I so wish I had these videos a few months ago! After being out with my own kids for 13 years, I went back into the first grade classroom. You have helped so much as I am adjusting to SOR!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I agree with everything you said in this video. Some words will not be decodable and that’s okay. It’s good practice to expose them a little as we go.

I whole hearted agree with everything you said about balanced literacy. It’s so much more than the three cuing systems. I actually never used the three cuing systems but didn’t realize I wasn’t using them. It never made sense to me to ask students to rely that heavily on pictures to solve words. But I also teach upper elementary. I do ask my students if the word they already read makes sense when they misread a word. That lets me know whether or not they are monitoring their comprehension. Once they realize it didn’t make sense, I prompt them to decode the word again.

Awesome!! I have inherently been teaching reading by sounding out words, sound/letter by sound/letter…I never liked having them using pictures or other tools to avoid sounding out..even in 5th grade..I always tell kids, I won’t give you a word you can’t read-- but I will help you sound it out…

Thank you so much Anna, this was very helpful for me. I am ready to make some positive changes within my classroom as well as my lessons. I was feeling very defeated for a while but after watching "Shame On You" and this video, it all makes perfect sense to me. God bless you!!!

Thank you Anna for all of your videos. They have helped me a lot as I have transitioned back into 2nd grade after many years of teaching 5th grade. I do have a question. My current 2nd grade classroom has 24 students with half of them reading at a lexile level of BR400. Other than focusing on sight words, what other skills do I need to incorporate into their small group time with me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Anna, I was looking to purchase the decodable readers on amazon from the link you gave. I can purchase set 1, but all other sets are either kindle only or it says “doesn’t know if this item will be back in stock. I really wanted to purchase the first 5 sets. Will I be able to purchase from amazon soon??

Hey there Valerie… I’m so sorry! They are all out of stock! We just received our delivery this week of a million books!!! So they will be back up on Amazon within the next couple of weeks. I’m hoping they will all be back in stock on Amazon by the third week of January. 😊

@@AnnaDiGilio I have been trying to purchase your word mapping paddles for months. Amazon won’t ship here and neither Will your store. Can you help? I live in Saipan, in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. We have a U.S. zip (96950). So frustrating! I have purchased from Amazon for years but it won’t ship these! Please- can you figure out a way to send them? I gladly pay shipping by any carrier!

I purchased your Structured Literacy with E.A.S.E. and absolutely love it. I know you have many videos showing how to use your products. Do you have a specific video that goes through a typical lesson?

My school has made the shift to structured literacy. I love it. However we do not have a set curriculum on how to do it. I watch your videos religiously. They are amazing!! Question: we currently only pull skill groups of kiddos who are well below or below for 15-20 mins every M, T and alternate to the other group Thurs. and Friday. Any advice or tips on how effective this is.

Hi Anna, I want to purchase the program but wanted to know if I need to purchase additional resources from your TPT store such as read-it’s, making words mega bundle etc.
@AnnaDiGilio

The resources from Anna's TPT store (such as the Flip Flap Books, Making Words, etc are not part of the structured literacy program, so would need to be purchased separately. We hope this helps _ SST TEAM_
