Last mill that Mark and I made had chains welded to the shaft inside. They worked good but don't last forever.

I'm concerned that the lack of a clutch will make this either very hard or impossible to start. My old Troy-bilt 8HP chipper/shredder with the engine already running at full governed speed struggles a bit when the belt tension clutch is slowly applied. It is half as wide, has less mass, and is reduced to spin at 1/2 of the governed engine speed. Consider adding some version of a clutch.
