Imperial Lighter from the World War 1 - Restoration of an Extremely Rare and Antique Find

My video of the restoration of an extremely rare and ancient gas lighter which is probably more than 100 years old. This lighter is unique and antique. The lighter bears the mark of a double-headed eagle with a crown on its head (or dragon). This is the coat of arms of the ancient tsarist period. I managed to find out that this lighter is from about the 19th century (but I am clarifying the information). I got it in bad condition, it was very rusty and with deep scratches, the surface was oxidized and damaged. After restoration, this antique lighter became very beautiful and unique.

I think the emblem on the lighter is the Russian coat of arms. Found some images on Google and this too "The coat of arms of Russia depicts a golden two-headed eagle on a red background. Above its heads, there are three crowns, symbolizing the sovereignty of the Russian Federation and its regions. The scepter and orb, which the eagle holds in its claws, personify state power and a unified state."

I tend to agree it is Russian. Though if the design has two eagle heads than it is Austro/Hungarian in design. He did not give a really good close-up!

This is the coat of arms of the Russian Empire, which was used before the revolution (until 1917). Exactly the same coat of arms now in the Russian Federation (became a state symbol after the Dissolution of the Soviet Union). Someone below wrote that it was the coat of arms of Poland, but a hundred years ago Poland was part of the Russian Empire.

Think you'll find the Second Polish Republic was from 1918 until 1939 so not a part of the Russian Empire. After gaining independence from Soviet Russia in 1918 they then had to go to war with, and successfully beat, Russia to retain their independence until the Germans and Russians invaded in 1939.

Congratulations on the beautiful restoration work! Researching this interesting symbol, I found that it was adopted on several occasions by different peoples, manifesting sovereignty and power. Used, for example, on coats of arms, coins etc.). And even in Freemasonry. Its use is extremely old.

10. Gorgeous. I loved the contrast of metal and artwork. It looks like copper, which you may have written. Sleepy rainy weather here in SF. 10. Loved it. Have you ever gotten any cigarette cases. I saw an exhibit of the last Tsar’s collection. I believe it was Fabrage. You would not find those but many carried cheaper versions. 12:29 😊

👍Отличная работа, но орла можно было бы поменять. 20 копеечных имперских монет в хорошем качестве много. Есть из чего выбрать. Хотя аутентичность бы конечно пропала. Респект Друг за работу.

los supuestos rasguños que tenia en el lado del emblema hacian parte del diseño, eran lineas rectas que se distribuian por toda esa zona, el desgaste del emblema tambien se veia reflejado en el desagste de esos detalles

The double-headed eagle is the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. In his paws are the royal regalia - orb and scepter. The Austro-Hungarian Empire also had a double-headed eagle emblem, but it had a different look. Unfortunately, the coat of arms is badly damaged, but in general silhouette it looks more like a Russian one. This lighter was probably made before the 1917 revolution in Russia.

Looks like a royal coat of arms. Double headed eagle holding a ball and scepter (with a branch in its claws?) I didn’t get a good look any stars or other markings would be more helpful
