Iman Discusses the Racism She's Faced Throughout Her Career 

I have met her because she is an old classmate of my mother and we were neighbors in Somalia. She is an extremely nice person.

🤔🤔Africans visit the UK and North America for one month and come back to their countries having adapted the English accents from those countries. Kudos to Iman who has lived out there for eternity and never lost her Somali accent and still commands respect and the world’s attention. In the early 1980s, l was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The racism in the gift shop was very evident to me when person after person was greeted and asked if they needed assistance, and there was Iman, the entire time, with Not one salesperson ever greeting her or asking if she needed assistance as she had been looking into display cases. I was upset, and waved a saleslady over to me. She said "Hello, how may l be of help? I asked her if she knew who Iman was. Her reply, " Oh, my gosh, she's one of my most favorite persons!" I then said she was there, and that while so many people had been approached, Iman had been in the gift shop for going on 20 minutes, without a Hello! She asked me ,"Where is she, l'll go now! Yes, please do l replied. And then l pointed her out to the lady. As she was going across to where Iman was, she turned to me and silently mouthed, Thank you so much! I waved her on, go, go, l mouthed. It's so Disgusting to me when any person is not treated equally as others, but l will Always say something if it's not right, and something positive can be done in that moment to Correct this Wrong. And lman is more beautiful in person than in photos, a natural Radiance was about her! It was a thrill just to see her from across the shop.

Everything about Iman just screams “REGAL” if I had no clue who she was and had just stumbled upon her I would have assumed she was literal royalty (I mean to us she is royalty). A divine and beautiful soul personified, inside and out.

Iman was the first black model i ever saw and in a 'Tia Maria' advertisement. I adore her, she was and still is the most beautiful model in the world to me. Had i had a daughter and a don i would have named her 'Iman'. Evey time i hear the name 'Iman' i think of Iman the super model the most beautiful and elegant. And at the top of that long neck sat the most gorgeous face you ever saw, just takes your breath!!
