Damn...those LS3 really sound clear! Voices from that speaker are incredible realistic.

Hi toni! Great review. As an iLoud micro monitor user, i'd like to share my 2 cents. The lack of mids issue you mentioned, i highly doubt it is related with your speakers placement. You'd better set them straight and put the twitter to your ear level and try your test tracks again. My MM has the hollow mids when i place them on desk in FLAT EQ, sounds good with DESK EQ with boosted mids and upper highs, similar to your measurement. Micro Monitors sounds best when i place them in mic stand and set twitter height to my ear level(FLAT EQ). very precise imaging and clearer bass. WIth titled stand, i thought the upper woofer of the MTM will have a hard time to catch the same phase with other two drivers, even with calibration.

35:54 when you switch to the Kef the vocal sounds human. The piano doesn't serve as a reference as people record them wrong. But that vocal sounded as if it were recorded against the wall in an untreated room until you switched to LS3. Even so I hear your room ambience.

I really like your review. I'm sorry to be a "little bit" late to the party, but I want to draw a small parallel between KEF and MTM. Pay attention to how much more defined and with more presence the sound is through MTM, especially in the song Volver Volver. It starts from 17:10 And it is mostly expressed by the "crowd with multiple instruments" from 18:00 Namely, the KEF has a good, wide but shallow stereo image, while the MTM, on the contrary, gives depth and is not cluttered only in width. At first glance KEF seem sweet and smooth to the ears, but that's because they are for Hi-Fi purpose. While MTM are Studio Monitors with clear definition and separation of vocals and instruments from each other. I apologize for my language barrier, but that doesn't mean that in addition to the MTMs I already have, I wouldn't like to have the KEFs too :)) Normally each for a different purpose. MTM for working in the Studio and KEF for checking the "work done" Greetings and great support to your RU-vid channel.

Brilliant review, doing exactly what speaker reviews ought to do - let you hear the speakers! If I'd only had LS3s to listen on, I would have mixed all those vocal tracks with the vocs 3db too low. The vocs sat exac right in the iLouds, though with less detail, perhaps as a result. I'd like maybe to EQ in the LS3s and balance in the iLouds. But if I had to have one, the iLouds win by a mile.

33:57 That Lana Del Rey track actually DOES sound honky. The mastering engineer didn't do a good job, IMO. ... The iLoud MTM just made it obvious for you. Many speakers have a slight, broad dip in that frequency area. Probably because it's a problematic frequency area recording-wise (due to common room resonances) and for the same reason: in many domestic listening rooms. Sometimes mixing and mastering engineers will dip that lower-mid frequency area, to improve translation, and overall make it sound less "tubby/hollow" and more "sleek".
@MrTRidoz
@MrTRidoz 5 лет назад
on LS3, female voices sound younger than on iloud this is obvious due to the junction of frequencies in the mid-frequency region, these old speakers show what and how to make the right sound

MTM has darker sound whereas your speaker has crystal clear voice and crisp sound. Soundstage is wider on MTM. Your speaker has a more forward punchy bass while the MTM has more depth of bass. Its a matter of preference and the music you play. MTM is good for loud and disco songs while yours is better on acoustics.

please excuse my english, after years and lot of improvement, it is still terrible, this is why i dont use googletranslate to write because i have problems to "focus" the spoken language. So i am sorry if you have already said this in your smart and useful rewiew, my QUESTION is: according to your parallelism with KEF LSX, this ILoud are to listen in beauty mode the music or to mixing sessions or... ? thank you anyway, also if you will dont see this question

Bro' Dinieghi no problem. The iLoud can be used for just listening to music or to mix on them. They’re not limited to just one purpose. Overall they sound better than the KEF in my opinion but they still aren’t flawless.

I think it would be more scientific to compare the speakers *without* room correction. (either that, or use the same room correction system for all the speakers). Thanks for the thorough review though.

Interesting I'm considering buying some studio monitors it's confused at the moment, I quite like these because I want to strip them apart and put them in my own cabinets running 2 8" drivers probably keep the tweeter having that room correction built in I like. Firstly I'd like to maybe build a bigger cabinet for these speakers how do they separate the front baffle separate to the box or one unit. I was thinking about genelec had no experience or these, I was going to buy some tannoy reveals 802 I quite like the idea of them I've got a biggish room 18 by 14 had an experience with them, eventually buy 4, and hang them in a special frame so the tweeters are opposing each other and about 20 degrees slope to each other. Any suggestions is good, and what I should look at I don't want to spend more than £800 on a pair. i Can get the tannoys reveals 802 for £600 a pair, not seen any comparisons like you've done.

Hey guys can someone recommend a set of monitors for around 700 euro (2 units)? I work mainly with rock/metal + subgenres and electronic (trance,synthwave,etc). I've been between MTM and Yamaha hs8. My room is around 20-25 square meters
@HR2635
@HR2635 Месяц назад
MTM.. you will need a subwoofer on HS8 to get the same amount of low end rumble that you need to know about. BUT the MTM do not play insanely loud. I take it that you know how to mix and dont turn monitors up over speaking level when doing serious mixing. So thats ok-

@BojanBojovic
@BojanBojovic 4 года назад
This comparison is not accurate, at least for us. To do this you will need an anechoic chamber. I idd not test iLouds but people say it is as good as ARC2 system so when calibrated they should give relatively flat frequency curve, maybe not at low frequencies but middle should be spot on because there is less phase problems. I like that hyped middle sound of your KEFs, but I believe you just used to how they sound. Your measures show they go only to 50hz, you mentioned 40hz but that frequency is over 20db lower.
