It’s not literal when he says he was there. Stories like this one exist, Technique just shaped and delivered it in one of hip hops purest forms. Pure talent
Yea , he already explained that it didn't take place, and that he didn't r@pe her. Just a song taking about the crazy shit that played out as such. I'm sure he's heard it all.. But for a criminal to think of that very scenario, should make them think twice!
He actually took a story that happened in London 10 years ago where the man raped a woman and turned out to be his step mother and those crimes were called dancing with the devil murders
I gotta say I love it when I see people’s reaction when they find out it’s his mother. People go from vibing to the song to straight utter shock! You guys didn’t disappoint
In interviews he explains that this is a version of a story that was often told to kids in the projects when they were coming up. When kids grow up surrounded by violence, these Dr. Suess stories aren't going to have much of an impact. This was intended to scare kids who live in scary areas everyday
In order to make sure I was well behaved as a child in church, my mom used to me that the Satan was waiting in the back of the church in the confession booth and he would come out and snatch you if you we’re on your best behavior.
The lines "but then again there's always the wicked that knew in advance" and "the dirty bastards knew exactly what they were doing" give me chills every time
"He cried out to heaven cause he was lonely and scared, but only the devil responded cause God wasn't there, and right then he knew what it was like to be empty and cold, so he jumped off the roof and died with no soul" This shit right here. Chills down my spine. This shit is what keeps you up at night. This is Hell.
No lie.... this would've been a sick ref in a Kendrick Lamar diss to Drake about the underage girl 😭 "But Then again there's always the wicked that knew in advance, the dirty bastard knew exactly what he was doing"
You can always tell when its the first time somebody has listened to this song. Theyre always vibing hard... but then the head nod stops at the same point every time. Cant fake genuine reaction :P
@@botbeamer Same, i was in middle school when i first heard it, 2004, it does something to you as a person, but in a good way. Imm tech will always be in my top 5.
I feel you on that, I grew up in a group home from 12 to 17 years old...was in a gang for many years, thieving, sellin drugs, stickups you name it... my grandmother saved my life when I moved in with her in a completely different city (nice area of Toronto) at 19 years old. Totally changed my life and made me understand (NOT JUST KNOW WHY ITS WRONG...BUT ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND WHY ITS WRONG!!)...people in this lifestyle know its wrong..but dont UNDERSTAND in there hearts why its wrong. My grandmother saved me.
The story is true. Immortal T. wasn't there. But the reason for re-telling the story is that, after this all happened, these dudes started dying. And their children. And parents. Never a word was spoken. But there was one of them that couldn't be found. His Son was murdered. And he was caught and murdered at his son's funeral. So all of them is gone. But the stories live on, in Harlem.
This is not a true story its a compilation of different stories that go on daily and he put them into one, he added himself into the story for the impact of it to make it more in your face because its easy to move on and blow off stories in the news or that you hear that are faceless, it doesnt affect you.. But when you have someone standing in front of you saying they did it, they were there now you have a face to put to it and its memorable...
that’s the story of you never know, I’ve heard the story of this is that his cell mate told him this story because it was how he got arrested and it’s in the POV of the cellmate
No immortal technique dias the story is real , When he was in his cell mate was apart of the End story of him being apart of a member raping his mother. While William part is like the average gangbangers dream of rising the ranks but snitching when faced with consequences
I’ve fallen and I can turn back. As an alcoholic lyrics like that… a dance with a devil might last forever. I’ve done unspeakable things as a drunk. This song speaks more cold reality. It speaks
I like how the chorus changes when you expect it to come in the 3rd time but instead you get “I’ve fallen and I can’t come back” when Billy had got to the point of no way back
I gotta say, seeing you going from "this shit happens every day, it's not gonna affect to a lot of dudes from the streets growing up" To a moment later, speechless and shook. That's how it happens, great discussion and reaction 🙌🏽
As some1 who grew up in the hood & grew up listening to rap including L.A gangsta rap I agree that hearing the story doesn't really affect us as much. However I think that even tho we've heard other rappers talk about selling drugs, robbing & killing & even witnessed for ourselves once it starts talking about rape even we are taking aback. Every1 I know that has heard this always has the same reaction the 1st time & that's that they'll be vibing to the song then the way he starts vividly taking u thru the process how they're waiting in the car for a victim they finally spot 1 so they sneak up on her & everything it makes u picture it in your mind & then when it's revealed it was his own mom it does trip u out
I met him told him this song changed my life for many reasons, he said that's the one thing that makes him sad bc so many females react to this song bc of so many stories close to the same
As a Mexican from the north east I get his point about not being alarmed about the violence. I just never thought about it like that I just reacted like it’s normal to head shit like that
random person - "hey, immortal technique, is that story true? techs' answer everytime: "It happens every day of every week of every month of every year."
There’s a lot of beautiful stories out there that don’t end on positive notes. The best example is Tiananmen Square. Tragic, sad, awful ending, but it’s a beautiful story of how one person actions allowed a light to be shined on those doing evil. This story follows the same pattern, it end horribly, but there is a lesson here, the people your gang banging against are your own people, your own family members, your own community, and that it was his moms he did that to shows that you’re hurting your own community and in turn your family members
Immortal Technique is amazing. One of my favorite rappers of all time. In my opinion, Immortal Technique is the greatest storyteller to ever do it, and one of the biggest crimes to take place in hip hop is this man not getting the credit he deserves.
Immortal is one of the top artist with lyrical genius ability..This story was just super great..he knows how to get his listeners into the tension mode...Big Live for this super reaction
Song gives me the shivers everytime I listen. Reminds me of a kid I knew in college(high school to Americans) who was arrested for setting up a kid to arrange a meeting to sort out a petty drug debt and then stabbed him to death. I thought about stuff he used to say to me like if I want really money I should sell cocaine instead of weed which I was selling to support my own habit and talkin about how hed send his girl outside to do his sales for him. It's True the devil grows in the hearts of selfish and wicked. He was a conflicted kid now dancing with the devil on a cold cell block. Whenever I hear this song I see his face and think about him but cant remember his voice just certain sentences he said to me which was the devil showing himself in him but I never realised at the time but looking back it was obvious. I smoked a joint with him the same month he slayed an unarmed kid over £50. I wonder if he realises the devil corrupted him. Its deep I think about it a lot I was acquainted with the devil in disguise but was non the wiser at the time.
Every young man should listen to this song because it will scare the fuck out of you, when I heard this shit when I was young and stupid nigga I got me thinking for weeks bro and I really started double thinking all my actions I was doing wrong crazy how powerful as song can be
I saw him live in 2008, and he started the song by saying people ask him if this is true. . . And he said it is true cuz it happens every day. . . I think it is missing the point to obsess over how true it is from his perspective. The narrator of the story was there when it happened and that is why he is telling the story. Immortal technique is storytelling. He is speaking from the perspective of someone who doesn’t even want to tell the story cuz the narrator has his own guilt as he tells it.
I'm not even from the hood nor any family or friends in a spot of that nature and I understand everything spoken. Simple message made with rough words. Sometimes it's needs to be blunt to have the message go through.
You know when something happened in the hood and you hear the story so many times you can retell it as if you were there. Sometimes you might even say you were there. That's what this is
In regards to "when you are asking how is it fair that God could put people in a situation where they know nothing else?" I once heard a lady that had an NDE says that we all make it to heaven. That she was told (paraphrasing) "That God's love for you is so great. Do you think God would ever leave something he loves so much behind? What if after this life you woke up from a dream? We have bad dreams all the time and it rarely effects our day to day. I am saying there is an understanding we don't fully have about God's "love". If I have full faith in the plan, I bet that it is not as unjust as it feels.
He spoke about it on an interview, yes the story is true, the building this happened at is in Harlem, no he was not actually there but he knows which building it was
Great reaction guys I know the song so watching You guys stop the video to say something just at the perfect time before the the big 👊🏼!! I feel like I’m watching animals getting closer & closer to a trap! Cheers 🌩🌩🔥🌩🌩 🐗🇨🇦🖤🇺🇸🚀
this song alone is the peak, no rap acrobats or anything jus one flow and many lyrics behind it. the more u listen to the song the more the lyrics turn into an insane story... he heard that piano and it was wraps
They wrapped her head with a shirt at the very beginning and unless he knows what his mothers voice sounds like in extreme panic and terror then I'd doubt he would recognize her voice.
Also I don't think if anyone was in a situation Billy was in they'd think a woman they meet is their fucking mother immediately, if someone thought that immediately..that would be creepy in it's own way
I love watching first time reactions to this song. Anyone who has knows whats coming. loving the tunes bobbing his head then @ 10.05 BOOM .... No one tells story's like IT
I’d imagine your voice is gonna be different when you’re screaming for your life. Even if it wasn’t, the adrenaline and gassing up by his homies probably blinded William. Tunnel vision’s real.
Hey bud, glad to see you’re dabbling with Technique. I suggested a song by him a few months ago called “The Cause of Death”. Would love to see your guys react to this song
Probably the most real, and most intense gangster rap song in history! Also, This is not a real story, this guy is just a lyrical genius... He is still very active. Please do yourself a favour and check out more of his music, it isn't ALL like this... This was just a really moving masterpiece in storytelling that modern music is really missing.
Dancing with the devil 😂will give you everything you wanted to a tee but dancing on tree of your choices checkmate on his part there but that's a perfect example 😂
This song is deep & fked up but the story telling in this song is advanced. This song is pain.. I remember when this song came out... east coast music back then was on another level
Let’s also not forget one of the reasons billy didn’t recognize his mother from something like screaming is cuz they broke her jaw so she couldn’t say anything
Immortal Technique has alot, and I mean alot of music. If you guys want more artists you'll definitely love, reply to this comment and I'll give you a few rappers that you'll definitely react to.
They set him up.cuss he was a snitch.” Then again there’s allways the wicked that knew in advanced” .” Those dirty bastards knew what they where doing “
In a new interview on Bootleg Kev's channel, Tech explains this song in detail - check it out. He wasn't there and didn't rape no one, but THIS song actually happend in Harlem
I enjoyed watching two perspectives from a man and a woman on such a incredible piece of poetry portrayed through music. You mentioned something in the video that every one should take note on, you said it can happen to anyone, this is a cautionary tale.
It's never too late. There are so many people who came out of the streets because Christ himself was the one who tapped them on the shoulder. But yeah that song is real talk. This is a spiritual war going on here, the devil and supernatural forces, people think it's all just a metaphor but that stuff is legit bro. I've seen stuff from that other "realm" and based on how he talking I know Immortal Technique has seen a thing or two as well and I'm not just talking about physical stuff that goes on. There are so many deeper levels to this than people realize.
10:24 the Devil clouded his mind, that’s how. He was blinded by his own selfishness and that’s how he was unable to recognize that it was his own mother
he is rapping about a story that his inmate told him so hes rapping in the inmates perspective ,the story is trrue but the song is made to talk about how this shit happens in every country and everywhere
