The US beef suffers from undue prejudice in Japan. I don't think it is the question of tariffs. Consumers in Japan often pay willingly for the tariffs and for other premiums once they fall in love with particular products. Single incidence does not represent the entire industry. I respect the entrepreneurial spirits of the US and I find the current situation sad and frustrating. One word of advice from a mere uneducated Japanese of humble means - more grass-fed beef will be made welcome in Japan. Those educated, upper middle class families are going for the grass-fed.
It would have been cool to see part of the actual auction to see what they actually sell for. A 700 lb steer isn't going to go for $1.50 lb here in the US, you'll get that on a for a 450-500 lb steer. A 700-750 lb steer will bring in 1.05 - 1.15 per lb at the sale barn and that's if he's good quality
Us consumers would rather beef raised and butchered in the country. Get them to make to where the processors have to put the country the beef was raised in. An imported beef is not a product of the usa.
They did not Import that beef, they walked across, took one bite of feed and a drink of us water and now the Democrats will tell you that is legal imagration and us feed beef.
Esta es la herencia de tantos gobiernos conservadores y corruptos desde Porfirio Diaz, los recursos y tesoros nacionales concesionados a los extranjeros.
I agree with the condition of non products from USA crossing the borders to be sold in Mexico. Like Apple from Washington etc etc the list goes long way that is hurting Mexico farmers big time.
It's crazy cause I work at a meat packing plant and all the meat we export is meat that comes from old cows or meat that is about to go old so they just repackage it and export it
that why are good us cattle are so cheap if we don't get better money are cattle are famly farmers going to be out of work as ky cattle I wont the usa eating us cattle usa farmer need the money usa beef is the best
That's about right, that's exactly what US corporations and US politicians do all the time rip off Central American and South American countries and then complain because a lot of people immigrate to the US.
@@karenmc4592 sure you can😂, your farmers are slow and can't keep up with the demand. Mexico and Central American farmers feed a lot of US citizens so get used to it
America where we favor the profits of other nations over our own neighbors and patriots. Our cattle markets suffer over this unnecessary unbalanced trade & yet people watch this propaganda and just say OK. Never thinking of all our own cattle farmers. Just look at those numbers. This practice is hurting hundreds of thousands of American Farmers. 4400 a day! That means at 4400 a day already put at least 6000 pretty big American cattle farmers out of business. & by doing so also affected the hay farmers. The grain farmers. The tractor & attachment manufactures. So this BS practice is costing us hundreds of millions of dollars a year & that is not acceptable. What do we get in return from Mexico? NOTTA! damn! thing!
US farmers can't keep up with the demand that's why and your politicians know that. If you actually think all that cattle is coming just from Mexico you are out of your mind, a lot of that cattle also comes from Central America like Honduras, Guatemala. My father sends cattle to Mexico from Honduras all the time but the last point of arrival is the US because that's where the demand is.
