2021,here at VENDA, i love this group, their music is so unique"omkhomba nge nganono, onkhomba nge sibam", 🤣🤣🤣🤷♂️ i dont know if i wrote the right spelling for Zulu words, but guys im not a Zulu person, ndi Muvenda so forgive me for spelling error
Never mind the grammar, Vho-Muravha, what you have written is clearly understandable. I wonder how many Zulu-speakers can spell Venda words. I am one of the lucky ones because half my blood in Venda.
@@muravhaliam1183 That is very true. My experience is that the Vha-Venda people learn other African languages much easier than, say, the Zulu people learn Venda or Tsonga. Generally, the sounds "vh", "pf", and "fh" are among the most difficult among people whose first language is not Venda. I have given up trying to teach my better-half how to pronounce "Muvhango" correctly, although she watches every episode.
Please allow me to clarify for the sake of non-Zulu speakers. The lyrics chastise the gun-toting miscreant. They are telling him that every fool feels powerful when he (and I mean HE -- ladies are not prone to this nonsense) has a gun in hand against unarmed people. On a different note: the bassline in this track is at the most sublime level.
Such a good track! Makes me sad as a young Afrikaans guy that my people were/are not more open in this country. We should be making music together.. we should be taught the languages in school. No one can listen to this and honestly say it doesn't make them want to move. As a white boy I never heard this music until Apartheid ended and until the internet happened.
There are a lot of us that feel this way. It will take time but things are changing. A lot of young people are travelling and finding out that they are African above all else. The continent and its people shaped us over generations. Some people may hang on to the identities of their forefathers but many of us realize that we are no longer Europeans, we don't fit in there. But as I said, we need to be taught African languages at a young age so that we may be better immersed in the land that we call home. The sins of our ancestors lay heavily on our shoulders and denial is the easiest way to deal with pain, this is why so many of us remain clueless. I am so deep into this maskanda wormhole right now, I have been listening for weeks!
As much as your ancestors sin still heavily on you is bc Y'all enjoying the benefits & you will never give it up!!! so please lets us enjoy our music in peace.

Very hot music indeed, Ms Dube. I wish the founder of Imithente, Mr Mthalane, was still with us. He was such a talented lyricist, guitarist, and composer.
