Just remember. Most logically sound space Marines with decent human compassion actually look up to the guard themselves. Its honestly pretty cool when you think about how the chaos gods have thier claws deep inside humanity but at the same time humanity has their hands held tightly at the throats of the chaos gods. If humanity cannot free itself from the dark gods it will drag all of them down into their grave. Despite how grim dark 40k is its also full of inspiring stuff.

Warhammer would have been cooler if those dumb space marines didn't exist ! Imagine the guard alone trying to battle all those enemies and horror and somehow pull it out and think of methods, now that would be respectably cool. But somehow only humans have marines ? Get out . No space marines and them having to face horrors with normal humans would have been epic, mega epic.
