Psychedelic drugs have a long history in medicine and popular culture, and they’re now being researched as possible treatments for mental illnesses and other debilitating conditions. But are psychedelics ready to go from underground to mainstream medicine? And what lessons can we learn from the strict regulation of medicinal cannabis?

Pharmaceutical companies don’t want this treatment available due to the loss of $$$$ for them.

Oh my God I had ketamine almost 2 years ago for the first time, I told them I didn't care if I was dying to never give it to me again! I have never done drugs what that medication did to me I can't describe the horror that I felt I was crying I didn't know what else to do I've never experienced that kind of thing before I've never done drugs well except for smoking and occasional joint because I have multiple sclerosis and it does help, but never again with ketamine I had a perforated ulcer and they tried to give it to me for pain it was a nightmare. If it works for someone else go for it I'm so happy for you.

43:26 - 43:56 He says that the risks need to be considered before using these just like they do with other drugs, so for example SSRI's that have risks such as Suicidal thoughts, Self-harm, Seizures, Psychosis, Headache, Muscle pain and more, these risks have been measured over there 40 year use and they do work for some people but they also don't work for alot of people, I don't see why we cant have both and why you need more evidences then what the current SSRI's have given. I just don't see why we can't use them, even if there is a risk, there is a risk to just existing, life is a risk, I just think it should be a human right to use psychedelics, but I also think that they need to be taken seriously and need to be regulated correctly, they should be taken in a medical setting with professials around, but also I think you should be allowed to take it as you wish, just the same as you can drink an alcoholic beverage, you drink alcohol because it's fun, it's can be part of being a human, what wrong with just wanting to get drunk just the same as what's wrong with just wanting to get high, how is this affecting you and you can say yeah but people will get high or drunk all the time and ruin there lifes, then why do we just allow alcohol to get a pass, people ruin there lifes with that all the time, they runin it with eating to much food, how is this the drugs fault, if a child rides his bike and does a jump and falls off and breaks his leg, then that is the risk of riding the bike should we ban all bikes now or you just want them to be regulated where they wear helmets and always do what they're told. this isn't how life works, at least if drugs were all llegal you would know what you're buying, you wouldn't be funding the cartels of the world, you woudn't be filling prisons with addicts, you wouldn't be punishing addicts. We shouldn't criminalise people just for taking drugs, we should educate and not forbid.

Saying that you don’t know what you’re getting from the guy round the corner is like being suspicious that an onion seller could innocently sell you a horrible, sour onion, both wold make you feel rubbish but we take our chances in life 🙂
