This would be an excellent commander for a budget deck. I might try a $50 budget myself, looking forward to a video on this commander if you end up doing one.
@@EnigmaticTwister it's amazing in this deck. I was able to get about 20 cascade triggers with this consistently and made people scoop because of it. Haha!
tangle golen 7 colorless mana for a 5/4 golem with affinity for forest. so each forest you own lowers its casting cost by 1 colorless. just another card u couldcast for free very easily then cascade
Love that you pointed out that reduction doesn't change the cmc. Looooove it. Also spelltwine casting from opponents is hilarious. You Cascade from spelltwine itself and potentially from an opponents spell.
You can definitely turn this into a slow, brittle 1-card combo. Turn 5 Imoti cascades into Fierce Empath, search for Deadeye Navigator. Turn 6 Deadeye Navigator, cascade into Peregrine Drake, untap lands and blink for infinite Mana, tutor into Triskelion or some other win condition
I think Emerge cards would also work well, as would large Suspend cards like Deep Sea Kraken, or Reality Strobe, which will keep triggering every few turns.
Some types of cards that could work well are: - Split cards, for example Reason // Believe. - Miracle cards, for example Revenge of the Hunted. - Suspend cards, for example Durkwood Baloth. - Traps, for example Cobra Trap (this might be the only one actually). -Delve cards, for example Treasure Cruise. - General cards that get cheaper with specific conditions, for example Avatar of Might. A nice land to include would likely be Mosswort Bridge. I'm really excited for this commander! Definitely going to trade for them if I don't open them in a pack. Hopefully they're not gonna be that expensive.
If you want to optimize this deck in an unfun way, run lots of big creatures with afinity, cards like ghalta, as well as plenty of extra turn spells. Made properly, casting a big creature with imoti out will usually win the game on the spot through taking 8 turns while putting out 30 mana and playing massive beat down machines every turn. Just make sure all your ramp comes in untapped so you can extend your turns
I am excited to make this deck. I love Simic, who doesn't but after finding out that the mythic reprints are only in the foil slot I probably won't be able to afford the partner deck I'd like to buy with Tymna ... how did they not include these in the normal slot? Thanks Mitch for all these videos!
I run my imoti with 19 ramp cards and 22 cards with cmc 6 or greater and it works really well! I think the ramp is incredibly important for casting multiple large cmc cards per turn in the mid to late game.
It's really straightforward, just go for all effects that make your opponents loose a bit of life at once, like Zulaport Cuthroat, all 1-drops that drain for 1 on attack and a bunch of colorless spells. If you don't want to boost others, consider running some fogs.
"Because Simic really needs more utility support and strong commander options, we decided to give you guys cascade on 6+CMC cards that most Simic decks can churn out by turn 4. No need to thank us, you're welcome." - WotC, probably
@@aquablue3dsi hydras would prefer to pay mana though. If you hit an x hydra with cascade then you get x = 0. This works better with stompy set cost things.
Mostly thinking that initially its 5 cmc- was wondering since commander tax would add 2 each time.. so when it comes in on third time it'd be 2+2+5... would make it as a 9, could cascade to an 8?
@@antt1314 it does not. Just like for example a tax card saying all spells of type x cost more or less doesn't change cmc. Cmc is only ever concerned with the cost in the top of the card. The only exception being x spells on the stack where they have the cmc of x plus whatever else was payed. That's why some legendary creatures instead have text related to the mana spent to cast this spell to include commander tax
Can you think of a set where that's not true? Green and blue always get the best stuff. Black sometimes spikes red gets dragged along and white is taken out back and shot
I love this card, I have a deck built around ONLY playing the highest CMC cards in the game. The only card I play below 5 mana is Recross the Paths. Not only does this make almost every single card in my deck cascade, but it guarantees I get off the best ramp spell!
