How frustrating for you! As I've mentioned before in comments on your previous videos - and it's funny that you just mentioned this as I was typing this - your mini reviews are a form of advertisement, as they encourage people to watch the shows you review. So sorry that you are having to change what you do because of this.

Jeeze... I remember the days when RU-vid was commercial-free and it was just people uploading their 'stuff'.

It’s such a fine line with copyright! One I’ve had to learn the hard way with, seeing what I can get away with and can’t get away with with fingers crossed each time! Glad to hear the channel has been doing well lately with subs and views m8 it’s hugely deserved

You are in my opinion the best thing on RU-vid. Your format should be what all others strive for. . You're right about them basically receiving free advertising on there stuff and that's amazes me.others have it happen over stuff I've hardly ever heard of so it makes no sense to attack it. But there it is with a movie like CHUD getting taken down but popular movies having no problems. BTW great job oacoon it just shows how much work you put into it.

YTs broken fair use killed my channel years ago ….. now i just speak to the camera and don’t use any images cutaways …. its boring but haven’t been flagged in a while

Sadly, I am seeing this all over from content creators. You and the others are giving these companies free advertising. People like you expose me to shows I never heard about, or get me take time to watch the movie or TV show. Enjoy your work. Thank you.

God what an awful situation. When I first started creating videos I never imagined I'd be dealing with this, but even as a low-subscriber nobody, people came after me for anything.

Please be warned. Even if the money goes to MGM, youtube can still demonetized you completely for "reuse". They are looking for any reason to take it all. You can't rely on copyright notifications to stay on the the right side of youtube. I had zero strikes and they took my channel down for 9 months.

Amazon owns most of the M.G.M. content.

I literally pay to rent the movies you review. You are bringing revenue to these companies. This is insane.

I would bet these spurious copyright claims would end overnight if it cost, say, $100 to file one.

Yup, RU-vid and copyright do not gel. I thoroughly enjoy your reviews and to think that RU-vid can block your recognition for all your hard work is plainly wrong. I do not see things changing in your favour, so change from you is inevitable. I fully endorse your decision and I wish you all the best for your future.

From what I see RU-vid is pushing their subscription stuff pretty heavy, including an add for it right after your video. I can see them at some point getting rid of creator content all together in favor of something like netflix or prime video. Just my opinion.

I guess I'm just surprised that you can upload the videos to Patreon. I know they're nowhere as big as You Tube, but they are not insignificant. And Patrons are directly paying you money, as opposed to indirect payment through ad revenue. Do the copyright owners just not care about Patreon? Or is that the next shoe to drop?

The one thing I can suggest is mirror the footage and embed a slight watermark somewhere in there. It might fool the algorithm…..Fuck em’

If a copyright dispute always comes up what's the point of the Fair Use Doctrine???

Have you considered putting up a second channel, with less attention and if it gets taken down, it won't take down the main channel.

What a colossal pain in the ass. I've been tight with money lately but I'm working on resolving that. Once that is accomplished, I fully mean to support the channel. As I understand it, Patreon takes a smaller bite than You Tube does for their memberships, right? I just want you to derive the maximum benefit. As for the studios, I've always said they grossly mismanage the ancillary markets for their IP AND could explore their own monetization via social media much further. MGM was incredibly cash poor in the 80's and 90's and I doubt they are doing much better now. So it seems enormously short sighted on their part.

Sorry for the grief you're getting. Thanks for the information. Are MGM and Universal stand out bad players, or is what they do standard for major studios? I take it neither the company nor RU-vid share a reason how it's a copyright violation. Could you have avoided the studios' wrath by using just stills?

It is ridiculous that they would go after you. your videos cause people to go out and buy either the physical Media or streaming versions of the shows or movies.

What have those studios got to lose by you talking about their stuff?
