@Truck Stop I've done Imogene as well, and there were parts that I wouldn't take my f250 crew cab long bed which was 22ft. long. Turns would be too tight. Also some areas at the beginning of the pass recently washed out so I'd be leery of the stability off camber with that high of a COG. We did it in my 16 Rubicon on 35's and it was nerve racking in spots.

Like so many have said, you have done an ABSOLUTE “daggum that’s good” video. I’ve spent 30 years driving 4x4’s in Colorado and other states and I watch vids now to remember. Saw your heading and thought I’d try it out and see. This is the best video of this type I have seen. I am humbled by the beauty and majesty, deeply satisfied, and wish I was back out there! I cut the TV cable years ago, and I only get my entertainment from creators like you. This video is one of the most satisfying productions that I have viewed in a long time. You have done a fantastic job capturing the beauty and serenity of the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. This video gave me chills. Kudos brother. I live in Florida and visited this area about thirty years ago, then finally got around to taking my wife out there last summer. We visited Ouray and Telluride via the asphalt highways, but we would have loved to ride along with you on the trail over Imogene Pass.

My GrandMa lived In Ouray for a long time. The colors are splendid and the terrain very unforgiving and oft dangerous. My Uncle used to take the old road up to Caribou in his willys truck with all of us in it. What memories were made , never to be forgotten. !!

Beautiful footage and editing Richie. My husband talked me into the million dollar highway trip on the way back from AZ and Utah via Durango to Silverton then down to C Springs to get back to Parker. It was paved but crazy scary. We were towing a Casita with a Honda Pilot in April - avalanches and rock slides and ice and heavy snow on the passes. Never been so scared in my life and the roads were paved. Never saw another driver towing anything. I don't know how people live up in Silverton all year. Really enjoyed your video!!

I rode this on a Honda XL175 trail bike back in the late 1970's. My brother was on his Kawasaki KE175. We made it from Ouray to Telluride via Imogene. On the downhill into Telluride I recall many times I had both wheels fully locked up but was still sliding on the rocks. Once we rolled into Telluride, we decided our asses had enough kicking and chose to ride the highway back to our camp in Ouray. The paved highway from Telluride to Ouray is 50 miles. That took forever at the top speed of about 45 mph that those bikes could do.

I tried it and gave up after running into too many other vehicles on the trail. It seemed like there were not enough places to pull over to the side and the road was too narrow. I had to back down a narrow stretch and almost fell off the edge of the road a couple times. Not sure how people navigate this road unless the traffic is lite (which these days in colorado is usually not the case). Wonder if it could be done as a day hike on foot...

You forgot to mention that the Tomboy mine had the highest YMCA , it had a bowling alley & tennis courts. The best book I've found about Tomboy is the "Tomboy Bride". The author Harriet Backus was a young newlywed living Tomboy & had to learn how to cook & order food for month at a time. She tells about going into the mine w/ her husband & riding horses over Imogene. She had the 1st child born at the Telluride hospital. The other side of Imogene you didn't mention the Campbird mine. Thomas Walsh found the largest gold nugget at the time which is in the Smithsonian. There's a book written by his daughter Evalyn Walsh McLean, "Father struck it Rich". They moved to D.C. soon after the struck gold & when she was older bought the Hope diamond. She married the son of a newspaper magnate & were friends w/ President's. Oh well just thought I would share some great reads about the area.

Beautiful work. Colorado native here. Growing up poor in Denver, I missed out on so much.

Beautiful country!!! I absolutely love it out there... I was born and raised in northern Idaho, you would love a trip out there. Go across Montana then from Missoula, MT. Go hey 12 west then go up to Pierce, ID. And follow the north fork river back over to MT. Then just go north. It looks a lot like this. You say the person coming up has the right of way but all the old timers and old loggers have always said the person coming down has the right of way in the mountains. Because the traffic is usually a logging truck and loaded is coming down the mountains and empty is going up. Being born and raised out there the un written law is the vehicle coming down always has the right of way. Thank you for the videos and I’m sub. Looking forward to new videos

Amazing! I just got back(to Florida) from there 4 days ago. I didn't do Imogene, but I did do Black Bear, Engineer Ophir, and Cinnamon. My photography skills are nowhere near as good as yours, nor is my narration. My hat's off to you for an excellent production!

I'm young so I can't afford a 4wd even though I live in colorado you can't fully experience it unless you get out, out in the mountains. Imogen is extremely convenient because the fastest paved road from Ouray - Telluride is a 1hr+ drive that leaves the range... Like your car and videos my guy.
