. It just burns under heat. Like you skin won't melt it burns. Part of the joke is that these "whips" are low quality plastic things
@@darkenblade986 I don't know what temp it melts at, but skin does melt! I've had an encounter withf very hot cooking oil that made the skin on the top end of my finger melt and droop down underneath the finger - it was not pleasant...
5:15 I once gave up obtaining motorcycle insurance from a major US provider because 0 was not considered a valid answer to the "how many doors does your vehicle have" question in the sign up form 🤦
Spent some time this afternoon swapping out my bar ends and replacing the mirrors, all the while expecting RF9 to bust into my garage to call me a “moto-modding pervert.” He was a no-show.
This is kinda fantastic. I’m getting the same vibe from this channel as I did watching motor-shows with my dad, growing up. It’s factual, to the point, informative, entertaining and really doesn’t try to sell my something. It feels like it’s just here because of the love of motorcycles and riding, and getting others equally hooked. Thanks!
Texas seems to be pretty chill on this stuff. I can run a sideways plate, no turn signals if I like, heck you can still plate a two stroke. And they seem to look the other way on a lot of mods as long as it works right. Like I've got 16,000 lumens of "off road only" lights as my headlights. But I have them tamed down in low beam mode to where I never get a flash from other drivers. Cops just seeing this set up would know it's illegal but they never bother me. Still can't lane split here though...
Ryan, you just made me laugh so hard so hard I was crying!! When you skipped around the parked truck hitting it with the whip, and were getting slapped in the helmet with it while riding 🤣🤣😂😂
Knowledgeable, entertaining, and as someone mentioned already in the comments "not trying to sell me something." Half the time I could care less what the topic is on your videos. I click on them for the random info I didn't know I needed and most importantly a good laugh. Keep it up man I appreciate what you do and how you do it.
Ryan, you are always guaranteed to make me laugh at least once during your videos. Keep up the great work and information and entertaining productions !
that autonomous braking line was absolutely hilarious!! that's gotta be the best laugh i've had this year.. thanks man, always quality giggles here.. =)
The reason why I love Ryan is cos he clearly mentions the downside of buying these products and still keeps it funny and real. I really want to change my odo but I'm scared that Ryan will break down my door with an M16 and scream "You Odometer Dodging Dick".
Regarding slungshots, I used to occasionally ride with Legion of Sin members. They're a CoC recognized two patch club in the San Francisco Bay Area that blends the Biker and BDSM lifestyles, so some of them rode with single tails (basically bullwhips) on their bikes, usually looped above the triple. Slung shots are a felony in California, and one rider that I know from LoS was arrested for it. The cop didn't believe that it was only going to be used on consenting adults. BTW, when used for genuine mayhem the heavy grip part is swung, much like a flail. It can break windows, mirrors, and bones when used that way.
I did luckily not enough to hit my keyboard. Just had to clean up desk, If he writes these himself, IMO he could replace SNL easily Wish I could give him more than 1 Thumbs Up
led turn signals. Put them on the grip ends in addition to shock towers. having multiples in different locations is easier to see than a single point and cleans up the airflow by not having a turn signal hanging out there.
That bar end mirror is the perfect thing for looking behind you when riding gravel roads standing up…while still having regular mirrors. Had more than a few close calls with pickup drivers who think they’re doing a Targa Newfoundland rally stage…
The Get Back whip, now that I know what it's intended for it is, improbably, MUCH more stupid than just a 3 foot cord dangling from your handlebar. OR YOUR BRAKE LEVER!!!
Your supposed to have washers on the dangly end and you break windows or mirrors with the whip. I agree it’s dumb to have and this video was funnier than shit 😂
I just watch your videos repeatedly because they are informative and when I run out of interesting things on RU-vid. Thank you for your creative content.
I couldn't see the charging thing holding up in court either. Hell, my Garmin Zumo technically charges in the supplied mount if I am using it while riding.
Honestly tiny mirrors and indicators right under the headlight and seven inches apart seem rightly illegal. Safety equipment being safety equipment isn't defined through the presence of equipment, but through its functionality.
Most stock mirrors are kind of shit, mine vibrate like all hell and are too small to see shit. You forget my bike was made as cheaply as possible, and a lot of accessories are assembled as cheaply as possible. Most people will be eventually replacing them with something they like/functions for them. I need bigger ones, they want smaller ones. If neither of us actually checks the day it matters, what's the difference between us?
My stock 1985 GSXR mirrors give me a great view of my elbows. They look awesome but don’t work at all. The clip on mirrors I replaced them with actually work.
The comments above matches really well with how little other bikers seen to care about indicators I am pretty confident that the BMW club uses indicators more than bikers, at least locally.
For me its not about the size of the mirror or the location of the lights, its about clearing my elbows for an unobstructed view with in that mirror and attracting attention to the Bike its self during all lighting conditions. Its a safety thing for mostly me and also others..
Love your videos man, can you please do a video testing abrasion resistance of different mesh jackets? I would really like to know how abrasion resistant Klim's Karbonite mesh is. The only information about Karbonite that I can find from Klim is that it's "750% stronger than polyester or nylon mesh". Stronger being such a vague word, it would be very helpful to see if that just means it has a higher tensile strength or if it provides any real benefits before spending $350 on it.
Amazing video as always, on a related note… I’d love to Ryan have a crack at what the Euro 5 restrictions mean around mods. I mean I know we all don’t modify our bikes by changing pipes, Decats, air filters etc…
I don't have a motorcycle and don't plan on getting one in the future, but your videos are incredibly informative and at times really hilarious. Keep it up.
Ok, my take on this video: I added blind spot mirrors under the OEM ones and use every ride; I added extra LED turn signals in addition to LED replacements on my Wife’s ‘09 Vstrom 650 so as to be seen better (for that Panama trip); Kawasaki didn’t anticipate anyone would ride their 2003 Voyager over 100K so my bike now has only 4K miles. I have a Ram mount for my phone (doesn’t have the charger feature) and it has been used all the way to the country of Panama without any sun issues (rain yes). Thanks for your reviews and educational videos. When Canada finally opens up for tourists from down under I hope to swing by the neighborhood.
