To be totally honest,I think pretty much all the criticism of jinx’s content back in the day was valid. The truth of the matter is that he objectively didn’t post transformative content. If you enjoyed the content that he’d post then that’s totally fine,but I can see why other creators (especially ones he reacted to) wouldn’t be a fan of it

Even back in the day before the big reaction backlash I never really enjoyed Jinx vids. I remember if I couldn't find a song online I would download his video of it as audio because he usually never said anything during the music 💀

It’s crazy how Jinx along with many other reactors at the time were the true reason I started finding out everyone from RDC, Dontai (from Tyrone Magnus’s roast), Berleezy and countless others. Legit is a domino effect but in a good way. Gotta honestly thank them for putting us on to other channels, discovering them, etc. Gotta also thank Dontai too. He also helped out finding out other channels.

This is my first time ever hearing about Jinx (mainly because back in 2015-2016 I wasn’t watching many Black RU-vidrs), but I honestly feel like he was definitely blacklisted on RU-vid for no reason. And I honestly believe had he ignored the hate and not switch up his content, he’d be way bigger today.

dontai you can have this niggas back but lets be honest the type of reactions this dude would make vs the type of reaction videos that are present now are vastly different and it's the difference between what is in the line of being copyright struck and what is fair use. sure he might have started or at the very least popularized the reaction format that exists today but that doesn't mean that his shit was good or would be considered fair use or even that he transformed the original content enough to not be copyright struck.

A good reaction channel will provide commentary, some opinions, indication that they’re taking in the content, active reviews, etc. Being genuine doesn’t mean being stiff and providing nothing. That is why certain reactors were/are praised while others weren’t. Jinx was not a good reaction channel, plain and simple. He just mostly sat there, and asked for views/subs/etc.

I don't think dontai is getting it. The problem wasn't reaction videos. The problem was jinx not contributing anything to the videos

I used to love gradeaundera, he kinda reminds me a little of Joe bartolozzi and I just like how they care so much about insignificant problems.

I think the main point is that they didn't add much or not enough to the vids back in the day. Pewdiepie's reactions now actually adds something, Dontai's reactions have always added something that is the difference between now and back in the day. But it was just the early days of reactions so it makes sense that reactions weren't as good or didn't add as much back then.

I think the thing is for me and other people who watch JINX growing up is we enjoy the company of watching a video together and occasionally hearing there thoughts. Yes not every reaction video he made does he have crazy reactions but in a sense that is more realistic. When a video isn’t to a person’s taste i feel like it’s only natural to have less of a reaction compare to what you’re really interested in. It’s a pain to see him not realize this, and spiral down a hole of losing his identity.

what sets apart reactors like dontai from reactors like jinx is that what people were criticizing was that he didn't really "react" he just watched the video. Now I didn't watch jinx, but from what it seemed at the time, that was the case. Maybe he did react and say things in certain videos and just not those ones. I think reactors now are doing it better than before. Not all of them. I mean you have the reactors that go on stream and just say nothing of value, never pause, and basically go to sleep or lala land while watching 20 videos in a row before ending stream. But then there are the good reactors that actually say things of value and pause and go on long monologues about shit. This isn't a plug (and I wont link anything), but I also react and even though I am just starting out I feel as though I put more effort into my reactions than most in my specific react niche. I don't overreact, but I also don't say nothing. In fact just like how I am rambling in this comment, I do that in reactions too. Talking about tons of stuff. Of course, relating to what I just watched. I even add a bit of editing to spice it up a lil. The thing is... most do not do this. I respect the ones that can actually bring value to the og vid. Who actually put effort and care into the reactions they make. cuz there are deff a lot that still just sit there and say absolutely nothing and get views for it. don't know why man. I usually click off quick if they start the video and then depending on the length, they get to about 15% of the video or so and have said nothing. so ye. some reactors are good, but that is proib why jinx lost viewers long term. cuz his videos were just not that good.
