Imperial Scotland: The Tobacco Lords of Glasgow 

Imperial Glasgow became the major shipping destination for tobacco from the British Empire's American colonies in the 1700s. The Tobacco Lords were merchants at the forefront of this and helped set Glasgow up to be a major industrial powerhouse in the future. They reigned supreme for around 50 years until the American War of Independence which cut off their supply to the plantations.
