A video of me doing quite good against the rabbit of the Earth and the rabbit of the Moon, Tewi and Reisen Inaba, respectively.
Tewi and Reisen Inaba (don't ask why I'm mentioning both) are the stage 5 midboss and boss of Imperishable Night, the 8th installment of the Touhou Project. The Touhou project is a series of danmaku shooter created a ZUN, creator of Gensokyo. All hail ZUN.
Anyways, I find Tewi and Reisen to be relatively interesting characters on their own right. Hell, they have the canon "Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth" doujin, a doujin basically about them. Hmm, if it is canon, can it be called doujin? A doujin of a doujin?
Tewi (whose name is pronounced "Tei") is the leader of all the Earth rabbits, be it youkai or normal rabbits. She's a prankster and a liar by nature and has, ironically, the ability to bring good luck to anyone who sees her (except me). Despite her looks, she's one of the oldest youkai registered in Gensokyo, being around by the time the Hakurei Border was created. She's also over 1300 years old. Note: She was a youkai 1300 years ago, so who knows how many years before that she spent also as a youkai plus the years she spent as a normal rabbit. I imagine Tewi as a rather smart and wise youkai who prefers to act childish. I mean, being so old must have created SOME maturity in her. Then again, I also imagine her main weapon being a giant mallet, so what do I know? Then again, a rabbit with a giant mallet is not something unheard.
On the other hand, we have Reisen. Whereas Tewi is childish (in several ways) and devilish, Reisen ("Reisen" being her only actual name. Udongein and Inaba are nicknames) is mature (in several ways) and resident Butt Monkey of Eientei. Truth where truth is due, it sucks to be Reisen. She escapes from her home because of a war. A war against who?
Humans?
Armstrong?
...Strong arms?
Gensokyo's history is a living nightmare that makes next to no sense sometimes. Back to Reisen: she arrives at Eientei to become the student of Eirin Yagokoro as well as the receiving end of Eirin's mad experiments and Tewi's pranks. And that's how she had spent her life lately, being a Butt Monkey. And when she's not suffering at the hand of Eirin or Tewi and occasionally Kaguya, she's being pushed around by the other characters of the crew.
Which brings me to my above quote. "Lunatic Girls" is only a humorous rewrite of Imperishable Night, but if you're weak hearted, value your sanity, or your vision of "moe" Remilia, don't read it since the circle that did it is VISIONNERZ and... well... he/she/they/whatever is/are known for drawing the characters... like they should really be. I mean, oni are not supposed to be cute, vampires adorable, or demons gorgeous. Oni are supposed to be grotesque, vampires formidable, and demons complete Nightmare Fuel. And as such, whenever the youkai's meet the right circumstances in VISIONNERZ's works, they become the last thing you want to meet in a dark alley. Luckily, my high resistance to mind rape had allowed me to keep my own image of Remilia. Yay for seemingly useless stoicism and hereditary innate insanity =D
Back to subject: On the bright side, Reisen's abilities allow her to control any kind of wave (according to Mystia at least), using it particularly to induce lunacy on those who stare at her eyes by controlling light waves, I believe. It reminds me of Medusa. Ironically, the person who holds the ability to induce madness is the most level-headed person in Gensokyo. Figures, the only sane being in Gensokyo can turn people insane. Not that it is useful when it comes to it, since just like VISIONNERZ cannot drive me insane, Reisen cannot drive the other characters insane due to their intrinsic insanity (ask Marisa). Reisen, you might be a useless little bunny only good for your sex appeal, but I still love you and you are one of my faves. ^_^
Fun fact:
- I was originally going to use Tewi! EienTewi for the Kagome remix, but after thinking on the possible ramifications of using a song with vocals known for the MAD that accompanies it, without even knowing who made it, I decided not. But I encourage you to see it with the MAD. Is one of my favorites and it holds my favorite visual interpretation of Tewi. My favorite Tewi perse is that of the Inabas doujin/comic.
