The problem with blanket statements like that is that it ignores outlier cases that absolutely don't deserve that sort of treatment. Consider somebody who gets into a drunken brawl that ends up accidentally killing somebody. The offender is devastated and incredibly remorseful, but gets sentenced to 20 years. IMO that guy should absolutely be considered for parole after some amount of time. This is the stupid knee-jerk reaction that brought 3 strikes laws to CA and "zero tolerance" rules to schools

Good luck with that, the average time served for a “life sentence” in Comifornia is 7 years before release. After all prisons are over crowded. Tends to happen when we keep closing them and states outsource to private institutions for nearly triple the tax payer cost.

The parole board should be charged with accessory to murder, i’ve come back and add it on to this comment. The reason for that they prosecuted a nurse because she accidentally gave the wrong medication and killed a patient. They prosecuted parents because they were negligent and their child killed people. There is no difference this is an absolute Malfeasance, plus they lied that they received information that they should’ve acted upon. I believe this is worse because they had knowledge and then later tried to cover it up after the fact.

@@ericdwhitmorec Many of the appointees chosen by Pritzker had been in their positions far longer than the 60-session-day deadline required for state Senate lawmakers to take a confirmation vote. As a workaround, Pritzker would withdraw the review board appointments and then re-appoint the members to reset the countdown for the Senate to confirm, . That allowed some members to serve for months, and in some cases years, without coming before the state Senate for a vote.
