Smart, but extremely arrogant. Like, he might be able to calculate anything, but his "Nah. This little witch can't do anything to stop us" thought prevented him to use his beeg brain to seriously think of the situation. And so, he tried to foolishly threat her with their mightiest weapon, only for her to realize on how to beat them lol. Might be a bad writting, but there are a lot of these cases IRL too. Never underestimate others. You might be smart or powerful. But that doesn't mean others can't beat you.

It's stupid that she didn't do anything until after Reed is already dead, but at least she looks shocked. Cap marvel looks bored, a little frustrated at best. Being a battle hardened soldier does not also require the character to be an emotionless asshole who looks like she doesn't even care that much after 2 of her friends die extremely painful deaths.

Every time I see this scene I can't help but be amazed at the lack of ranged accuracy, teamwork, reaction speed, and basic combat copetance of the Illuminati members. Seriously, after Bolt dies only Reed even TRIES to go for a fast attack despite Captain Marvel being RIGHT THERE with far faster and more powerful ranged attacks, then during the like five seconds he's being SHREDDED APPART the two women do NOTHING BUT WATCH, then pause, share a look, and then ATTACK SEPERATLY. Gets worse when you realise Professor X could've just stuck his finger out and paralysed Wanda with a psychic attack the second she tries anything, giving Reed, Carter or Marvel more than enough time to punch her out so they can slap the magic blocker cuffs on her if they still wanna do things peacefully. Bit of an epic fail in teamwork right there. But then again, this is the bunch of wallies who apparently stood around with their fingers in their bums while their Strange worked and stressed his ass off to the point of Darkhold corruption trying to find TWO separate solutions to the Thanos problem.

Tbf, in the comics the Illuminati wasn’t formed as a combat team like The Avengers.. It was the council made up of the leaders of the big groups with great minds, responsible for making the hard decisions on what to do in dire situations… But yes, the Illuminati members in this particular movie was made up of great combatants, them having lack of teamwork and combat experience just makes no sense..

@@DiosaDelOscura does it matter? 616 wanda is dreamwalking into 838 wanda. it doesn't matter what happened to 616 wanda, 838 wanda is a completely different person who it seems did not have the darkhold. the darkhold's boost should not impact her power because this is 838 wanda's body and only 616 wanda's consciousness. if you argue she was using darkhold spells, it seems she has to actually read the darkhold to cast spells (since she couldn't dreamwalk when the darkhold was destroyed), and her eyes are closed when she dreamwalks, so that's not really plausible.

When you are in the middle of battle, you wouldn't have time to morn...that comes after. That being said, it looks like they didn't even flinch at their allies dying, maybe they were just too "on the job." Maybe a difference between the Illuminati and Avengers, the Avengers were far closer and cared about one another than just "getting the job done at any cost," which boosts them up to get the job done better ("we don't trade lives"), while the Illuminati "make the hard choices so no one else has to make," fully willing to sacrifice one of their own (this Universe's Dr. Strange). The Illuminati would have (very likely) sacrificed Vision in a heartbeat if it meant that Thanos will never be able to reach his goals, unlike the Avengers.

No. Despite Wanda still being a bit inexperienced, she knows how to handle Captain Marvel and especially Captain Carter. She was great friends with Steve Rogers so she obviously knows what a Vibranium Shield can do, she also knows that Captain Marvel absorbs attacks because the more Captain Marvel absorbs attacks, she can release that absorption to her enemies and use their own attacks against them including her own. If you noticed, Wanda never really attacked 838 Captain Marvel with her own powers. Wanda used objects to attack Captain Marvel and only blocks attacks from her. With Captain Carter on her first attack, Wanda threw Captain Carter's shield away from her so she has time to fight Captain Marvel. When Wanda takes care of Cap Marvel, she now focuses on Cap Carter. Basically, Wanda is too fast at thinking of strategies for the illuminati which results in all of them being killed.

Long story short, Black Bolt learns the hard way that words sometimes speak louder than actions, Mister Fantastic is lucky that Sue Storm is alive in his universe, Captain Marvel finds out she ain’t all that and becomes a more ‘grounded’ individual, Captain Carter finds out in the worst way possible that the best defense really is a good offense and Professor X learns that it isn’t worth sticking your neck out for some people.

When she killed them it was mostly goal oriented. I love the smallest look of contemplation on her face as she killed peggy. To me that was the smallest but of our wanda peeking through and gaining clarity. She was inside of Steve's mind, and knows how deeply in love he was with her and the pain he felt in losing her in so many ways. By the time civil war comes around he has lost peggy three times. In what he believed was his death, in the realization that his life with her could never be because she had lived without him for 75 years, and then her actual death. He experienced losing peggy so much just as she had experienced losing vision, albeit far less horrifically. For her to be the hand that ends the life of anothers love. Not justanyone's, but a good friend who freed her from prison. I believe it was proof that wanda is still there. That's not to say she can be redeemed of her choices, but it proves that the humanity inside of her is still, if only slightly, conflicted. All villains need humanity, and that moment when she killed peggy, was proof that Wanda wasnt all witch.

Eh, considering Peggy is also the one that Steve abandoned a grieving Wanda to be with (with no notification), I doubt Wanda feels that bad. I mean she had no problem killing a version of Strange, trying to kill Strange, attacking a teenager, and so many other crimes why would killing a version of Steve's obsession make her sad? Plus Steve was largely reason she was in prison in the first place, so he wasn't helping her out of the goodness of his heart but to make up for causing her to be put there in first place.

I assumed she saw Peggy as a proxy for Steve. Steve was her friend and probably the main thing that kept her good (perhaps along with Clint). Her reactions to Peggy suggest she was having trouble fighting her as she saw Cap there. Also, props to Hayley Atwell for really channeling Chris, right down to posture.

I watch pro wrestling and WWE does this shit too. They spent years burying WCW guys to scream "WE WON THE WAR" and it never came off as anything but pathetic. They cared a billion times more than the fans did and it made them seem really, really petty. This scene really is reminiscent of that kind of thought process among executives/creatives "We won. we should use this movie to make fans of those properties feel bad" It's funny because you'll hear two reactions to this scene, and especially the Professor X scene. MCU fans will get bitter and furious if you suggest that this scene wasn't awesome/Wanda isn't the strongest character in all of fiction, and then you have the fans of the fox properties who just kind of go "Alright then, not going to go to the next MCU film if this is how my childhood is going to be treated." One side cares a LOT more than the other and is willing to act smarmy and rude about it on social media, and the other side barely cares and is now, basically forever, signed off of the MCU as a whole because the literal first time the MCU writers had access to these characters they used them for shock horror. I like MCU films, but this scene is REALLY insanely bad for building an audience and not turning people off of your movies forever because you showed them what you think of their favorite characters.

Not all of them. Xavier, Black Bolt and Mordu were all the same guy. For all we know, Reed Richards was the same guy too. In the case of Peggy and Rambeaux, it was a single small change in the timeline that made them the hero and not the regular Cap and Captain. Capt Marvel and discount Capt. America got their training from old kung fu movies where the bad guys attack the hero one at a time rather than overwhelm him by going together. I mean, after she kills Black Bolt, Mr. Fantastic goes straight to the attack and they're like "huh, killed one of us with a thought, let's see how Reed does while we watch..." Even after she kills Reed they gotta exchange a look before getting to work "wow, did you see that?"

For that matter, where was Xavier during all this? Being able to temporarily neutralize Wanda would have been a little more helpful had the rest of the Illuminati been around to make use of it.
