I love the story of The Monkees. Created to be a joke band on a TV show, but Mike and Davey are like "But what if we take this kinda seriously?" and they write two legit hits. Also fun facts: The Jimi Hendrix Experience first US tour was opening for The Monkees, the fit wasn't super great though(duh) so The Experience left the tour early. Also Mike Nesmith's mom is the famous secretary who invented White Out.

This cover is crazy to me in the sense that ever since I learned Neil Diamond wrote this song I always hear it and think "this just sounds like a Neil Diamond song". This is the first time in a while I've listened to this song and I didn't just imagine Neil Diamond singing it. This may very well be an achievement; I'll let history decide.
