@@Shark-fj2sz "person makes the most straight forward video about what they experienced" RU-vid commenters: "wow what great journalism" Meanwhile actual real journalism gets brushed aside as MSM propaganda
@@bluebell1yeah it’s bad either way. But a bad product might help the ceo keep his job instead of no product. Investors usually don’t know shit about the tech they’re investing in
This product always was a hoax. They tried to fake it till you make it, but it’s to difficult to make it. Honestly, if this would be a realistic thing to produce, Apple or Meta would already be doing it
Everyone is rushing announcements in anticipation for Meta’s announcements next week. Vive, Snap & Visor all announced stuff that’s not ready this week
Great unbiased reporting, as a marketer, it’s exactly as I expected - they over promised and tried to build up the hype and pre order sales, but the truth is the fundamental technology for achieving that form factor is not there yet. It literally looks like packaged quest 3 trying to make it smaller but it really didnt work
GREAT review , I was a founder buyer, asked Renji about 6m ago about release date and got blocked, since then I have seen multiple red flags , using the glasses mock ups to market right up to launch when it's clearly not possibly, and now this non-demo demo is the biggest . They are playing off " I WANT it to work " emotion of the users. 😢
@@johnlukins3809 That's absolute BS, the demo is nonsense is just 2D running 1 panel in one lenses, that's not a demo at all, let me guess you work in Visor?
Good video, as usual. While I didn't make the trip to Austin, I was on the live feed. It was truly a letdown. I"m a very happy Immersed user on my Q3 and had high hopes for the Visor. I'm still hopeful that it comes as described. But I'm glad I didn't pre-order. Thanks for what you do. As a new VR fan and user, at age 63, I've learned quite a bit from your videos.
It’s telling that they are comfortable with using the “lure people in” phrasing thinking it isn’t a sussy AF bait and switch instead just some misunderstood reasoning by the uninitiated that need to be explained as if to a child.
thank you for your fair, honest and professional coverage of this event, despite the experience being extremely disappointing your response is wonderfully level headed, thoughtful, thorough and well put. i've subbed to stay in the loop with any information you may uncover and i'm sure you have and look forward to seeing you in some great reports in the meanwhile.
I just noticed that in the company videos that most users are looking up slightly while wearing the Visor. Now we know why. LOL. To keep it from falling off. Thanks Tetiana. Not holding my breath now waiting for this. It reminds me EXACTLY of the Sony HMZ-T1. It was front heavy nightmare that felt like a torture device when you wear it. Although the hmz-t1 was much heavier, it looks like it wears identical as the visor.
I think companies like Xreal are doing a much better job. Seeing the red marks on your face, it almost feels like wearing a VR headset but without the comfort. At least you were able to turn your wasted time into something productive by making a video about the product. In that way, what was a personal disappointment became valuable information for your followers. Well done!
Tetiana, this was such an amazing video, well aligned with exactly how I felt about the whole event even when I was watching it virtually. Thank you for your professionalism and honestly about your own experience. We need more people like you in XR, great work and I am also rooting for Immersed to show a functional demo in the near future, but this event really gave me a bad impression about them as a company.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! I always maintain an optimistic view and am always willing to give a benefit of a doubt, especially given a good track record with the app. Time will tell🤞
Thank you for being an independent journalist, presenting your experience in a neutral and fair way. Huge respect. I will say, in their favour though, that the given price for micro OLED, pancake lenses, and 4k resolution per eye is good! Although 102 degree field of view is a little disappointing when people want 120 FOV.
This, on top of them blocking people on social media and deleting criticism on their subreddit, makes it abundantly clear to me how this is a company that had the best of intentions but has an ego problem. They can't be told they're wrong, they refuse to be realistic about expectations, and they are overly ambitious to the point of underdelivering on everything thus far. You wanna root for the little guy and more competition, but Immersed has sadly made it abundantly clear that they aren't the ones to do it.
Exactly! And one more red flag: them constantly changing their business models. They started as a subscription app (fine by me, I was even a paying customer), then veering off towards crypto grifting with virtual real-estate and then, when this did not work out, going into the hardware business and neglecting the app itself. Oh, and one more thing: their idiotic decision to force the users to physically unplug any additional monitors from their PCs. They could've simply limited the app to just use one monitor, but, according to Renji, that would be very difficult to implement. If _that_ is difficult for them, why should people trust their hundreds of dollars with such a company?
@@sonicsnake44 it gets better, when people complained that they didn't like unplugging their monitors on the subreddit they got banned because the company was trying to IPO and didn't want investors knowning customers were upset. The IPO didn't end up happening 🤦
I have xr glasses and they weigh around 90grams. Even those feel a little too heavy sometimes. I think they would have done everyone a favor just making this a super light headset with a decent headstrap. It would be exactly what im looking for with oled and 4k per eye
Thank you for this video. While I also hope Visor will one day reached its desired potential, there are too many red flags to ignore at the present time. I have put in a request to cancel my Founder’s Edition preorder as I only did that so that I could hopefully get the product sometime this year. I don’t think Visor is anywhere close to release, and that preorder money could be better used in other areas of my life. I bought a product. I never intended to invest in a Kickstarter. I hope now that they abide by the conditions of the preorder and provide a full refund.
Over promising and under delivering is all too common in the XR industry. This isn't helpful at all. The only silver lining (sort of) about that is, the general public mostly doesn't know about the over promising. But this needs to stop. Regardless if it's Meta showing fake legs a couple years ago, PiMax making a incomplete product every year and moving on, or this (Immersed Visor), this is hurting the industry and makes it hard to take XR seriously.
Very fair review. I didn't have seen the keynote but from what you describe that critics are very fair. You don't go to a keynote and then you don't see a working product. And even if it was a mistake at the last moment, that they also pretty much laid about the form factor didn't help to build up trust. I would say if all was right and they only messed up the prototype to show it, the critics would be much smaller. But so you can't tell if on the visual/software side is not another let down waiting. They need to make a clear statement.
They've been notorious for banning anyone who asks hard questions in their subreddit or discord if the question makes the product look bad to other potential customers.
Thank you for the honest review. I pre-ordered and after seeing this fiasco share your views. You hit the nail on the head and I do not think anybody could have expressed it any better.
Thanks for this excellent and kind shocking report. I almost pre-ordered yesterday before the keynote, but held off because something about the build up to the event had made me suspicious. It just seemed like a lot of talk. And then the keynote confirmed my worst fears. More talk, no demo. But learning that even you never saw a full demo having attended in person, is shocking. And the deception in the marketing is extremely disappointing. Nothing will make me invest in this company now.
Thank you for an honest appraisal. I am waiting to watch several production unit reviews before I order and it looks certain that this will happen after October 1st and hence price increase. I feel you hit the nail(s) on the head here with the cloudyness of any real world demonstrations of features. Good reporting....a fresh change to many channels. Thank you.
Thank you thank you. I was really looking forward to Visor reveal to the point I've put off buying another pair of XR glasses for over a month. The reveal was such a disappointment and makes it look like complete vapourware. I appreciate your honesty and excellent journalism, asking all the questions I wanted the answer to. Will be keeping an eye out for your updates. Phillip.
They should have gone more the AR glasses route with better panels. It is something that would have required a lot less tech and be something they could deliver on and be something that could be smaller and look like what they originally presented. Trying to be a VR headset that has all the tech that companies like Meta and Apple worked years on and be smaller isn't possible. If it was possible, it would have been done by one of these companies already. We all know how much Apple didn't want their headset as big as it end up being.
I would like simple answers, such as how much RAM and storage space the VISOR has. That at least should be something they can communicate even without a unit with working firmware. Most other stats we now know (resolution, weight, processor etc), the headset while bigger than initial marketing still looks like a good VR headset design (if the head strap is used at least). But what needs to be revealed before people should be expected to order this thing are simple answers, like how much storage do I get for (theoretical upcoming theatre mode). Great video though. Thank you for seeking answers.
We were all misled. Period. A lot of hipe for nothing. I was going to purchase one because of the form factor, but it is evident that it is a traditional vr headset disguised as glasses. While I use immersed and I enjoy the software, I think they pulled the wool over our eyes; it is hard for me to trust their word after the demo and how they lead us on. Finally, they should have weighted the headset with the stems on. That is how they promoted it for months, and that is what I expected to see. It is better to under promise and over deliver. I appreciate your optimism, though. You are a great journalist. Obejective and fair.
If it was a traditional headset it would've been excellent at that price with those lenses and it would be the standard for PCVR. Cheap MicroOLED with wireless PCVR? Seems like a dream for now that won't come true. This product is an obvious scam. Feels very similar to the scam Arpara pulled with the Arpara 5K and All-in-One a few years ago.
It was a great review with detailed insights and sound criticism. I’ve also subscribed to the Founder's Edition, and I have high expectations for Visor. While there are some differences between the marketing and the actual product, I personally find them somewhat understandable, and there’s no doubt it’s an innovative product. In an interview with Rejin, the CEO, conducted by a Japanese blogger, he mentioned that they plan to do a demo in Japan in December. I expect they’ll showcase something fully functional at that time. Based on this, I think the shipping will be around the end of 2024 or early 2025 at the earliest. If there are any delays, I hope Immersed will announce them promptly.
LOL they are deleting discord comments and banning people who ordered the founders edition from voicing criticism. They also completely denied all new posts on their subreddit. It’s over for them.
Nice update. I always had a kickstarter vibes about them which would also mean that this could end up being a scam. People have pre-ordered these units just to be disappointed that there is no working demo of it. The amount of time these small startups and companies are going to spend to get this right and then not make profit out of it, Apple & Meta's of the world will be rolling out budget versions of these glasses what blends in to the ecosystem, has excellent support and years of engineering and reputation to back up.
Excellent video and thank you for this. I have been very skeptical about this device. Especially after a not so great interaction previously when reaching out about the multi monitor support loss. Very disappointing to see the actual product as compared to what was teased and offered for sale. Awesome journalism, hope you enjoyed Austin!
There were so many red flags and, for me, this “reveal/demo” was the final straw. They have behaved so unprofessionally throughout this entire process. They are talking about an IPO before they even have a working product!? Even if they are well-intentioned, they CLEARLY don’t possess the knowledge or drive to do what they are claiming to do. If I was in charge there, I’d fire most of the staff, but my guess is that the problem started at the top. MAYBE this headset will release, but it will be late and will be missing features which may or may not get delivered.
Fully agree with you. I put my money in for the headset since last year but the go of transparency is just ridiculous... They can show videos of it being demoed or they can show screenshots of this software or they can show what the theater mode is or explain the app center or the curator... All renji said is that they will expand more in the upcoming weeks... These had to be discussed during the irl yet non of these was discussed... The faith in immersed is getting thinner, there is no reason not to give more info at this point. The firmware issue is not holding them back....
I really appreciate your transparent review and your beautiful smile. I will wait to see what the final product looks like before I make my purchase decision.
Great video thanks. All 100% accurate. They shot themselves in the foot with this embarrassing event. The marketing was horrible but if they produced a working and matching product then it would have been ok, but they produced almost nothing at all.
Great video. I was dubious about the Visor from the start. I was extremely tempted to pre-order but I’m so glad I didn’t. It definitely looks like they over promised and extremely under delivered.
Wow... that really is some deceptive marketing. At this point they would have been better off just making it a headset. Does not make me want to buy one either seeing how janky the setup is. Great video!
@@DiscoVRTetiana 💯 absolutely. Always great to connect with fellow enthusiasts! I won’t be at connect next week but I’m sure we’ll cross paths soon, XR is really heating up!
Great video and great reporting! The lack of transparency and general crypto bro vibe I’m getting from them is very disconcerting. Hopefully it’s just growing pains and not a systemic problem with management.
The stems don't have the angle that the original mock ups had. That's interesting. It makes sense it would fall down on your face. The fact that they didn't have the straps is odd too. I'd think that would be something that's easy to get set up with. It's not technical or anything. I wonder if some last minute design changes happened and the accessories weren't ready yet.
Yeah it is odd. Like for people who would actually travel there, I’d think they most care about working in VR and so would be most interested in the real strap and the battery connection etc. And it seems like even the stems are supposed to connect to the battery pack, which should help counterweight it a little at least. So weird to just have a pull thing in the back to tighten it. At least have a fake battery pack with weight in the case that the cord runs through.
I would be extremely annoyed to travel all that way, just to look at a device that isn't even powered on. Feels very much bait & switch. It looks painful to wear too! I hope people don't get scammed. The cost is definitely questionable. All the best to them. Oh, I'm using your Pimax affilliate code to get a 'light'.
Finally! Thank you for covering this! I DiscoVR’ed you through the Meta Quest 3 in the supermarket video which I truly enjoyed! And now I am subscribing to you because I am also waiting for this product before buying an XREAL air. Looks like I'll just get an XREAL Air 😌 thank you again 🙇♂ 🙏🏻 Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭❤
Good honest feedback, thank you. I've written Immersed to request more transparency of their progress. I'm not so concerned about the external battery, that was listed in the original description and it makes sense. The headband is also reasonable for the weight. But not having a working model available? That's seriously lame. This leaves me feeling more scammed than before the conference.
As much as I'm interested in new tech entering the fray, if they can't/won't give a technical demonstration, then they're essentially saying that they have an idea, and want upfront preorder money for it. I think since they did it this way, they probably just killed any hype their marketting materials might have built up. I imagine the cover that hides the camera, is mostly there because without it, people will believe they're being recorded since the cameras are very clear without that cover. Until they have a working demo with proof that it can be mass produced in a way that won't sink the company, it's likely a safe move to consider it as an idea and not existing hardware. Sounds harsh, but safest to temper expectations, especially when they'd be expected to meet demand, but couldn't have a working prototype for journalists to have a look at for first impressions. Good video Tetiana! Thanks for making it!
impossible that device was not working: easy to install the previous build if new one is not working. Also demo builds are stabilized days if not weeks before such an important demo.
there were no demos, because this device does not exist. even if you wanted to give them benefit of the doubt, its been 3 days, and they havent posted to social media even once. they know they are doomed.
Good review! The VISOR is not ready, not fully funded or in production, and will likely disappoint everyone, but it will fill the gaps in the market due to its price and weight.
Ah... The old *switcharoo* ™️. Classic vapourware move! 😅 Jokes aside, this had all the hallmarks of vapourware: demoing a less desirable product than the promo showed ✅ Unveiling unfinished product that can't be tested ✅ Price that's better than what billion dollar corporations offer ✅ Shipping same year despite no finished prototype ✅
I was so excited about this product. What a let down. Renji seemed so passionate in all the videos too. I don't know if they will ever get to release this. I am sure they know they effed up with this event.
Thank you for the honest review. I have no brave to purchase this at this point. I believe the comfortability comes more from fitting and the center of gravity than the pure weight although both are important.
From the beginning, this feels suspicious. Why keep the entire operation so secret? They could easily win people over by sharing even a basic demo online, even if it has bugs. People interested in this would understand and be patient. After all, they're not Apple or Meta, just a startup. They just need to prove they're not scammers.
Oh dear, we’re not there yet. As time goes on comfort is one of the things I most look forward to for the future of VR, I can wear a decent HMD for over 6 hours if the experience is gripping me but I can’t wait until I can barely feel it like when I’m looking for my glasses with my glasses on.
I was on the preorder wagon, but cancelled it earlier this year when a few months before we were supposed to get the founder's edition there was still nothing to show for. I do wish them the best, immersed is a cool tool.
Don't worry, even with the TOP STRAP, the weight still at the front, the top strap do nothing to balance the device, without weight at the back, there is nothing to do to improve weight distribution/balance, same problem of the Apple Vision Pro. It's called "Center Of Gravity" of the device, it's all at the front, vertical down on the nose. Pico 4 it's the only VR device that really understood the weight distribution/balance of the whole device over the head out of the box. My main complain with EACH new brand of any new VR that comes for the first time to the market, it's HOW and WHY they don't LEARN ANYTHING from all the older VR headsets that already made all the main worst design mistakes, mostly about the ergonomics.
I'd like to see the Quest Pro kind of setup where the battery can weigh the same and offset the weight. Maybe there can be a strap that someone makes to do this.
The fact that it does not have IPD adjustment is also really weird, how would you make those with different IPDs for everyone? Bigscreen at least had a simple spacer that could be changed. This one has a solid plastic cover. There is no way to adjust IPD on those devices.
Seems like they should have teamed up with big screen or xreal. Because this doesn't look like they want it to do more then being a multi monitor setup.
They should have just gone for a xreal air with 4k display. That would have been more than sufficient for a lot of people including me. No need for fancy hand tracking and stuff in the first version. Thank you for your honest impressions!
LOL, I was ready to joke about people needing to lie before they try the headset on so they can grow bigger noses to hold the headset, but those pink marks on your nose are horrible! I don't think this headset with those stems are useable if you get those marks after a demo, imagine 8 hours of work with those things! :-( It's a shame, because I want this headset so badly, if this headset worked it would be an instant buy for any digital nomad who could now travel with multiple monitor screens and work at any cafe! Thank you for your review.
Yes, the final product they promise is so desirable, I want it too! I’d use it way more than my Apple Vision Pro. But it seems like we’re farther from it than we thought
@@DiscoVRTetiana You said this in your video too and that so much resonated with me. I want this to work, with the form they showed us. But the rambling at the keynote with these changes to the form show us they are not there yet with either product or leadership.
Yeah.....ill be keeping my AVP for years to come, from reputable company called Apple. This has 0 interest, and no intention to get them. For the sake of VR industry I wish them best but...wow. To bad you had to go through that debacle of event.
Very disappointing… I really like Immersed on the Quest 3 and hoped that Visor would be a lighter version for work but this is nowhere near where it needs to be…
Great job Tetiana! Failing to impress reviewers is a bad sign for consumers. Despite that, I think it’s important that with the price consumers will also have to purchase lenses and maybe even audio along with a decent headset. The cost already seems to be climbing and you didn’t even get to test the actual visor. This product sounds like a definite “buyer beware”
For experienced VR users, it was 100% clear that this device can not fulfill its promises in 2024. That would be only possible with 10x the price or a release in 2028 with new tech that does not exist at the moment on the consumer market ;-) ... I warned all people to not preorder this device!
No point warning people, they will just call you a hater/troll or someone who can't even afford it. Whoever spent money on it, or invited the indian guy to their youtube channels, deserve to lose their money.
If people still don’t realize this whole product launch is a scam, I don’t feel bad for anyone who wastes money on it. They are probably betting on someone trying to buy the company vs actually ever releasing the product as promised. They just don’t have the money to actually build the product they want.
A lot of promises without much content. I got the vibe from the presentation that the company is still in an early stage for this product, but after seeing your video seems like the problem is much deeper. If you have to make a point about the weight and your demo devices doesn’t work, something is not going in the right direction.
A number of us kept saying how much of an over hyped scam the Visor was going to be and it's sad to see that is actually the case. I did want them to succeed but it was basically like the AI Pin - a lot of hype and smugness/arrogance and then the actual hardware is a huge fail.
