THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video an crucial information. I had no idea and just happened to stumble on the video and decided to watch it. Google gave me both options you show and I thought, oh, I'll take the coastline route for the view. And then I didn't realize about Matamoras either, until around the same time I found this video this weekend (i JUST recently a few days ago started looking into moving to Mexico). So THANK YOU for saving me. I will be following the highlighted blue route on your screenshot instead. THANK YOU again!!

Very nice Video .. Please tell Mark thank you! I know East coast gas prices are a little less right now.. But the Pacific/Central part of the US has skyrocketing gas prices between 5-7 dollars a gallon! California is one of the worst states.. in Oregon right now Diesel is over $5 a gallon and I heard Arizona is in that same category. Anyways... I love hearing about what highways he travels and why... When I was much younger I drove the far East trek from Laredo, Texas... back then we only had ONE situation where we were stopped by people in Uniforms... But when they realized we couldn't communicate in Spanish much... just Gracias and Por Favor.. LOL they let us go.. :)

HIVOLCO if we are polite and do not show fear, all is well. Showing fear makes them think we are hiding something. Back when Mark was young, we did the trip 2 - 8 times a year. We always had cold Coors in a cooler for them. LOL Now that is not a good idea.

Good to hear that about the very windy (meaning lots of turns) road along the eastern coast. Plus the advice to go south to Huatulco. What I don’t understand is that on google maps the road along the coast looks like a federal highway and it doesn’t look all that bad. ??

@ostihpem do you mean to drive and explore the state of Quintana Roo?
@ostihpem
@ostihpem 3 месяца назад
@@lifeinhuatulco Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Campeche, Tabasco and may be a bit of Chiapas. As far as I know the real danger is if you drive near the US border in the North. What is your take? I know that Mexico is not the US but obviously I wanna avoid hot areas where it is likely to get trouble even in daylight.

One Try. One has to walk across. Take a taxi to the airport. There is an airport in Reynosa. My son says it is not so safe. So, do a early day light flight and light on the luggage, dress low,profile non touristy.
