this is the song Imagine Dragons x J.I.D - Enemy (from the series Arcane League of Legends) but without J.I.D, this is the version that plays on RU-vid Music.
The reason why so shocking is probably because people don't like the rap lol, they tried to go after a small target audience in comparison to the majority of listeners, most people who listen to this song like one side but not the other. For example I'm a fan of imagine dragons, and I have no fucking clue who jid is, all I got from his rap section is "generic pretentious Mumble rapper", while some fans of jid just see imagine dragons as Pop song pansies. The combination of these two genres can work together it just does not in this scenario
Definitely prefer this version of the song. the J.I.D. just abruptly comes in and kills the flow and the immersion in the other one. This one just fits better.
"He cannot be, she cannot be, they cannot be chaaaanged but keep on prayinnng, goodbye." THIS FITS THE SHOW SO WELL ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Silco cannot be changed, Jinx can't be changed, the corrupt council can't be changed.
Don’t get me wrong, J.I.D’s performance was stellar, but I personally enjoy this one a tad more as it’s supposed to have this gritty vibe, but the rapping sort of side tracks from what it’s supposed to be.
@@DumaVadamee109 Actually riot is just stupid and keeps thinking LOL and Rap blend well, but it doesn't a lot of the songs would be hundred times better without it
@@NoroGameplays Well I mean, The rap section in KDA's Pop stars and some of their other tracks are arguably the best part. I think it depends on the context of the song and the mood/tone its supposed to give off.
[Bridge] They say pray it away I swear, I'll never be a saint, no way A chair in the corner is the place I stay I shake and I think about the powers at play, the powers at play And the kids in the dark that were doomed from the start The child in the basement, face to the pavement *Oh, what a statement, love is embracement Love is a constant, love is a basis He cannot be, she cannot be, they cannot be changed But' keep on praying Goodbye * In a concert, Dan Reynolds explains that this talks about removing people in your life who don't actually love and support you
Look out for yourself I wake up to the sounds Of the silence that allows For my mind to run around With my ear up to the ground I'm searching to behold The stories that are told When my back is to the world That was smiling when I turned Tell you you're the greatest But once you turn they hate us Oh the misery Everybody wants to be my enemy Spare the sympathy Everybody wants to be My enemy-y-y-y-y Look out for yourself My enemy-y-y-y-y (look) (look) (look) (look) Look out for yourself But I'm ready Your words up on the wall As you're praying for my fall And the laughter in the halls And the names that I've been called I stack it in my mind And I'm waiting for the time When I show you what it's like To be words spit in a mic Tell you you're the greatest But once you turn they hate us (Huh) O-oh the misery Everybody wants to be my enemy Spare the sympathy Everybody wants to be My enemy-y-y-y-y (look) (look) (look) (look) Look out for yourself My enemy-y-y-y-y (look) (look) (look) (look) Look out for yourself They say, "pray it away" I swear that I'll never be a saint, no way A chair in the corner is my place I stay I shake, and I think about the powers at play, the powers at play And the kids in the dark that were doomed from the start The child from the basement, face to the pavement Oh, what a statement, love is embracement Love is a constant, love is the basis He cannot be, she cannot be, they cannot be changed But keep on praying Good bye.. Oh the misery Everybody wants to be my enemy Spare the sympathy Everybody wants to be My enemy O-oh the misery Everybody wants to be my enemy Spare the sympathy Everybody wants to be My enemy Pray it away, I swear I'll never be a saint, no way My enemy Pray it away, I swear I'll never be a saint Look out for yourself ((Credits to AZlyrics, Genius and Spotify))
@@SpectoRecto Literally has nothing to do with race. I just do not like J.I.D.'s rapping, and I don't think it fits with the song. You are looking for racism, when it's as simple as someone's preference in someone's singing. Like seriously, get a life lol.
@XVERETT BEATS JID is literally the only bad part of this song. one of the first things i did was search for a version without him/her. its insane just how much better this version is.
I think it would work if it was slower...he just rattles off a bunch of random shit which has nothing to do with the song. Might work for another song but not this one...it's like creating a masterpiece and calling some untalented piece of shit to come in and take a dump on your masterpiece. So sad that people made untalented rappers famous. IMO very few rappers have actual talent. Like maybe 8....ever.
I like both versions but this one fits enemy way way more especially "he can not be, she can not be" part which ends with good bye and slowly going back into the main chorus of the song hits so hard
i definitely like this version more than the rap version, J.I.D admittedly does a great job with that part but in my opinion it just sort of interrupts the song, completely changes the direction and messes with the flow, especially the end where the instrumental just sort of goes silent while the rap continues for some reason, this version doesn’t really have any of those issues since this is how imagine dragons intended the song to be, and the verse is pretty good on its own aswell.
The beat going away isn’t an issue.. it’s part of the song. It’s the climactic moment of the verse and personally, it cutting away to booming back along with the singing is stellar.
In my opinion I like this more not because I don't like the rap, but the lyrics match more with the arcane story, I recommend watching it, you don't need to play LoL to understand, it's a masterpiece. I cried and you get a different vibe when you listen after Arcane
I actually agree on that one, i prefer JID's version but this one is focused on the show, The she cannot be he cannot be they cannot be changed part is about Jinx, Silco and The council which is actually insane, On the other hand JID's verse is also awesome cuz if you would watch the music video he's talking about how he can relate to powder.
It's hard for this to even be an argument... Since JID's rap can't be understood. It's just a default win for this version since the other one is incomprehensible without looking up the lyrics online I saw some comments saying that JID's lyrics fit better, well maybe it can be an argument if we could actually understand what he's singing lol
nah i prefer this version but the other version is better imo cause jid has literally dropped some of the best albums and even released the aoty last year so thanks to enemy, he is getting more exposure
"They say pray it away I swear, that I never be a saint, no way A chair in the corner is my place I stay I shake and I think about the powers at play, the powers at play And the kids in the dark that were doomed from the start The child in the basement, face to the pavement *Oh, what a statement, love is embracement Love is a constant, love is a basis He cannot be, she cannot be, they cannot be changed But' keep on praying ..."
When I listen to this song, I listen twice. Both versions are great and this song is amazing. I listened to this song about 100 times in just 4 days. That’s ridiculous
Because this version was only on RU-vid music, which I'm pretty sure was a mistake by whoever uploaded it and they just chose the wrong version. The JID version is the one available on pretty much all streaming services, and the one used for the Arcane animation on the League/Imagine Dragons channel. It's a really obscure version of the song, so a lot of people don't know it even exists.
The rap in this version fits better with arcane. Such as "the powers at play" line and talking about how love is a basses. Jus like how powder thinks about relationships. Also in the rap we hear about how some people had a rough child hood.
omg i looove this version. i really like both!! i heard this one first, then sort of didn't find it on tidal (spotify alternative). thought i had just imagined (dragon'd) the whole thing until i finally thought of searching on youtube! i am a happy human today for this. thanks for uploading!!

I first found this version when a radio station in my country (Traxx FM if you live in Malaysia) play this particular version. I was like, "Where is the rap?". Took me a while for some quick search, but this is the Solo Mix version.
I been lookin for this version forever thx. Idk why they left that verse on the other version they know they shoulda told ol boy to rewrite that verse🤦🏽♂️
To me the rap part is fine at first but the ending part just gets really awkward and doesn’t fit. The rest of it works but once the music kinda cuts out and it sounds like the same thing being repeated over and over it just sounds… wrong? Ig
(Typed this all out!) I wake up to the sounds of the silence that allows, For my mind to run around, With my ear up to the ground, I'm searching to behold the stories that are told. When my back is to the world, There was smiling when I turned, Tell you you're the greatest, But once you turn they hate us, Oh, the misery! Everybody wants to be my enemy! Spare the sympathy... Everybody wants to be... (My enemy!) My Enemy But I'm ready :) Your words up on the wall as you're praying for my fall, And the laughter in the halls and the names that i've been called, I stack it in my mind and i'm waiting for the time, To show you what it's like to be word's spit in a mic! Tell you you're the greatest, But once you turn they hate us, Oh, the misery! Everybody wants to be my enemy! Spare the sympathy... Everybody wants to be... (My enemy!) My Enemy They say pray it away, I swear that i'll never be a saint, no way, A chair in the corner is my place I stay, I shake and I think about the powers at play, the powers at play, And the kids in the dark that were doomed from the start, The child in the basement, face to the pavement, Oh what a statement, love is embracement. Love is a constant, love is a basis! He cannot be, she cannot be, they cannot be changed... But keep on praying, Goodbye... Oh, the misery! Everybody wants to be my enemy! Spare the sympathy... Everybody wants to be... (My enemy!) Oh, the misery! Everybody wants to be my enemy! Spare the sympathy... Everybody wants to be... (My enemy!) Pray it away, I swear I'll never be a saint, no way My enemy Pray it away, I swear I'll never be a saint (Look out for yourself) The end! Tell me if I made any mistakes! :D Also ty for this amazing video now I know how to listen to this amazing song lol
I FOUND IT. PERFECTION. No stupid trash rap segment. Such garbage. All he does is talk real fast. It's like eminem but his lyrics are just random shit so that it rhymes. At least with eminem he makes them clever and they really blow you away but this guy just rattles off random stupid shit that makes no sense. Imagine Dragons should have just done this on their own..they have actual talent.
I like how people be complaining about the JID rap yet this dude is still fucking rapping. People be thinking backwards bro. I for one enjoy both versions.

Kinda disappointed that the J.I.D version shows up way more. I like this one way more, and it seems like its almost impossible to find this one on Spotify and stuff. I'd be fine if these two versions are advertised equally, but I hate never seeing my favorite version anymore.
This version is so, so so much better! I'll never understand why nowadays everyone thinks it's necessary to cram a couple verses of low quality rap in anything they release.
jids rap definitely wasnt low quality, it was filled with double entendres and while it may have not suited the song as well, it was definitely an amazing verse on its own
My problem with the rap was it took me out of the rhythm. Which, ya know, is a thing when you are dancing around your workshop. If you're sitting still the rap portion is fun.
I was looking for this version. I agree with most I think the J.I.D version feels forced almost determined to add him no matter at what cost. Though I'm sure he is a Great Artist
