They're a faction made up of individuals, as are all the factions. Each faction is inherently invested in it's own supremacy, but internally the exact quality of a person's life can vary immensely. One imperial world might be a civilized world with lives lived almost like our own, while another could be an unfathomable hellhole to rival our legends of hell. I would argue Chaos sets the record for lowest possible point, because daemonculaba.

There are good guys in Warhammer and Imperium are definitly the good guys. NO GOOD GUYS in Warhammer is a cuck take. Imperium does what's necessary for survival of it's leading spieces and if exterminating all life in galaxy is required to do it, then it is morally right to do so, because of basic right to self-preservation.

Not a video game, but there have been game adaptations of it. “That’s not true, there is peace” Clearly, you underestimate the sheer scale of the carnage that is wrought every second in 40k’s universe. Billions of lives are lost every day, and the forces of Chaos and their daemons shatter the very fabric of the universe to kill even more. I’m not exaggerating.

But in an entire galaxy, in an empire that has over a million worlds, at any given moment the vast majority of them will not currently be embroiled in conflict. @kentonjen8475 2 года назад
In the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40K, morality is not determined by a simplistic black and white understanding of good and evil. On the contrary, it is mostly gray as the factions are driven by survivalism and determination. The Imperium of Man, along with other factions like the Tau and Eldar, are seen as "okayish" on the morality scale for while they are dedicated to protecting the known universe and guaranteeing humanity's survival in a hostile space, they are shown to have a lot of faults such as bureaucracy, corruption, xenophobia, theocratic blind devotion, and execute a fascist military state with a feudal confederate hierarchical structure. However, despite those being negative attributes, it's nothing compared to the more chaotic and malevolent factions of the Orks, Necrons, Tyrannids, Dark Eldar, and Chaos who are hellbent on destroying, consuming, and spreading madness wherever they go.

@@Phenixtri Technically, it does have fascist elements due to the use of autocratic ultranationalism (humankind unified under one banner), guild-based production system (Adeptus Mechanicus and Merchants Guild), and overdependence on military exploits and warfare. Furthermore, there is such a thing as feudal fascism, i.e., the terroristic, militaristic, and personality cultish regime you see in the game with the imperium of man. Also, when Mussolini formed the fascist party in Italy, he modeled the ideology after Medieval Feudalism as he revived the guild system, particularly the one implemented by the Ancien Régime of France prior to the revolution of 1789. Just because the Imperium of man wasn't wholeheartedly unified, that doesn't mean it wasn't fascist in the sense of culture and economics.

Every non-warhammer fan if shown this video were just overwhelmed. I also think Bricky's video have problems too. In my experience the best video at explaining this stuff in an accurate but understandable way was Arbiter Ian's "History of warhammer 40k in 20 minutes" video. 40K is a fictional setting that is older than most people these days that partake in it. It started out as the backdrop setting for a tabletop miniature strategy/tactics game and kinda spiralled out of control and snowballed after that. Novels... and I mean alot ALOT of novels, more and more video games of various genres like Real Time Strategy (Dawn of War series for example), Turn Based Strategy (Mechanicus, Gladius, Armageddon, etc), spectacle fighter/3rd person shooters (Space Marine), Action Roleplaying Game or Diablo-like (Inquisitor: Martyr), and a crapload of other, less successful and loved games. They also made a movie that was rather poorly recieved by most fans (Ultramarine), some board games (Kill Team I think was the name) and a slew of Pen&Paper Roleplaying games (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Black Crusade, Deathwatch, Only War) Sssooooo, saying "it's a game" is a bit of an understatement. The 40K universe is an overarching setting in which a bunch of games take place. Like Lord of the Rings is not just a book anymore. It's a novel of course but it's also movies, series, games on PC and console, board games, roleplaying games, an MMORPG (think World of Warcraft incase that term meant nothing to you), I think there is a card game too and probably alot of other stuff I don't know about. But they all share the same world/setting and have to adhere to it's lore and background. And naturally, with so many products made by so many people the quality and faithfulness to the lore varies from product to product. Same with Star Wars (which got Roleplaying Games, various genres of console and PC games, board games, novels, series, tabletop strategy games, ...hell even dance-off games) And it's the same with Warhammer 40.000... minus the dance-off game. And I hope it stays that way.

Those ships by the way are basically ~5km long cities strapped with multi-storied-sized macro cannons and everything is powered and moved by a plasma engine. Oh and a ship of the line like a Lunar Class Cruiser has around 100.000 crew onboard. Basically those chicken-toys are self-contained mobile city states armed with weapons of mass destruction. (which is what happens when you fire your broadside on a planet. mass destruction. and that's just the basic armament, not Exterminatus level stuff)

How to relate Warhammer 40K... hmmmm.... OK, to begin with, it started as a tabletop miniatures war game, back in the early 80's. People would buy models, paint them up, organize them into armies, and fight battles with rules for movement, combat, cover, along with lots of special rules for particular types of units. There were books, similar to the D&D manuals, that contained these rules, with lots of lore to fill in the background. Many artists contributed artwork, frequently of a grotesque style, to add their own aspects of the universe. The game was a hit, to put it mildly. At gaming conventions, people would bring models for battles ranging from small skirmishes to full-on multi-player and multi-faction donnybrooks, along with competitions for the best-painted models. A point system was used to gauge relative strengths to ensure play balance (to keep an entire army of Space Marines from whipping up on a single Ork squad). Time passed. The rules changed over editions to address issues of over- and under-powered units, adding new cover and weaponry rules... and extending the lore. People loved the attached lore - the environment was dubbed "GrimDark", and stories were written of people living in such a dysfunctional set of worlds. Space Marine chapters would hold off invading Ork attackers, Imperial Guard units would campaign against heretics and rebels - the books were often snapped up by players and those who were fascinated by a galaxy in eternal war. Also, the books were cheaper. A good-sized army could run into thousands of dollars and years of labor painting and detailing the models. Then came the computer games. The big one that expanded access was called the DAWN OF WAR series, which offered single-player story-based campaigns or player vs. player full-scale battles. More people got involved. Of course, the original designer company kept some hold on the directions the lore could take, but there were many others who wrote lore, and rules to keep up with the new lore. In a sense, the tail was now wagging the dog, so to speak. Thus we have expanded rules and extensive lore for what started as a tabletop miniature war game.

Madam, the two best videos to get into understanding the lore of Warhammer 40,000 are those by Luetin on the Emperor of Mankind, especially the FIRST TWO VIDEOS he made on the Emperor of Mankind. They are more than 1 hour long, but they delve into the fundamentals of it deeply... RU-vid type " Luetin Emperor of Mankind" and watch the first and second videos. They are fictional history documentaries that are highly absorbing. Another RU-vid Channel that has extensive lore on Warhammer 40,000 is that of Baldemort. His style is highly engaging in a sort of of British folksy way - well that's how I'd describe it. He delves into detail about the factions and many characters of 40k. The Space Marines are the most prominent sub-faction of the lore. They are the most popular and they are very central to the setting and plot. They were formed by the Emperor of Mankind at the end of the Age of Strife, a 5000 year long period of human history across the Galaxy that saw immense technological and cultural retrogression among humanity and a few other species, to embark on the Great Crusade to reunite humanity as it had once largely been united during 10,000 years of the Age of Technology as well as bring back technological progress and prosperity. The Space Marines consist currently of about 1000 chapters, which all descent directly or indirectly, be it to their knowledge or not, from the 20 original Space Marines Legions. 2 of these Legions were lost to history and 9 of them ultimately remained loyal and 9 of them turned traitor against the Emperor. The most prominent of the Space Marine Chapters are the Ultramarines. You will probably know them as the blue armoured Marines. They originate from the Ultramarines Legion by the same name. The leader, the Primarch of the Ultramarines, Roboute Guilliman, recently returned after being in stasis for nearly 10,000 years and now is the Head of Government of the Imperium. The 1st ever Chapter and indeed Legion are the Dark Angels, a highly secretive Chapter seeking to hide an ancient sin and atone for it. Lionel Jonson, the Primarch of the Dark Angels, is in stasis onboard the Rock, the flagship of the Dark Angels, and has been for nearly 10,000 year, but this is unknown to the Dark Angels, but there are great hints that he will finally awaken in the next edition (the 10th) and will assist with his younger brother Guilliman against the myriad of the foes of the Imperium.

40K has no good guys. Pretty much every faction is ranging from morally dubious at best to Let-The-Galaxy-Burn-flavours of evil. Warhammer 40K in essence exists as an exercise into the Morally Grey and also the It's A Matter Of Perspective mindsets. Naturally almost every side believes themselves to be the good guys and there are admittedly tales of actual bona-fide heroics and self-sacrifice. All of those are just drawn down into the mire by the simple fact that every faction is in deeply flawed or corrupt in some way. Think of it this way: A german soldier in WWII might have saved a village full of civilians at the cost of his own life but people would still judge him for being a Nazi today. It's a bit like that in 40K. There are tons of great heroes that gave their lives for the Imperium but does that make them good people since they fought for a totalitarian, religious extremist, xeno-phobic regime that burns dissenters alive and isn't above turning entire planets full of humans into ash? There lies the crux of the moral problem with 40K or rather the delicious irony and juxtaposition of the 40K setting. It has both valor, selflessness and heroism as well as unspeakable misery, cruelty and hatred. Sometimes in the same character even.

They always talk about certain focused topics in a easy to understand way. Even if you know NOTHING of Warhammer it is funny because the lore of this universe is so insane and they present it in a easy to digest way. An episode goes for usually around 40-60 minutes.

I reccomend you react to videos from Adeptus Ridiculous or Luetin09, not only do they actually read the books, unlike this channel that only quoted Wikipedia articles. they don't let modern ideology from the left or right hijack their videos, which Templin has, they've gone hardcore woke leftist lately and are pushing out their own opinions as canonical facts, and claiming anyone who doesn't echo them at all, is a raging misogynist, that channel is rotting away, please give love to some that still put politics aside for future reacts!

XD this is as pointless as asking a random person on the street to "quickly" learn about a specific science like biology, its just too alien for them.

was it a good idea to put a feminist for this reaction? She doesn't care about 40 years of warhammer history, she just clarifies how politically correct it should be. there are many details in her posture that shows that she is not interested and does it only for the video.

I sort of fast forwarded through a good chunk because i've seen the original video so many times, but she didn't seem too bad. Although people who's job it is to watch stuff like this shouldn't be expected to be interested. If it becomes interesting to a few people who want to look further into it, awesome. If not, that's fine. If I showed my mom this video she'd be like "uh, okay, you have weird taste" and then never think about it again, LOL.
