In this video, CA Mayank Singhal has explained the revised amendment under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules 2011 notified by govt. of India on 02nd Nov, 2021.
In exercise of the powers conferred in section 52 of the Legal Metrology Act 2009, the Central Government made various rules to be revised under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. Is it compulsory to include the manufacturer's details on the label? What if we only include the "marketed by" details and all contact information of the marketer?

Good presentation. Only have to correct an inadvertent error that says if pack is one kg or less, unit price is to be stated in gm. Actually the notification says for pack of less then one kg alone, unit price is to be mentioned in gm. Thanks and regards.

Thank You for nice information. In the article in point 14 : Is there an exemption for smaller retail packs or pack sizes of lesser value? Ans: Pre-packaged commodities having a surface area of 100 square centimetres or less OR having MRP of ₹ 35 or less shall not be obligatory to declare Unit Sale Price. But what is source of this exemption? Couldn't find it in notification. Kindly guide Sir. Regards.

Sir, Is it applicable only to food or all the packs including cosmetics? Also as pr Rule 6(1)(e)- Is it require to mention MRP in Indian Currency or Rs is sufficient

Hi, I had a question regarding the 4th Amendment which states that the packer of imported goods in India, now requires to mention the actual date of manufacture of the imported product. So my question is, as a customer, is there any way to verify and report the same? 2) Would the authority also regularly monitor the activity by the packer and take suo moto action in this regard? Thanking you in advance.

Yes, the Legal Metrology department regularly monitors the activity and if the department finds any misdeclarations/wrong information, then they will take necessary action and it might attract a penalty. You have diminished the extent of Legal Metrology. You are speaking only on the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities ) Rules 2011 made under the Legal Metrology Act 2009. Anyway I am Thanking you for creating awareness on this issue 🙏

Hi Mayank,I appreciate the effort to make us aware about latest ammendments in Legal Metrology packaged commodity rule. I have read somewhere that this improvement are applicable to 19 set of commodities. Are these applicable for automotive parts ?
