Whenever I hear TKO, I just think about the beef between MTA. Back in the day you'd go to Vegas and see a bunch of MTA stuff up the 15 and on the way back TKO would've gone over it already, it was wild times! That and all of the War graffiti videos, those were dope

Im in a crew with some of my best friends. We are 6 in total, a small crew has been my best experience. We are all childhood friends and have been through hell and back together. I don't think snitching would be a problem. But then again you never know

I usually daylight bomb solo cuz in my city its easier to just blend in.. but ive always found for throws.. pieces and fill ins nothing beats 2 or 3 friends who are quick on there feet and love busting jokes... then again ive always made sure for me getting up is the most enjoyable process and rule uno is walk away smiling.. if you follow that one rule and always remember were adults acting like a toodler the first time he holds a crayon and steps to the living room wall itll never get to serious.. hope every one stays up and keeps it simple

Tko puts in so many people in their crew you don't even know who's truly tko. All I know is that MTA took over LA and now you barely see tko's presence.

TKO started here in LA, had some of the baddest writers at some point in the beginning too, Haeler, Pysa, Odds, and many more heavy hitters

Only reason im in a crew is because were all good close friends outside of graffiti and wanted a label for us. We stick together and have eachothers back. If anyone becomes a problem, they get the boot. I like being able to sort of have a team that someones fucking with if they try to rather than just the one guy. Like they should know the crew will be involved. But i agree that just joining a crew to be satisfied and have something to write and feel apart of something is stupid and probably wont end up lasting anyway. Thats my two cents.

Like i said in your post, ive only ever been in a "crew" as a sort of small online community of like minded friends and wed all share ideas and help each other develop our work (or at least try to). Otherwise I've never really gone looking to get in any crews for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. Risk/reward for joining one seems skewed towards high risk for low to no reward and being in one doesnt actually prove anything about my ability. Its kind of always seemed like a red herring to me cause i grew up in an area/time where gangs werent really a thing unless you knew the people already or you were one of the heavy hitters (mainly thinking of KGB and EK in Sydney cause imo those were the only crews around that were worth anything). I try to stick to the philosophy i always aim for: focus on what I'm doing/how i can improve and dont waste too much time criticising or comparing myself to others. Also i dont wanna get distracted trying to chase some label or clout that seemed like a cool idea when i was 13.

I was in a crew for a while but was the outsider, new kid on the block so to say not everyone liked me but I kept painting my way. A couple of the older heads were pissed off cuz I was putting up decent shit. Was threatened a few times and bounced out, not worth it I did a lot of work for them, a lot. A lot of work to get in. In the end I've been Independence since and much much happier like you said nothing more complicated than two dudes and a wall.

When i paint with my mentor he always tells me, paint your own name. Crews will split or fall if you’re not tight with eachother. Thats why i promised myself not to join more than 3 crews. Also the more crews i join the less value it has for me and i just probably tag them next to my name instead of really make crew pieces.

unless your straight up riding with your tightest homies and you make a crew out of that friend group, don't get involved in any. I've seen crews rise to the top and then completely fall apart within a year.

I'm from Denver, I've chilled with many TKO writer's and also beefed with TKO writers years ago when I wrote with TWC. Graffiti beef is mostly pointless childish drama. Never had a single personal issue with any of the TKO crew in Denver and chilled with many of them through the years but once you're on a crew and shit goes off it's on you too.

then u don't deserve to be put in the crew. if you're in a crew then you're supposed to take all the beef that comes with that crew. not putting the crew in your name means you aren't really repping them. i definitely agree with the idea of feeling like a pawn in these big crews and it just depends how your personality is.if you like going to war more or are more self motivated

I think you kind of missed the mark on this one. Round here we use it as a backup crew tag that you can slap up quickly showing you run with certain people if you’re out on a bomb or whatever. Not validation, just a sup to the boys basically? Hard to say but seems like you’re painting it in an overly negative light when it’s just a bit of fun

I always thought tlok was the founder or one of the them. It use to be mainly tag bangers from LA where it originated. After WAR2 or WAR3 they blew up and started spreading across the nation.
