In the U.S, each "side" thinks the other is like this, whenever the reality is that they both are. I've said it for years: there is no possibly way that a rich politician that's never had to work a day in their life can represent me or relate to me on any level. In my earlier years, I leaned more conservatively. As I grew, I shifted to leanings more liberally. Now, I think they're both jokes and an embarrassment. These idiots will burn their home to the ground just to blame it on anyone else. No one gives a shit about whats good, bad, right or wrong. They just want those theyre against to lose, and everyone loses when votes are made with that in mind. 43 year old hillbilly Joe down the road is gonna vote conservative, not because he knows the policies or what is even being voted on, but because thats how hes always voted and thats the way his chosen media intake has convinced him to vote. He'd sign a contract that puts his family's future into servitude if it meant that he could tell all the leftists that he got one over on them. 24 year old little Rebecca would sign away her own future if it meant that she could decide new terms we use for words she doesn't like and rub it in Joe'a face. These people do not give the slightest molecule of a fuck. Its all about sticking it to the other rather than actually doing anything beneficial for anyone. And that's why governments are allowed to abuse their powrr and citizens. Instead of throwing a god damn couch through the bedroom of the white house and demanding change like their Constitution says they can do, Joe and Rebecca are at each other's throats over colored hair or some other trivial imaginary bullshit problems that they dont like about each other. The United States is no longer fit to run itself.
I think this analysis could use a bit of refining, even though I suppose the broader point is correct. The liberal side has a lot of people who do genuinely care, but they are easily corralled for non-issues that they think are issues, or issues that are real but not the main issues or at least not correctly analysed as an interwoven system. The point of this is to distract everyone and maintain the economics talked about throughout this song, which is really the most important thing. It doesn't help that there are often (as in the US) two main parties and one of them is legitimately bad for a lot of people whilst the other at best may not make things any worse, so people support the latter and then they hope. And then there's the fact that the first world's populace is largely controlled opposition so they can keep exploiting the rest of the globe even more.
