I am 17, I was diagnosed with AS at 15, and I struggle daily with these ailments. My older brother also has AS. I'm glad that someone is trying to help bring awareness to this disease.
Recently diagnosed here and I'm managing it so much better through diet as well as meds! It's restrictive but asit works. Basically terry wahls protocol. Good luck

I wish the show had given more info to folks about what to look out for and how serious it is. I'm glad they even mentioned it but from what this clip shows it makes light of the disease. I've never seen the whole interview so i may be off base. I have this disease and it has turned my life inside out. I'm having to replan everything. The pain is excruciating. On a McGill medical pain scale of 50 arthritis is a 18, chronic back pain is 27, Ankylosing spondylitis is 32, childbirth is a 40. Kidney stones is a 42, Trigeminal Nueralgia is a 44 and above that is RSD
I went untreated for like nearly 7 years because my back pain was always dismissed as just the result of having g cup breasts. It wasn’t until I developed uveitis that just wouldn’t go away that I was finally taken seriously. Diagnosed at the age of 20. Actually on January 15th 2022 so less than 3 months ago. I’ll be 21 on april 10th so in like 8 days and my life is hell. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning. It’s hard to do simple things at the pace people expect me to. It’s hard to function in normal society when you have this because it literally only gets worse with age
@@AdityaGupta-xq3kr I know that🙄 and I eat healthy but regardless I have breasts so big they hang down to my belly button and diet and exercise CANNOT change the size of my breasts. I’ve already lost 50 pounds and yet my boobs are still the exact same size they were before I lost the weight. My rheumatologist told me that a major factor in my AS pain is the weight from my boobs which can only be changed by a reduction. I can’t afford a 6k-12k dollar surgery. My insurance wants me to go to pt but that’s 210 dollars a week which again I can’t afford. I’m actively seeking a medical marijuana card for the pain though
unfortunately you can't get healed from it. you can pause the progression using a lot of different methods. some people manage it with just the diet or just the NSAIDs, but others (like me) have to use a biologic. It's really dependent on each body which is probably why he's not going to recommend anything other than talking to your doctor. We caught mine as early as they'd like to, and I still have to take an NSAID every day and inject humira every 14 days. treatment is so unique to each person that there's no point saying what will work for people or wont.
