After recently experiencing major mentally traumatic events I’ve found myself regressing back to when I was in middle school, same mannerisms, interests, behavior, its similar but now I’m an adult. It’s kind of comforting in a way, because I can close my eyes and think back to when I first got hurt and smile at that young innocent child that would go through so much shit. This song makes me feel like I can go back in time and give a hug to my younger self bc that’s all they needed, and still need. I always used to say “I’m not the same person” “I’ve changed so much” but in reality I’m still the same as I was, I just hide and protect myself better now. Nothing can really hurt me anymore. Deep down I’m still that kid. My skin turned into armor but the inside still remains the same, a child who wants to be loved and protected. A child who craves affection and acceptance for who they are. A child who is listened to and not ridiculed for everything they do or enjoy.

The song that helped prevent my suicide. This song just helped me so much in turning my depression and pain around, just listening to it now almost 6 years ago still puts me to tears. I can't explain it, this song just motivated me so much to push through until I made it out of the tunnel. Edit: Wow! Thanks for all the support everyone! this song reminds me of the happiest day of my life. when I was in elementary school, we had a talent show every year. there was one in particular that stood out to me for two reasons. the first was that I sang and had the time of my life. but the second, was there was this girl who sang this song. I got everyone to sing along with her, cheering and dancing. as little as I was, it felt so good to have impacted such a huge crowd of people just by me singing on my own along with the girl. I remember that everyone got quiet for the girl who was singing during the bridge, and she really stood out too. it was such a happy moment for me and I'll never forget it.

This song reminds me of the person I used to be when I was younger... I used to be bullied and those moments haunted and influenced me for years. Days were becoming darker and darker, I wasted so many moments and ruined them by hating myself. It took me years to do it, but when I grew up (now I'm 18) I learnt how to love myself, how to love life and people around me... Now I have less insecurities, I don't blame myself anymore but my stubborn and sensitive personality is the same as 18 years ago. I remember listening to this song years ago when I was in a very dark place. I was depressed and suicidal. I cried and cried, wishing I could feel the hopefulness that this song has, feeling like things would never get better. They did get better. Life hasn't always been easy, but it did get so much better. I'm well on my way to creating a great life for myself. I'm successful and happy. Never could have imagined being where I am now. Things do get better, even if you can't see a future for yourself now, I promise you it's there. But you're the only one who can make it a reality.

This song has helped me with accepting who I am with having high functioning autism whenever I would get bullied in middle or high school... I remember high school fondly because this song helped me through those tough times of feeling different than others, but I have so many people who have supported me as well through that. This song reminds me of my childhood, when I was so passionate about listening to songs on the radio that I listened to it all day. Even back then, without knowing the meaning of this song, I always loved listening to it, it gave me such a happy vibe. Now, when I listen, it really gives me the feeling of the lyrics "I am just the same as I was". I am so happy to be who I am. I hope everyone feels that feeling too, however difficult it may seem.

imo i like this better because: •that’s pretty long and typically titles work best if they’re 1-3 words •it would sort of take away from that line in the chorus because it spoils it i guess, i think it’s better to hear the most powerful line in a song than see it in a title first just my opinion though :)
